5-0 out of 5 stars Great interpreter to A Course...
I've heard a lot about A COURSE IN MIRACLES; in fact, I once5-0 out of 5 stars A Return To Your True Self
This is a wonderful lesson so many will benefit from as you learn to embrace the difficult times before you as gifts that are actually in front of you to help you come to know yourself, your strengths, and to bring you closer to your own Divine potential that you may not be able to see during times of difficulty.
5-0 out of 5 stars A gem
Marrianne Williamson's work is both real and honest.Rather than couch things in a concepts that are alien or extremely religious, she talks to you about the realities of existing.Of how things will not always be easy, about how you will lose your way, and honestly how to see people clearly.Growth is messy, it's not neat, maturity is not easy, nor is spirtiuality delicate work, but with assistance from a tape like this you can see yourself clearly and how to bridge yourself from concept to human to spiritual being. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Learning New Testament Greek?
Jonathan T. Pennington reads every word that occurs 10 times or more in the Greek New Testament. The words are arranged in 29 tracks, divided by frequency and presented alphabetically. (e.g. Disc 1, Track 3 contains words that occur 450 times or more in the Greek NT beginning with alla ("but") and ending with hos ("as, like, when, that"). Tracks range in length from 3 minutes 14 seconds to 8 minutes 32 seconds. In his gentle voice, Pennington reads each Greek word, pronouncing it clearly according to Erasmian convention. Then, after a pause for the listener to think of the word's meaning, he gives a gloss--a short English definition of the word. Coupled with a 48 page booklet, this 2-CD set provides a powerful tool for the acquisition of NT Greek Vocabulary.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product for Getting Started
Jonathan T. Pennington is to be commended for his fine work on these vocabulary CDs. I have used them for the past four years, and they have helped me keep up my vocabulary. Probably the most helpful aspect is they help ensure a correct pronounciation. While listening to the CDs is helpful, to get the most benefit, I would recommend listening and using the included vocabulary booklet. Pennington also correctly recommends using the CDs for a short time each day rather than trying to use them for long periods at a time. As a student of NT Greek for several years, I realize that there are no shortcuts or alternatives to hard work. These CDs won't make you a master of the language, but they will give you a good start!

2-0 out of 5 stars Use Flash Cards Instead
I bought this system with great eagerness to learn New Testament vocabulary while I was studying Attic Greek in undergrad.Perhaps I was spoiled by the clarity of my instructor's pronunciation, but when I first began listening to these CDs, I could not believe how poorly the pronunciation represented the actual spelling of the word.As other reviewers have said, this may be the "North American" pronunciation, but there is a reason why we American English speakers watch the National Spelling Bee every year with utmost intrigue: North American pronunciations don't make sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great insight
It is amazing that two people can read the same book and extract dramatically different concepts.
1-0 out of 5 stars Heart of Man- NOT heart of God
"Wild at Heart" is flawed at heart. It is about the heart of man - not the heart of God.
1-0 out of 5 stars BE CAREFUL OF THIS BOOK
Wild at Heart can captivate your interest and suck you in to believing it's all good.Problem with this book is that it is not sound when it comes to true untwisted scripture.I first loved this book and it began to change me until I researched further only to discover that The Bible has been used incorrectly. If you don't believe me,just punch in Wild at Heart on any search engine and read the complications with these writings. If you are a believer you will see in a very short time what I mean.

4-0 out of 5 stars Where the Heart Is- The Review
Where the Heart is; is a book about a seventeen year-old girl names Novalle Nation. Novalle is seven months pregnant and unlucky with sevens. As she realizes that she is stranded in a Wal-Mart where her boyfriend Willy Jack has left her with just $7.77 in change. Novalle then has to find herself and her baby on the way a home. Novalle is on the floor of the Wal-Mart when her water has just broke and the baby is on the way. Then Forney, the man she has met at the library crashes trough the window and breaks the glass. As he lies on the floor in pain he says " Novalle! " then rushes over to her. Then Forney helps deliver the baby and cut the umbilical cord. Forney takes her to the hospital to make sure the baby is safe and healthy. Novalle then decides to name her baby Americus Nation. Of all the books I've read Where the Heart Is has to be one of the top ones. If I were to read this book over and over again I would still enjoy it. This book taught me the real meaning of love and friendship. This book also explains that home is the safest and the best place for anyone. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a good read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Engaging and funny!
This book was funny. One can't help but love Novalee Nation. She embodies the phrase, "give me lemons and I'll make lemonade".Novalee finds a way to make the most of the life that she has, even when things are pretty bleak.Of course, it helps that she meets people who taking a liking to her and give her lots of support. It's a quick read, uncomplicated, hilarious.Take this on a cross-atlantic flight as I did....the 8 hours will fly by:)))

4-0 out of 5 stars You'll need to go to the dentist after reading this one....
So, as I was saying on another review, I was on a week long backpacking trip and happened to take this book (yes, I lugged this and another book over rugged terrain for five days - they sure don't recommend THAT in backpacking magazines.).Although this book is a little more syruppy than I prefer, it was a very quick read that provided much needed entertainment in the evenings. There was no effort needed to keep up with the story. The characters were endearing - the sort of people that if I'm ever deserted in a store that oppresses and exploits the working poor (oops - that's another review for another day...)- I hope that these are the people that I would meet. And yet, perhaps I already had - maybe a loopy aunt, an intense college friend - the beauty of the way they were expressed was that I'm sure we can all insert the faces of our own family into many of these characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Relevant, Insightful, Provocative, Life-Changing. A must-read!
Once again Peck's integrative approach (integrating psychology, spirituality (not dogma), and philosophy with practical experience) has produced a work of profound depth and value. In our times of "global war," the doctor's ideas about community making and peace are a prescription we could all benefit from.
4-0 out of 5 stars Peck Mixes Spirituality with Common Sense
Community isn't what we think it is.Peck does an impeccable job of explaining true community and why it is so elusive in our society.Though he mentions over and over that he is an idealist, Peck presents some very intelligent arguments as to why a community approach just makes sense. He isn't naive either. He says the road to community can be painful and extremely hard.

3-0 out of 5 stars A developmental model psychospirituality
After being catapulted to fame by his first book--the best-selling "The Road Less Travelled" --psychiatrist Morgan Scott Peck follows it up with another one on psychology and spirituality. The chapter that captured my interest without let was the one on his theory of psychospiritual development. He delineates four stages, each representing a more mature level of development than the preceding stage. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A revival of the series!
The previous years of the show has been a little dry. With Blackgaard dead, Jason off doing mission work outside the US, Jack and Johanne happily married, and Eugene and Katrina virtually Ignored, nothing was really happening on the show. Until now :) Kids' Radio is jammed with the singals of a Big Media Giant, someone breaks into Whit's End, a few kids run into a hacker on the Internet, and Jason returns to Odyssey. All of the sudden, things are ALIVE in Odyssey!! The series has abandoned the idea of split-episodes (the contraversial 15 minutes programs of the last few albums) and has started focusing on it's main characters for the last 13 years -- Whit, Tom and Connie. Plus, it's starting to sound fresh again...and few series, Radio-Tv or otherwise, can sound so alive and full of ideas after so long. So, hat's off to the new, Improved Adventures in Odyssey!! Keep it up!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Getting Better
Unlike the current trend of Adventures in Odyssey where the quality of the shows were going down, this album presents a small promise of a return to the normal Adventures in Odyssey writing. With the introduction of a new villian, and the start of some long term arc episodes, The Big Picture hopefully will mark the upswing in Odyssey writing. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Walking After Midnight vs. Wild Orchids
I loved both these books, and it's no wonder, because they're the same book!! The same plot lines, the same characters, the same story line, etc, etc. Both books keep you on the edge of your seat, you love the romance and the action, even though they're scene for scene the exact same thing.Buy them both, they're both worth the read!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars This story should be a compelling romantic suspense to keep readers on the edges of their seats, but never quite delivers
Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques 1-0 out of 5 stars If I ha to read the lyrics to another song, I think I would have thrown the book out the window!
Okay, first of all, this was my first Karen Robards book and I have a hard time thinking I might read another one. I was so incrdibly disappointed with this story!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad "Acting" Spoils This Presentation
Sadly, the reader attempts to emote while reading the Psalms. Theoretically that's not a bad idea; it's just that he obviously has no clue as to the meaning and feeling of the Psalms. His presentation is outright harsh THROUGHOUT the entire Book of Psalms. He even managed to make Psalm 139 completely lose its intimacy and gratitude. The inappropriate contradictory feeling he puts into the Psalms is a big distraction from trying to meditate on and understand the text. It's so bad that I no longer use this compilation at all. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars It is well worth buying.
It is really easy to listen to because there are different women speakers who use alot of expression in their voice, so it doesn't get boring or monotone and i like how it opens each book with a speaker relating how they came to God from their background which is encouraging, especially to a new christian like myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I've been looking for
I've been wanting to listen to the Bible on CD for a while now, but have yet to find a CD set that I didn't find "cheesy." I tried the NIV Audio Bible, dramatized and non, and the careful, almost theatrical pronounication just didn't sound real to me. (I'm a 28-year-old woman.)
4-0 out of 5 stars Finally....the NCV on CD!
I liked the narration of the NCV Bible New Testament, and the stories were also memorable. This is a great idea, such a great idea that I thought to myself, "Why don't they have the COMPLETE NCV Bible on CD for EVERYONE, not just the ladies?".Thomas Nelson Publishers....that was for you.....(ahem...ahem)!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Get the older one instead
I got this set after sampling the older version of this product (still available, ISBN: 0842354468); and I'm disappointed with the reader's voice (Stephen Johnston). The more mature voice in the older edition is clearer and conveys the emotions so much better. While this is marketed as the dramatized version and the other version not, there are very few negligible differences between the two versions as far as the dramatizations are concerned; the bible is mostly narrations anyway. I guess some people do like Stephen Johnston's deep voice, but unless you've heard and prefer his voice, get the other version instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Different voices keep it fresh

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly awesome
I travel an hour to work and an hour home, and usually this is a very tiring journey. However, the Bible CD's makes this time fly by. The dramatization is truly amazing and never dull. This is really the perfect travel companion. I'm definately not sorry so far... ... Read more

Editorial Review

In 2019, humanity finally finds proof of extraterrestrial life when a listening post in Puerto Rico picks up exquisite singing from a planet which will come to be known as Rakhat. While United Nations diplomats endlessly debate a possible first contact mission, the Society of Jesus quietly organizes an eight-person scientific expedition of its own. What the Jesuits find is a world so beyond comprehension that it will lead them to question the meaning of being "human." When the lone survivor of the expedition, Emilio Sandoz, returns to Earth in 2059, he will try to explain what went wrong... Words like "provocative" and "compelling" will come to mind as you read this shocking novel about first contact with a race that creates music akin to both poetry and prayer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best ...
sci-fi books I've ever read. A hauntingly believable account of the first human voyage to an inhabited alien planet - with a little religious commentary thrown in. I've been a huge sci-fi fan for years, but this book destroyed any expectations I had regarding the way science fiction is written and read.
5-0 out of 5 stars True spirit of SiFi
This book is definately in the true spirit of SiFi.It's a must read for science fiction fans.Hopeing the sequel is as good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Science Fiction that has brain , heart and soul

3-0 out of 5 stars Good story, but it shouldn't include a street guide
This is a good page-turner including mystery and psycholgy. But the writer choose to include too many "street guide" details on locations. Sometimes reading the book felt like reading driving directions from Mapquest! It's good do descibe the surroundings, but not to that level of detail.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fast pace thriller....
I couldn't lay the book out of my hands until I finished if to the very end.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Intriguing
Annotation: Warning Signs is about the killing of Boulder's very prominent and popular D.A. The clinical psychologist, Dr. Alan Gregory, immediatley worries. His wife did work for the D.A. Alan's new patient seems to represent more than just another hour of pay. She has a secret that will literally, rock, Colorado. Things become especially dangerous when Alan realizes the link between the dead D.A. and his new patient. A definate page turner, never a dull moment.

Editorial Review

In 1984, Ron and Dan Lafferty murdered the wife and infant daughter of their younger brother Allen. The crimes were noteworthy not merely for their brutality but for the brothers' claim that they were acting on direct orders from God. In Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Murder, Religion, MormonsandFundamentalists
This is sort of "The DaVinci Code" of Mormonism. The difference though, is that Krakauer, unlike Dan Brown, does much better reasearch and is not writing fiction.Krakauer also reveals his personal biases in the author's notes at the end.
1-0 out of 5 stars Great works of fiction
I read the first 1/3 of the book, and had to quit, because it falls into my "great work of fiction" category. My major complaint with the book is with it's history of Mormonism.I have read the various official stories about how the gold plates were found, how the church was organized and other events from the LDS church.I have also read various differing accounts by detractors.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Take on LDS Origins, Current Schisms and a Tragic Crime Spree
When I first read Jon Krakauer's INTO THIN AIR, I became fascinated with all things Everest.(All things except actually climbing the growing peak, that is.)So when this became a book club pick, my curiosity was piqued.(Glad I got my 'p' word quota out of the way this early.)
