Dave and Clarice Johnson have been married for twelve years. In that time they have drifted apart, but they share the same house and same bed.Yet their dreams and goals are so different.
5-0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming and Real!
T.D. Jakes' book is timely and engaging! Each page will have you yearning for more. Not Easily Broken book proves how, no matter how earth shattering the struggle, God is still a God of healing and restoration within marriages.I highly recommend it; excellent read!
5-0 out of 5 stars The plot keeps you moving!
I can count on one hand the number of fiction books I've read in the last 10 years, but I couldn't put this one down! It captured my attention from the very first page, and I could relate to the characters immediately. I read it in two evenings. You'll want to keep going to see what happens, especially after the book takes a surprise turn. The other reviewer is correct...it's real without being preachy. And it should speak to the hearts of married women, esp. those of us with good men that we sometimes take for granted. Grab the book, light up the fire, get a cup of coffee, get the kids to bed, and have at it! A great book!!! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars kool-aid stock is soaring
I must admit that a misguided person gave me this book. Worse yet, she expected me to swoon and join her on my knees and pray for rapture.

    . . . and more nonsense.
5-0 out of 5 stars What will it be like in heaven?
This book answered that question for me.I know that the writers of this book or anyone else on earth does not truly know what heaven will be like, but they did an amazing job of illustrating what heaven might be like.I have read the whole Left Behind Series and I have to say that The Rapture was one of my favorites. The imagery in this book gave me such an excitement of what it will be like the day the Jesus returns for his children.I absolutely loved this book and the Left Behind Series.I am not an Eglish major or anything close to it and I know some people may complain about plots, and charcter development, and all this and that, but if you are a Christian and want to read a great series, then Left Behind is for you.I also recommend this book to non-Christians who have any interest at all in Jesus Christ and his return. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Where is the Glory?!
I dragged myself through every novel in this series with soap-opera like compulsion, always looking forward to the climatic appearance of our Lord. Therefore, I anticipated this final novel to be glorious, as the title indicates, but I was woefully wrong. Are my expectations too lofty for the day of our coming King and His Kingdom?Certainly not!
4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story
I truely enjoyed reading the series and actually hate to have reached the end. I am blessed to see the reviews of other christians who enjoyed the series as much as I did. This book was straight from the Bible and painted a picture in my mind of what the glorious appearing could be like. I think Rayford should have spent more time with Kenny rather than he being put off on others especially after his "job" was done. I also wish there would have been more to the reunions at the end, it focused on Rayfords family but I think there would have been more to it that what is written. Overall I love this series and hope they do make more movies based on the books. God Bless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meet Jesus, God as He Really Is
I must admit I was surprised by how many people gave this book bad reviews. This book offers a biblical account of the return of Christ based on what we know from the Bible, especially from the book of Revelation. I was more surprised for the reasons that were used to justify those bad ratings. Since so many others have used this page to support their views, I have decided to do the same.

    Editorial Review

Piloting his 747, Rayford Steele is musing about his wife Irene's irritating religiosity and contemplating the charms of his "drop-dead gorgeous" flight attendant, Hattie. First Irene was into Amway, then Tupperware, and now it's the Rapture of the Saints--the scary last story in the Bible in which Christians are swept to heaven and unbelievers are left behind to endure the Antichrist's Tribulation. Steele believes he'll put the plane on autopilot and go visit Hattie. But Hattie's in a panic: some of the passengers have disappeared! The Rapture has happened, abruptly driverless cars are crashing all over, and the slick, sinister Romanian Nicolae Carpathia plans to use the UN to establish one world government and religion. Resembling "a young Robert Redford" and silver-tongued in nine languages, Carpathia is named Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Just REALLY BAD writing!
Ok, I don't mean to be rude, but if you think this is great writing you are woefully uneducated. It is almost a sad confirmation of the common stereotype of fundamentalist Christians being uneducated yokels that so many of them think this is great writing. Here's my take: I'd enjoy a good "end of times" story - this just isn't it. The Left Behind series is amateurish and poorly written and just plain astonishing to me that it has had such huge success. P.T. Barnum once said that no one ever went broke understimating the intelligence of the American public and this series proves it. Christians should demand better writing from their revered authors. Go read some C.S. Lewis or something - please.
2-0 out of 5 stars Christian fundamentalism dramatized
Even the avid "trekie" reader of the Star Trek science fiction novels, movies and television series must suspend disbelief, when he finds Captain Kirk saying "Beam me up, Scotty."But the biblical literalist reading this book need make no such effort, when he reads in this book that Jesus will effectively beam millions of true Christians up to heaven in the world-wide "Rapture."Though the characters and their roles are fictitious, the book specifically references the relevant biblical passages for the believer.
5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest out of all books...
Left Behind book one is by-far the best book out of the first five adult books that I have read. This book is science-fiction and is a fast reader. The Left Behind collection is about the Earths last days when Jesus comes from heaven and chooses the chosens one. If you believe in the bible and know Jesus is real you will not be Left Behind. It starts out with Rayford steele in countrol of a 747 passanger Jet flying over the Alantic. As he is doing that he is thinking about the Senior Flight attendent, Hattie Durham. She is young and atractive. But he is loyle to his wife, Irene, so he wont ruin there relationship. Rayford has two kids. Ray JR. age 12 and Chloe, coming home from college. When Rayford isnt working he never really goes to church. Only ray Jr. and Irene every sunday and Chloe is always at college. But to know the rest you must read the book. Left Behind is Kinda hard to understand and has some hard words in it. (Recommened age group 8th grade-13 years of age.) Craig- Monticello,Illinois ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Even though its a little long winded, this is what everyone says it is.Comprehensive! But do we really need to know all this?Or, at best, couldn't this be summed up in about 100 or so pages less?

5-0 out of 5 stars About time to reframe the "debate"
Nancy Pearcey's easy-to-read book will tell people of faith, especially Christians, how to reframe the "debate" (as though it ever WAS a debate except in the minds of scientists) between science and faith vis a vis the origins of life. Pearcey goes into great and revealing detail about how people of faith automatically have their arguments about the origins of life disregarded as "values" instead of "facts". She does an excellent job of debunking the notion that evolution is fact-based, despite the general consensus of most scientists. (They are changing their minds in droves, by the way.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for truth seekers!
This book is a great introduction to some of the major scientific challenges to the theory of Darwinian Evolution.
5-0 out of 5 stars Does Evolution Rest Upon Scientific Evidence or a Philosophy of Naturalism?
Darwin on Trial was responsible for alerting many among the public and in the scientific community to the deficiencies of Darwinism. UC Berkeley law professor Phillip E. Johnson applies his skills as an analyzer of evidence to ask if Darwin's theory holds up to scrutiny.
2-0 out of 5 stars Interesting presentation of creationist viewpoint
Were a plumber or an an auto mechanic to look for supernatural causes behind a pipe clog or engine problem, you might think his skills questionable. But according to this book, if a biologist is not willing to accept supernatural causes for the origin of species, he is imposing anti-religious views on the rest of us.As with most conservative thinkers, Johnson seems intent on splitting the country into two halves. Those who think like him are good and believe in God, those who do not are atheists who believe in evolution. While this has worked well for conservatives on political issues, it is less effective in this case since it is rather clear that many if not most of the scientists supporting evolution are Christians, not atheists as Johnson insists. It is one of many lapses in this poorly written and overrated book. His contention that the US is a Christian country which at best tolerates other religious viewpoints suggests that he looks on the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion as simply a suggestion. It also has nothing to do with evolutionary theory and everything to do with the author's own prejudices.Johnson feels that any unexplained gap in evolution supports the theory of an intelligent designer by default. For Johnson, if the theory of evolution cannot shed like on everything instantly, it sheds light on nothing. The author feels that as a Christian it is inappropriate to tolerate any suggestion of a natural explanation for creation of the universe, creation of the earth, or the creation of man.Johnson's view seems to be that certain things related to Christian theology should be off limits to ANY sort of scientific examination. In spite of the failings of the author, the publisher has presented the book well. The physical quality is quite good and belies the sloppiness of the writing.I am not sure if this is the best place to get an understanding of the thinking behind the anti-evolution movement but I think it is a good place to start.I suspect the muddled and misguided presentation of the author is endemic to this type of book.It is also an outgrowth of the book's basic conceit, that a lawyer can provide objective insights into science. In fact, scientists may pretend to objectivity but lawyers specialize in advocacy and this book presents a lawyer at his worst. He misreads evolutionary theory as meaningless. In fact it provides a predictive model.Organisms are the sum total of both ancestral characteristics and those variations which permit the organism to function and survive within its environment. It is a fundamental point that gives the theory its strength, something which Johnson either does not understand or choses to ignore.Unfortunately, there is no voice to correct him.If Johnson proves anything, it is that when he is permitted to provide the defense, he can win any prosecution.Putting a dead man on trial with no voice raised in his defense: this must be an attorney's dream come true. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Some good Points but not much ground-breaking information
This book was fairly well written with some interesting and helpful points. The idea of using Jesus as the main subject of assessment in this book is a good choice in my view. However, I finished the book without being able to say that anything I read REALLY struck a chord or at least made me say "this is great stuff!"
5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Devotional Booklet for Christian Leaders!
I didn't expect this title to be a devotional work.Instead, I was ready to find an instructional volume filled with leadership principles from the life of Jesus. While at first disappointed, I continued to read and to find hope and motivation as a Christian leader.

1-0 out of 5 stars Makes the Bible Seem Like a Good Read
I'm not Christian. I'm Agnostic and I picked up the book because I thought it looked interesting and I wanted to learn something about Christianity.
    4-0 out of 5 stars It's A Very Good Christian Fiction..Duh!
What's with all the glooming reviews? It's a christian fiction--as pointed out by the authors on the cover themselves. When embarking upon a book, I looked to be entertained and this book clearly does it for me as well as it should for ANY reader. So I defend the book's purpose.I can't put it down and I'm only half way through it--enjoying it in fact.
3-0 out of 5 stars May be better if I started at one.
Never hearing of this series or this author this book came recommended with mixed feelings -- Since I have never read this series my review will be based solely on this book. First, The quality of writing isn't very good, I still have problems with naming one of the primary characters since none of them really made me care enough about them. The story begins late in the Tribulation. A plague of darkness and pain is on the city of New Babylon, the capitol of the Anti-Christ. There are questions of whether or not the Safe House is still safe and Chloe Steele-Williams gets captured by the Global Community troops. Believers must get out of New Babylon as God's further judgment is coming. As the book progresses, the story jumps several months and the final judgments from Revelation are unleashed. More than one major character is killed in this book, so there is some shakeup going on in the cast of characters. Which ones and in what way I will leave for the reader to find out. Putting the flaws aside, this book does not drag on too badly in any one place. It's alright, but if you haven't read any of them(like me) you'll probably want to start at the beginning -- maybe if I had, I would have enjoyed it more. Since I started here, the book ranks only a three.

These books tell a great story whether or not you believe what's behind them. I have been loaning them out to friends and family after I have been through with them. A good price and a good story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wowowowowowowowwow!
I read the entire series of these books within 2 months. My son brought it home one day, the next day my boss just happened to ask if I had read 'Left Behind' series. I said 'what?' He showed it to me...said I had to read...my son and I had a race until the Glorious Appearing. (My boss had all twelve in his desk cabinet)I think that even though this book is fiction, it gives an excellent picture of what could happen. Because...none of us truly know. I enjoyed this book because it enhances the reader to follow Jesus, what it truly means to have faith and be a follower. Excellent and irreplacable!!!

Tim LaHaye, Jerry Jenkins, and others in the Pre-Trib circle, such as Ed Hindson, Tommy Ice, Chuck Missler, etc., continue to put forth the same deceptions that Hal Lindsey popularized decades ago.The notion of a pre-tribulation rapture is foreign to scripture, it is foreign to the teachings of the early Church, and it is grooming the Church for destruction through ignorance and lack of preparation for what is really coming. These men are novices and not prophecy "experts" or "scholars" by any stretch of the imagination; they are those who tickle the ears of gullible Christians. Why continue to be deceived?Tim Cohen, in his excellent book, "The AntiChrist and a Cup of Tea," provides biblically sound and testable evidence to show that the coming AntiChrist is known NOW.Not only that, the same author (Tim Cohen) has now put out the strongest presentation on the whole issue of the rapture EVER offered to the saints of God in Christ: "The REAL Rapture".If you really want to know the truth about the timing of the coming rapture, then you need to hear Tim Cohen's "The REAL Rapture" (based on a volume in his forthcoming "Messiah, History, and the Tribulation Period" series (see Prophecy House's web site, prophecyhouse dot com, for details on these items).

1-0 out of 5 stars Unbiblical and bad writing make for one star
This book is so flawed in every which way, it is hard to know where to begin. First of all, we are living in the end times, and when Jesus comes, that's all she wrote, folks. There's no seven years, no Christians being zapped up, etc. This is our Second Chance on Earth. No tribulation. This book takes figurative visions and tries to apply it literally, and does it poorly. Reading this book made me think that if this was true, then what's the point of trying to be a Christian. Why not just live your life the way you want to, and then when people zap out of thin air, change your life. It's ridiculous and sends the wrong message. Plus, the writing is for second graders with no redeeming characteristics to it. But I really don't think the author's care at this point (seeing how many millions they've made printing lies). My recommendation is to read the bible instead of this series; then you'll get truth and the bible is probably shorter (and much better writing). Man, not even Kirk Cameron could save this train wreck.

1-0 out of 5 stars lots of fill...little thrill
As a piece of entertainment, this book falls flat. Way flat. There is a story here, but mundane sub-plots (including the love story) are thrown in in an attempt to fill the pages to make it a book.I found myself skipping pages - lots of them - to get to the point.Overall, very disappointing.

1-0 out of 5 stars HATE FICTION
Clearly the tens of millions of fouls who read this racist [...] fail to see it for exactly what is; an endorsement of Ethnic cleansing. If the tables were turned and a Jew, or a Muslim wrote a series in which anyone who disagreed with Judaism, or Islam was BRUTALLY MURDERED than the same fundamentalists idiots who take such disgusting pleasure out of this garbage would go simply ape s**t. I do not know what is more pathetic the fact that there are actually fundamentalist Lunatics out there who write this truly unforgivable racist garbage, or the large number of dimwits out who eagerly wait to throw their money away on each installment of HATEFUL FILTH!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Takes vague prophecies much too seriously
"Tribulation Force" is not as good as the first book in the "Left Behind" series. The authors seem to be doing so much maneuvering to get their characters into the right crucial positions around the Antichrist, that there's almost no time left for the story.

2-0 out of 5 stars I can stand no more....
First, I listened to the unabridged audio edition. Its clearly missing a few scenes referenced in this novel. However, what I don't miss is the endless scenes of people falling to their knees, weeping, invoking God and tearing their clothes. The count choc-u-lah voice of Anti-Christ was ludicrous and painful to hear. The endless discussions of hacking, and reading lengthy sermons from Judah, and listening to Chloe whine and Buck cry. I honestly can read no more. I thought I could finish out this series, but the Desecration was the worst book I've read in the series to date. Carpathia cavorting on the back of the pig was the final straw.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Least Favorite in the Series... Slow
I like Lahaye's bookbut I found Apollyon to be a plodding, slow rehash of earlier works... At least the first 3/4's were. Lessee Ben Judah preaches, Rayford acts holier-than-thou, various non-essential characters are killed, Chloe speed-dials buck, and Buck does his Indiana Jones routine. The Trib force stops and tries to convert every Tom, Dick, and Hattie they meet and have instant gratification by seeing the 'sign' appear on their newly converted forheads. Bingo! You've just won a believer!
4-0 out of 5 stars Destruction and pain are the formula for LB #5: Apollyon.
What a mixed bag this book was. it was typical Left Behind fare: 400 pages of theorizing, agonizing, and evil antichrist mischief in the face of God's chosen people; but still, things are slow in the LB universe at this point, so while it is entertaining, nothing really of note happens in this book. Nothing concrete, anyway. This is the book, though, where a LOT of things get rolling, though.
