5-0 out of 5 stars HELPFUL ADVICE FOR FINDING YOUR SWEET SPOT
In this book, Lucado shares the statistic that 87 percent of workers are slaving outside of their sweet spots, that place where passions and talents intersect. His book is filled with inspirational insight as well as practical tools for finding the cure.
5-0 out of 5 stars Not too many christian authors can be revered by Dr. Phil, Alan Colmes, and Lee Strobel at the same time
I agree with other five star reviewers when I say MAX HAS DONE IT AGAIN.Ever since the first Lucado book I read (When God whispers your name) I have been a huge fan.I consider myself a discerner, and its great to relax my pride a bit and savor the books of Max Lucado.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great perspective even if you are on the mommy track!
As a former leadership development trainer, I LOVED this book. I am now a stay at home Mom and this book spoke volumes to me, even in my situation (outside the workforce) about finding a ministry niche in addition to my new vocation as Mom.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the Best Study Bible
I really love my Max Lucado Inspirational NKJV Study Bible. It's a wonderful study bible with many sidebars of life lessons of Lucado's teaching guides. This the only one I use because it helps me to have a better understanding of the Scriptures. Each Book of the Old and New Testaments are laid out in an instruction manual style. All chapters are boldly titled to explain the situation for each one. The Life Lessons examines more closely the situation, makes observations, gives inspiration, makes application and gives further explorations of other scriptures throughout the Bible. It's chalkful of footnotes of many reliable references. Throughout this study gem are more inspirational ancedotes from Grace, Forgiveness, Suffering and Victory to God's Love, Hope, Prayer and Faith. And many more worthwhile inspirations that will bless your life. Even more, it has one hundred greatest thoughts, an index to selected readings, a dictionary with topical concordance, acknowledgments from many great references from the most notable names in Christianity. There's even a place in the back to add your own notes. I'm sure this is the only study bible you'll ever use. I find it to be the most comprehensive, enriching masterpiece of the Holy Bible yet. I would definitely give this as a nice gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Study Bible
I found this to be an excellent study tool. Max Lucado does not give a commentary on the verses. Instead he gives a life application lesson with the scriptures and a devotional thought. XCELLENT!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Inspirational Study Bible, the very best ever
I love the Inspirational Study Bible, mine is NKJV. It has truly opened the word up to me as never before. I love reading and studying from it. It helps me understand a lot more of what was going on at the times the books were written. Mostly it helps me apply the Word to my own life. It has spoiled me, I have hunted several times for it in leather bound, I sure wish they would make it. I would get 1 for every member of my family. Read more

I must admit that a misguided person gave me this book. Worse yet, she expected me to swoon and join her on my knees and pray for rapture.

5-0 out of 5 stars What will it be like in heaven?
This book answered that question for me.I know that the writers of this book or anyone else on earth does not truly know what heaven will be like, but they did an amazing job of illustrating what heaven might be like.I have read the whole Left Behind Series and I have to say that The Rapture was one of my favorites. The imagery in this book gave me such an excitement of what it will be like the day the Jesus returns for his children.I absolutely loved this book and the Left Behind Series.I am not an Eglish major or anything close to it and I know some people may complain about plots, and charcter development, and all this and that, but if you are a Christian and want to read a great series, then Left Behind is for you.I also recommend this book to non-Christians who have any interest at all in Jesus Christ and his return. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Where is the Glory?!
I dragged myself through every novel in this series with soap-opera like compulsion, always looking forward to the climatic appearance of our Lord. Therefore, I anticipated this final novel to be glorious, as the title indicates, but I was woefully wrong. Are my expectations too lofty for the day of our coming King and His Kingdom?Certainly not!
4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story
I truely enjoyed reading the series and actually hate to have reached the end. I am blessed to see the reviews of other christians who enjoyed the series as much as I did. This book was straight from the Bible and painted a picture in my mind of what the glorious appearing could be like. I think Rayford should have spent more time with Kenny rather than he being put off on others especially after his "job" was done. I also wish there would have been more to the reunions at the end, it focused on Rayfords family but I think there would have been more to it that what is written. Overall I love this series and hope they do make more movies based on the books. God Bless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meet Jesus, God as He Really Is
I must admit I was surprised by how many people gave this book bad reviews. This book offers a biblical account of the return of Christ based on what we know from the Bible, especially from the book of Revelation. I was more surprised for the reasons that were used to justify those bad ratings. Since so many others have used this page to support their views, I have decided to do the same.

I own all of the Abrams Daughters books and when I bought them I read a little before I bought them and thought these are probably boring to read but I ended up buying them they are a vary good read it took me about two days on each book because I couldn't put them down.Again vary good read and I liked how Mrs Lewis knows about what she wrights and how I felt I was right in the story like I was actuly in the county in Pennslvania and living and working side by side with them I highly recamend them if you haven't read them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Story & Series
I started to read the second book first (oops) then realizing it I put it down read the first and was hooked! What a fascinating tale that takes you through PA Dutch Amish lifestyle. As a PA Dutch descendant I learned a great deal and came away with a new personal understanding of my grandparents and family.I am a great fan of Beverly Lewis now and have read literally everything she has published to date.Mrs. Lewis is a great story teller and I recommend that you read her other books. As an obviously devout Christian woman she brings God and Christ into her stories but in an interesting way that serves to bring about some personal reflection to the reader and still makes story sense.Love the books I devour them in days!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best books I have read in years
As a school teacher who is originally from PA.I look forward to reading during the summer.I can not put this series down.I am compelled to read each detail.I am not generally an emotional person but one of the story lines in the "Sacrifice" made my eyes well up.I have shared this book with my frail mother-in-law who has seen much pain in her life. She loves these stories also. ... I recently and unexpectently lost my mother. In the past 3 months, so many unexplained feelings have hit me like a brick. This book, especially chapter 11 (most recently) has been so meaningful to me and why I am having these feelings. It is a comfort to me to open the book and find some solace where I couln't find it before.

    Editorial Review

Piloting his 747, Rayford Steele is musing about his wife Irene's irritating religiosity and contemplating the charms of his "drop-dead gorgeous" flight attendant, Hattie. First Irene was into Amway, then Tupperware, and now it's the Rapture of the Saints--the scary last story in the Bible in which Christians are swept to heaven and unbelievers are left behind to endure the Antichrist's Tribulation. Steele believes he'll put the plane on autopilot and go visit Hattie. But Hattie's in a panic: some of the passengers have disappeared! The Rapture has happened, abruptly driverless cars are crashing all over, and the slick, sinister Romanian Nicolae Carpathia plans to use the UN to establish one world government and religion. Resembling "a young Robert Redford" and silver-tongued in nine languages, Carpathia is named Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Just REALLY BAD writing!
Ok, I don't mean to be rude, but if you think this is great writing you are woefully uneducated. It is almost a sad confirmation of the common stereotype of fundamentalist Christians being uneducated yokels that so many of them think this is great writing. Here's my take: I'd enjoy a good "end of times" story - this just isn't it. The Left Behind series is amateurish and poorly written and just plain astonishing to me that it has had such huge success. P.T. Barnum once said that no one ever went broke understimating the intelligence of the American public and this series proves it. Christians should demand better writing from their revered authors. Go read some C.S. Lewis or something - please.
2-0 out of 5 stars Christian fundamentalism dramatized
Even the avid "trekie" reader of the Star Trek science fiction novels, movies and television series must suspend disbelief, when he finds Captain Kirk saying "Beam me up, Scotty."But the biblical literalist reading this book need make no such effort, when he reads in this book that Jesus will effectively beam millions of true Christians up to heaven in the world-wide "Rapture."Though the characters and their roles are fictitious, the book specifically references the relevant biblical passages for the believer.
5-0 out of 5 stars The greatest out of all books...
Left Behind book one is by-far the best book out of the first five adult books that I have read. This book is science-fiction and is a fast reader. The Left Behind collection is about the Earths last days when Jesus comes from heaven and chooses the chosens one. If you believe in the bible and know Jesus is real you will not be Left Behind. It starts out with Rayford steele in countrol of a 747 passanger Jet flying over the Alantic. As he is doing that he is thinking about the Senior Flight attendent, Hattie Durham. She is young and atractive. But he is loyle to his wife, Irene, so he wont ruin there relationship. Rayford has two kids. Ray JR. age 12 and Chloe, coming home from college. When Rayford isnt working he never really goes to church. Only ray Jr. and Irene every sunday and Chloe is always at college. But to know the rest you must read the book. Left Behind is Kinda hard to understand and has some hard words in it. (Recommened age group 8th grade-13 years of age.) Craig- Monticello,Illinois ... Read more

I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this workbook, because the others I've purchased by various othe authors just really didn't teach me or help me.
5-0 out of 5 stars what a Godsend....
What a treasure! I have just started working in this workbook, but have thouroughly enjoyed it so far. My wife's womens group is using this in their bible study and she is about 75% complete. Everyday and everyweek brings new and lifechanging insight. It is amazing how quickly some of the lessons and experiences from the book can be applied to everyday life. It is as if God is controlling the timing of your work with what is happening in your life. STRONGLY recommended for anyone who wants to better connect with and feel Jesus's love.

This book is fabulous.I so appreciate it's "workbook" type style to get me reading the bible and seeing the reality and references to Jesus' love for us.Being able to take pencil to paper to not just read the bible, but process what is being said is so helpful for me.Max Lucados conversational style is thoughout the book as well giving perspective and wisdom in his very relateable fashion.I strongly recommend this book, for baby Christians on up to the very well versed. Thanks Max! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Truly encouraging
If you have been burned by religious folk who are not "merciful to those who doubt," (Jude 22) you will find a special mixture of safety, truth, and encouragement in Come Thirsty. What makes Max Lucado so special is his ability to speak to ordinary people as well as understand spiritually broken hearts and gently lead them back into the fold of God's love. The grace in Lucado's tone does as much to assure the heart of God's grace as does the strong biblical roots of his message, and his real world illustrations help show how the biblical truth of God's goodness is so relevant to everyday life and not just merely an abstract doctrine.

Lucado's splash of living water for thirsty souls is much like the water he uses as an image: not heavy, but refreshing. By "not heavy," I mean that in typical Lucado fashion, this is light reading, not heavy or deep theology (although his summary on the Bible's teaching on angels on pages 108-114 is well-researched).
5-0 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong with Max
Is there any better way to compliment study or prayer time with a little Max Lucado. In a world which we must live with our antennas up and dealing with sin and heresy -- even in our own lives and our own churches -- the writings of Max Lucado always calm the soul and refresh the spirit. He can tell why the Bible says not to sin in a way that's not abrasive and hypocritcal, yet confrontational. He can write about the Holy Spirit in a way that accentuates the love of God, yet contains discernment of the sweaty TV evangelists who tear apart believers. He explains stories and life experiences in a manner that connects us directly with God.

1-0 out of 5 stars Makes the Bible Seem Like a Good Read
I'm not Christian. I'm Agnostic and I picked up the book because I thought it looked interesting and I wanted to learn something about Christianity.
    4-0 out of 5 stars It's A Very Good Christian Fiction..Duh!
What's with all the glooming reviews? It's a christian fiction--as pointed out by the authors on the cover themselves. When embarking upon a book, I looked to be entertained and this book clearly does it for me as well as it should for ANY reader. So I defend the book's purpose.I can't put it down and I'm only half way through it--enjoying it in fact.
3-0 out of 5 stars May be better if I started at one.
Never hearing of this series or this author this book came recommended with mixed feelings -- Since I have never read this series my review will be based solely on this book. First, The quality of writing isn't very good, I still have problems with naming one of the primary characters since none of them really made me care enough about them. The story begins late in the Tribulation. A plague of darkness and pain is on the city of New Babylon, the capitol of the Anti-Christ. There are questions of whether or not the Safe House is still safe and Chloe Steele-Williams gets captured by the Global Community troops. Believers must get out of New Babylon as God's further judgment is coming. As the book progresses, the story jumps several months and the final judgments from Revelation are unleashed. More than one major character is killed in this book, so there is some shakeup going on in the cast of characters. Which ones and in what way I will leave for the reader to find out. Putting the flaws aside, this book does not drag on too badly in any one place. It's alright, but if you haven't read any of them(like me) you'll probably want to start at the beginning -- maybe if I had, I would have enjoyed it more. Since I started here, the book ranks only a three.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Entertaining and a great value
I love this set.The performers are superb, and are clearly having fun with the reading, the text is unabridged, and there is a complete lack of chessy effects or background sound track, with the exception of segway music at the beginning and end of each CD, which I personally find very a very nice prompt to switch CDs. Even the questionable nod to femminism by including Lynn Redgrave as a reader for "Prince Caspian" does not diminish the production or entertainment value one iota. They presented in a different order from the original book series publication, but that was no matter to me: I simply listen to them in the coreect sequence.I am perfectly content to hear how it all began later rather than sooner.

4-0 out of 5 stars What A Wonderful World It Is
The Chronicles of Narnia - the audios were really quite good. They are each done by different actors.Kenneth Branagh, who I know from Harry Potter's Chamber of Secrets, did well with the story telling of the first book "The Magician's Nephew".All the other actors were wonderful as well. But the best, to me, was Patrick Stewart, in "The Last Battle". What a performance. He caught my attention. So very dramatic, very passionate and funny!Overall, I enjoyed it.And to me, it's almost up there with Harry Potter's audio, and Lord of the Rings audio with Ian Holmes, playing the role of Frodo. If you want to buy it go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not The Same Old Same Old.....
With many endtimes books on the market, several by LaHaye and Ice, I'd expected that this book would be predictable and redundant, so was surprised that its unique combination of 50 colorful charts with instructive text indeed adds to prophecy comprehension. So, for example regarding the Temple Mount, instead of merely reading a historical and discriptive narrative, there's also the following--
1-0 out of 5 stars Why continue to be deceived...
Tim LaHaye, Jerry Jenkins, and others in the Pre-Trib circle, such as Ed Hindson, Tommy Ice, Chuck Missler, etc., continue to put forth the same deceptions that Hal Lindsey popularized decades ago.The notion of a pre-tribulation rapture is foreign to scripture, it is foreign to the teachings of the early Church, and it is grooming the Church for destruction through ignorance and lack of preparation for what is really coming. These men are novices and not prophecy "experts" or "scholars" by any stretch of the imagination; they are those who tickle the ears of gullible Christians. Why continue to be deceived?Tim Cohen, in his excellent book, "The AntiChrist and a Cup of Tea," provides biblically sound and testable evidence to show that the coming AntiChrist is known NOW.Not only that, the same author (Tim Cohen) has now put out the strongest presentation on the whole issue of the rapture EVER offered to the saints of God in Christ: "The REAL Rapture".If you really want to know the truth about the timing of the coming rapture, then you need to hear Tim Cohen's "The REAL Rapture" (based on a volume in his forthcoming "Messiah, History, and the Tribulation Period" series (see Prophecy House's web site, prophecyhouse dot com, for details on these items).
