Don't worry, be happy.
There are oh so many books, CDs, and courses about Spirituality. some many mean well and are heartfelt. But there is only one Meher Baba. This volume is a veritable bible for the seeker. I cannot think of any other books that are filled with complete understanding and that define the world we live in. It is truely a MUST own book. Do yourself the great favor of owning this treasure.

A complete spiritual text
A spiritual reference. This book is similar to Aurobindo's book as a spiritual instructional manual. Unlike Aurobindo's book this one wasn't pieced together by letters to disciples. It's much more coherent and consise. The information is very similar to Aurobindo's. Meher talks about Reincarnation, Karma, Maya, Meditation, Sanskaras, Ego, God, Realization, Love and Happiness from his enlightened perspective. Without even twisting Rumi's arm...
Yep, without even twisting Rumi's or Hafiz's arm I bet they would so gladly admit, "If you think I am cooking -- checkout the Avatar, Meher Baba... and this book is a good place to start."
Puts you to the test
One can't read this book whole-heartedly and remain neutral. Meher Baba sums up misc. philosophical and esoteric debates in a few lines here & there, all from the perspective of his casually-declared Avatarhood/Christhood. Such claims take time to settle in (since their vehicle isn't "ideas"), or maybe they never do for some folks, but the humor, compassion, and wisdom is there nonetheless. Teacher , Charlatan, or Jokester?
This small book is primarily about Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love & devotion though it also speaks briefly about Karma Yoga, the yoga of action.It seems more Feeler oriented than Vivekananda's book on Bhakti Yoga.While the author refers to several other religions (esp. Sufism), the book appears more Hinduism oriented to me.It has some truth & wisdom but mostly of a common variety (platitudes galore) available in many other works including New Age books.However, the author says he is God (see p. 21 diagram), "the ancient one" & has "divine authority:"pp. 109-110: "Baba is the Avatar of the Age & the greatest work anyone can do is to love Baba as Baba ought to be loved.He alone who can love Baba does Baba's work."He clearly states on p. 30 that he is not a yogi, saint, etc. & criticizes p. 87: "opiumized" saints.I think Namkhai Norbu's "The Supreme Source" is a better description of the nature of God, such as it can be described, but of course as a Buddhist work it's not anthropomorphic as are Hinduism books.

One of a kind - Must read
WOW!!! If there is one spiritual book that you should read, it is this one. It explains everything that you ever wanted to know - period. It anwered all my questions regarding life and its purpose. In order to fully leverage the content, Discources should be read first.

meaning of life
I was exposed to this book first by Avisa during medical school 1998.The book has changed my life.It helped me to cope with life problem much easier. It makes you understand life better, what is death and what happens to us when we die?Without purpose, life is meaningless.you become less materialistic. You can cope better with death of the loved one. I think all of us should read this book.I refer to it as a solution to problems.The book will be bring meaning to all the religion, Koran, Bible and Jew.The more time you read the book the more you get out of it, they say one must read it at least five times.I love this book, there is lots of love. God bless God in man.

GOD Speaks-WOW!
this book explains "the meaning of life"in a way that is the best raodmap I have ever seen before. The book is complex, not so easy to read but is so full of amazing info that it is worth the investment of time and effort it takes to go thru it. A superb translation
Even if -- as with this reviewer -- you don't beleive everything he says and even if you are not prepared to follow his teachings as a disciple, Meher Baba stands out as one of the 20th century's great religious personalities. Some translations of his writings have been poor -- but not this one.
