A handbook for a practicing Christian
How do we know when God is calling us to do something, or if we are getting answers to prayers? Unless we hear God's voice out of a burning bush or a pillar of fire, we are all too susceptible to rationalizing something we really want to do or one of our heart's desires to be God's will. This workbook is the most practical offerings I have ever seen as to how to tell the different. The Bible tells us to "test the Spirit" of such a communication, and this book tells us how. Easy to recommend.
This book is awesome!!!!
If you seek to grow closer to God, this book helps you to start doing just that.This book has challenged me in many areas of my life.I'm only in Unit 3 and have already noticed a change in my life.I love the fact that the authors don't give you a methodical approach to experiencing God, but they stress that God always takes the initiative in our love relationship with Him.We just need to respond to His invitation.I would recommend this book to everyone!

True to its title
Excellent book and very practical.Points out that to be a leader, you must be a follower---a follower of the Lord.

Must Reading for Novice Preachers
I am a big fan of Blackabys Experiencing God and was looking forward to reading his book on Spiritual Leadership.It was not what I expected.It is an excellent book on leadership, but it is more of a primer novice for leaders than a book for experienced leaders who want to sharpen their leadership skills and character. Helps to start each day with our Lord
I highly recommend this daily devotional for every Christian, new or old in the faith.I have bought this every year for the past 4 years.It is a wonderful way to keep a diary and helpful for looking back on to see your growth in our Lord.Each day you start with a passage from the Scriptures and a commentay about it.I do not always agree with the commentaries, but they do make me think about what the Lord is telling me through His Word.I can, also, look back and see how the Lord has helped me through bad times and also, more importantly, see how he has blessed me through them and also through my good times.I have found this a very helpful tool in my Christian growth.

Frank, No Fluff
I am very impressed with this combination of Devotional and Journal. Not many devotional journals have brought me to a point where i immediately see what God is teaching me for the time I'm digging deeper. A wonderfulcombination of daily insight backed by scripture. A must read book if youare searching for a stronger commitment to God, daily. Very blunt or frank.The author's get right to the heart. The journal portion is made availableby wide margins for your thoughts to be written down.

Excellent treatment on hearing God's voice
This book has been so helpful to me and to many of my friends.Henry and Richard Blackaby have done a marvelous job of describing how God speaks in the O.T. and how He speaks in the N.T. through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, through other people, and circumstances.They intersperse helpful anecdotes, conversion stories and personal illustrations from their lives throughout the book as well.
I learned so much from this book
Henry and Richard present a very Scriptural, balanced approach to this subject.This book helps us develop the kind of relationship with God where we know, recognize, and respond to His voice.While it's not some mystical, super-spiritual stuff, it does take time as we develop that kind of walk with God.
Great
I thought that this book was worth buying, I got a lot out of it. This book is about having a better relationship with God by learning to hear his voice, finding and following His will. It's a good book for new Christians and mature ones. They also ask the question if God talks to people today and if God has a will for every Christian's life, they present both arguments and give you their take, which I agree and that is that yes God has a will for your life. It talks about how to tell if something is from God or the devil. It also covers how God used to talk to people in the past as well as the present. WOW - Very moving book for Men and small groups
I have been going through this book with my men's small group and it has been great!I have been leading small groups through various different books and studies through the bible for over 10 years and this has been the best study I have found so far.I already ordered another set of books to start another small group in our church.This is a great study to get men on the right track to a relationship with God.Very convicting and inspiring study. The material continues to build each week and compliments what you have already read.Again - WOW
Inspiring and Practical!
This book begins with the truth from I Corinthians 1 which talks about God using the foolish things of the world to shame the wise and the weak things of the world to shame the strong. It discusses the fact that talent, abilities and skills do not impress God, that He will use whomever He decides to use in whatever way He desires. From there the point is made that God is more interested in a man's heart than his giftings. Chapter two devotes a section to listening to God and responding to His call. Faith is involved in accomplishing God's purposes. "God never told men to do something they could do on their own" write the authors (p. 49). A Great Book and Study To help Build Character
The study book was a great experience in understanding how God has and is able to use man.It really helped me to understand that building my relationship with GOD will only develop my character, which in turn will allow God to use me.Henry and Tom have done a great job through God to help guide others to be more righteous, and this book is a great example on how they have done that.Read more

A must read on repentance
One can go to any of the major Christian bookstores and not find one honest, straightforward book on repentance.This is one from a man who has walked out his repentance for over 50 years.I read through it in a few lengthy and painful evenings and it's time to read it again.
One of a kind
This is the only thorough-going work on repentance I have found. And thorough it is, being used by several seminaries. The fact that it is published by the highly reputable Crossway Books speaks of its integrity, and I can personally speak of its breadth and depth. A warning: this is not an easy book to read because it exposes personal areas that need to be addressed through repentance. It is not a theological abstract. Life changing Experience

Good and needful
Great book.But what I really want is to get hold of the Workbook which is not available in Malaysia. I'm sorry if I'm misusing this column - I don't how else to get through. We did Experiencing God a few years ago andI must say it is the best workbook ever - period. We got it from thePhilippines and it was half the price than if we got it from the States. Iunderstand from my local Baptist Bookshop in Penang, Malaysia that we canno longer get copies from the Philippines. That's not good for us. Pleaseauthorise sales to Asia from Philippines.Secondly, we need FreshEncounter workbooks - preferably printed in Philippines or Singapore. Careless Authorship: Caution
While you may find some portions helpful, Blackaby's misuse of Scripture in unit 3 is deplorable.I simply quote his summerizations, indeed his "Thought for the Day" from page 89: "Our living Lord has accepted your life from the Father and is at work 'making you to become' all God wants you to be."Jesus Christ is not making us to become all God wants; it is the Holy Spirit at work within us.However, Blackaby made a false parallel between us now and the disciples while Christ still walked among them.The key events Blackaby overlooks are Christ's ascension and the Spirit's reception, i.e. Pentecost.

Good Read, But Not Blackaby's Best
In my humble opinion, while "Power of the Call" is a good read,I got more spiritual food reading "Experiencing God" and "Spiritual Leadership". Don't Buy This Book Because of Its Cover!
I must say I was disappointed after reading this book.I have seen my own life and the lives of many church members transformed by Blackaby's "Experiencing God" material.Based upon the book jacket comments, I had hoped this volume would have similar significance for pastors particularly.I was mistaken.
