5-0 out of 5 stars Makes you think!
The entire time I read this book all I could think about was "What if this happened to me?" Very good reading! Can't wait to read the sequel.
5-0 out of 5 stars Last Light
I watch for new every title Terri publishes. Each book of her many series stands alone, yet keeps you hungry for the next in a series. As soon as I finished Last Light I immediately ordered Night Light (Book#2.) Others have written about the Last Light story line, basically I concur. But I had a couple of issues with the reality side of such an event. The biggest disconnect with me was the failure of all engines with a computer chip, from cars to home generators. That's certainly true in theory. But I can't believe that even in a smaller community a few bright mechanics or engineers could not tinker with these things and figure out a way to by pass the fried electornics. In Book 2 someone finally gets a brain and realizes that older cars (classics) still run. In the Branning's upscale neighborhood, don't tell me that someone didn't have an old Porche or restored '57 Chevy in their garage.Granted, it would take a lot of tinkering to get a modern SUV running when the chip(s) goes bad, but a couple of shade tree mechanics with a lot of time on their hands and a big incentive to succeed could certainly gerry-rig a bunch of direct wires and fire that sucker up.It might run rough, but it would run.Same for the home generator. For the sake of the story itself, which was about the people dealing with the crisis, it was probably better for the author to ignore these ideas.Still, it hurt my reading enjoyment as I placed myself in the character's shoes. Oh yeah, I went and stocked up on batteries and other "Hurricane items" after reading the book.... just in case!Lou Sauer, Raleigh, NC

5-0 out of 5 stars LIFE AS YOU KNOW IT . . . GONE. NOW WHAT?
I'd heard of Terri Blackstock. Knew she was a Christian fiction writer. Figured she wrote prairie romances.

Both of these books are wonderful!I read them cover to cover!Terri Blackstock has done it again!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book
Terri Blackstock has done it again. This book made me think of the end of time...when we all must come together...trust in God for our needs and know he will provide as he says in scripture. What an awesome book and ending!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great second chapter to the series!
I really loved this next book and now can't wait for the third book in this Restoration series. In this book, services and functions improve a bit (using pre-computer technology) and the people become very practical.Concerns of left-behind children, etc. come into the picture.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely loved it!
I read this entire series and I absolutely loved it. Moved at a perfect pace and I enjoyed the characters. I am a big fan ofTerri's novels.
4-0 out of 5 stars Bring on the Red Herrings!
I think this is the most satisfying mystery from Teri Blackstock yet. Without giving away the ending let me just hint that I was totally fooled by the Red Herrings in this mystery. As good as the story line is I agree with other reviewers that the characters drive this story (as in all good novels). The thread of restorationis strong throughout the story and the bond of parent and child is powerful. This is an excellent ending to a very good series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
In Breakers Reef, the fourth in the Cape Refuge series, the body of a well-liked teenage girl from Cape Refuge is discovered by Chief Cades' rookie officer, Scott Crown. The body has been staged to look like a murder described in the novel written by an eccentric mystery writer who recently moved to town. Clues planted by the murderer's accomplice lead the Cape Refuge police (and the reader!) to false conclusions. Soon after the first murder, there is another, this time discovered by the Chief himself. As law enforcement struggles to find solid evidence and sort the real clues, three people go missing. It's a race to find them before one of them ends up dead.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too much preaching
There really should be a disclaimer on the back of this book; the description given doesn't prepare the reader for the incessant preaching. What could have been a decent mystery is totally ruined by the insertion of religion in nearly every sentence. If Ms. Blackstock wants her books to reach a wider audience then she needs to tone it down a lot.If she's satisfied with "preaching to the choir" then she's done the job well because these books will never be successful out in the real world.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cape Refuge Series
When I find out about a good series, I try to read them in order but it's time consuming to find the order in which they're written. So, I'm going to provide that for anyone else who's interested.
4-0 out of 5 stars Another great start to Christian suspense series
Cape Refuge by Terri Blackstock is the first in the self-titled series.Blackstock is a wonderful Christian suspense author, and I'm currently working my way through all of her writings.(Books 2-4 in the series are in the very tall stack of books by my bed) Sometimes the stories can be a bit formulaic, but her message of salvation makes her work rise above the rest.Morgan and Blair Owens are devastated by the brutal murders of their parents and determined to find the killer. When Morgan's husband, Jonathan, is arrested for the murders, the women have to overcome their differences and work together to save not only Jonathan, but the legacy their parents had created in the town.If you like Tami Hoag or Julie Garwood's contemporary thrillers, you'll definitely enjoy Terri Blackstock. My one complaint is Blair. For someone whose life is in danger, she certainly takes a lot of lonely walks.I was ready to shake her by the end of the book, and I hope that her character becomes more sympathetic in the second book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Another Winner
Terri Blackstock is a master at Christian suspence and RIVER'S EDGE (Third in the Cape Refuge series)is an outstanding masterpiece. Blackstock gives her readers a suspence filled narrative that will hold them captive from suspect to suspect through to the unexpected suprise ending. Blackstock has a knack at weaving GOD into her action-packed plots. She is a talented novelist and she deserves a permanent place on the best seller list.
5-0 out of 5 stars CAPE REFUGE SERIES
I read these back to back and they were all so hard to put down. You never know who the killer is until the very end, and when you find out you are totally suprised.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great work by Terri Blackstock
"River's Edge," the third entry in the four-volume "Cape Refuge" series by Terri Blackstock, is yet another example that this unique author somehow continues to improve with each book. This is especially impressive considering that all of Ms. Blackstock's novels are outstanding. Her superb writing style; her creative plots of mystery, and compelling insight into human relations; her ability to integrate, so skillfully, her strong convictions in the Christian faith... all of these attributes, and more, make her works special. Very special.--RON HOWE (a.k.a. Toby Martin II) ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing series by otherwise wonderful author
Warning: if you are a Blackstock fan, please don't blast me for this review; I am too! But this book made me so frustrated I had to force myself to finish it. Blair has not become any more likeable since the first book, and that's a problem considering she's the main character. Truth be told: there are no likeable characters in this book. This book seems to be so plot driven that the characters are forced to commit every action whether it seems in their nature or not. I don't understand why the Owen sisters even live in Cape Refuge, everyone in town is mean and stuck-up. Every cop or agent in the book is an imbecile. Morgan is so passive she spends most of her time either oblivious to what's going on around her or sobbing. Blair is so aggressive, she truly is a woman only God could love (hey, I have days like that too, but Blair seems to be stuck in a rut). She runs roughshod over everyone and they give in to her, even when it doesn't make sense. I love the idea of Hanover House and Cape Refuge, but I won't be finishing this series. I can't. Too many implausibilities and the power of the message of Jesus was lost. That said, I loved Newpointe 911, Sun Coast Chronicles, and many other books by Blackstock, but this series just isn't worth your time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Praise for book 2
I love books in series. Whenever I finish a book that I have enjoyed, I want more. I like the way that Blackstock introduces a few more characters in each book and gives you a chance to get to know them before the next book. Her characters are believable and I admire their "humanness" (if that's a word). She does a very good job of working the scripture theme into the books without jamming it down your throat. Her books give me a reason to pause and reflect. Good job, Terri! Book 2 is a hit with me.

4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Terri Blackstock Book!
I happened upon Terri Blackstock's books in the library one day, and was blown away by them. She combines skillful storytelling with faith-promoting stories that will leave you on the edge of your seat. You really get involved with the characters, and come away feeling as though you've spent time with new friends. Her drama situations are believeable and you'll be up all night reading. This book is my favorite by her -- you will not be disappointed.

Ms. Blackstock's works--her plots, woven with mystery and faith, her interesting characters, et al--are always first rate."Shadow of a Doubt," "Word of Honor," and "Trial by Fire" are no exceptions. These books, along with "Private Justice" and "Line of Duty," comprise her five-volume 'NEWPOINT 911' series... a series which will entertain and inspire readers.Highly recommended!--RON HOWE (a.k.a. 4-0 out of 5 stars A Good Follow-up
Well, Terri Blackstock has done it again. She definitely had alot to live up to due to her amazing series beginner. I was anxious to read this book because the first had the relationship between the two subcharacters, Jill and Dan. I had also seen anlot of Stan Shepard from the first. Ceila's character made me wonder some, but she won me over by her sweet compasion and her quirky aunt. This is definitley a good book and should be read by any suspense~romance avid readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Story
The story begins in Celia and Stan Shepherd's house on Mill Street in a small city named Newpointe. The day had gone along just as every other day except for the fact that during the night Stan had a horrible stomach ache and was terribly dizzy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Line of Duty seemed to be right off the pages of a current newspaper.I think it is the very best in the Newpointe 911 series. It was so good that after a few pages I emailed Terri Blackstock and asked for another book to this series that she thinks is finished.I hope it will continue.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I have read every book in the Newpointe 911 series, and I must say that Line of Duty is my favorite. I always loved Dan and Jill, and to see how they survive this tragedy. Once you pick up one of Terri Blackstock's books, it is hard to put it down. I have read all of the Newpointe series more than one time, but each time I read it, I get into it. Thanks for writing such a great book in a great series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great series!
This is a great series and the characters and definitely the type that you won't forget!

1-0 out of 5 stars A soap opera, not a mystery
Word of Honor was so poorly written that I found it hard to finish the book.Instead of telling the story through one character, the author jumped from one character to another not allowing the reader to identify with any of the characters.Reading Word of Honor was more like watching TV instead of reading a book. The conversations between the characters were corny.I felt like I was watching a poorly written TV soap opera. The Christian message was dominant and preachy instead of being informative. The Christian message seemed forced instead of a natural part of the story line.If I wanted a book that preaches along with a good story line, there are many good books out there that are much better written, ie the BIBLE!

5-0 out of 5 stars Proof that Terri Blackstock knows her stuff!
I would have to say that Terri Blackstock has shown her abilities as a writer once again in this book. She has demonstrated an absolutely excellent writing ability when it comes to this whole series!I greatly enjoyed "Word of Honor," and some of the themes of a covenant that were so prevalent in this book that I think are oftentimes overlooked so easily in our society.Mind you, I think there are a couple of points in which priorities lose their place in this book, but I also believe that they are restored before the end.I enjoy the murder mystery that is held in the story of one man's faithfulness to God, his family, and his friend.I also really enjoy the story behind Jill and Dan and all the struggles of their relationship while they're still so on and off. Most of all, I love the Christ-centered theme of all of Terri Blackstock's books. This is one sister in Christ who really knows how to write 'em! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not her best series
This series is too simplisitic and not as in depth as her other series. It is enjoyable to read once for a light afternoon break, but not worth a second read.

4-0 out of 5 stars When Dreams Cross
After the first book, Never Again Say Good-bye, this book followed Blackstocks style perfectly.I was more able to identify with these characters than the first books, so it drew me in a little more. This was another good one from Terri Blackstock.

5-0 out of 5 stars Timely
Terry Blackstock's "When Dreams Cross" is a well written story about the distructiveness and havoc that too much pride can have on a relationship. Without preaching, this talented author gives readers insight into the struggle we all face to let GOD be first in our lives and to learn to bend to his will. This is my first Blackstock book and I am now a fan with the intent to read more from this great author.Read more

I love Terri Blackstock's books.I find I can identify with her characters - I am always sad to finish a book. The best part is knowing that she writes her books in a series, so you can keep up with your favorite characters.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!
From one author to another I tip my hat to Terry Blackstock for this supurbly written ROMANCE. How refreshing to read about characters that could live next door instead of with 'the rich and famous.' "Broken Wings" rings with realism and the authentic action and dialogue will often reduce the reader to grab for the tissue box. Masterfully researched, this narrative and its study of fear and its effect on our lives will bring back similiar experiences for many of us. The author offers insight into recovery with out sounding preachy. Actually the best romance I have read in a long time. Plan to read more from the talented Terry Blackstock.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Blackstocks books rock!
She is one terrific author, she knows how to pace her stories, to keep you on the edge of your seat and to give you just enough of all the things we look for in books, interest, excitement, pause for thought, etc, and I highly recommend this one. Especially for those who enjoy Christian fiction, or even ifyou don't know about it, try this one to start...

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite
EVIDENCE of MERCY is Terri Blackstock's first book in her new "Sun Coast Chronicles. Once again Blackstock has penned a memorable narrative to introduce her new series. Lynda Barrett, busy attorney, has to sell her beloved airplane to cover the debt left by her father's death. Reluctantly she agrees to let Jake Stevens, shallow, handsome, carefree playboy and potential buyer, test flight her small Piper. While in the air they discover a mutual animosity that doesn't disappear when sabotage downs the plane. Jake wakes up in the hospital with a marred face, a missing eye and no feeling in his legs. Lynda soon realizes that someone wants her dead. The captivating narrative that follows as Lynda fights for an abused client, befriends a suicidal Jake and fights to stay alive will stay long term in your memory. If EVIDENCE of MERCY is any indication of the rest of the "Sun Coast Chronicles" series, it is sure to be Blackstock's best.4-0 out of 5 stars Life can change quickly
I enjoyed this book after picking it up on a recommendation. The story flows smoothly and, while often a bit cliche, keeps you interested throughout.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVED this book!
I am so excited to have found a new author to read.Terri Blackstock's book the Covenant Child had me from the first page.It is a book about love, death, money, greed, grace, faith, and trust.Amanda's character in the book reminded me of the Lord and the unconditional love He pours out on His children even when we want nothing to do with Him and the happiness we can find in life by studying His Word and following Him.I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a good read---just be prepared to have to read it straight through.

5-0 out of 5 stars WRITE A LITTLE FASTER TERRI
I read this book in a day. It was so good and touching. It makes you think about kids out there are treated like this everyday. I shed some tears it was so good. I've read alot of Blackstock and she gets better every time I read the next one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terri Blackstock's "Covenant Child"...A compelling saga with a great message.
Terri Blackstock's "Covenant Child" is a single story (not part of a series); but unlike her other novels, generally covering a period of weeks or months, this one--focusing on the lives of twin girls and their stepmother--spans a period of fifteen years. It is a compelling saga with a great message...not unlike that of the Biblical account of the prodigal son, which obviously inspired this story of two young women who chose different life paths as they moved through their difficult childhood years to the challenging brink of adulthood. --Ron Howe / Erskine, MN ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Seasons Seriesby Beverly LaHaye
These books are so well written and you cannot put them down once you start. It also challenged me to really think about how I felt about the moral issues that were uncovered in each of these books even though I thought I already had a opinion.
5-0 out of 5 stars Soul-Wrenching
This book is so wonderful, but warning - you will bawl through many parts of it.Its a book that really stops and makes you look at your own life and soul and wonder if you could deal with what the Dodds do.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!
I absolutely loved this book. I was able to relate to each of the 4 main characters, and found it refreshing that they were all Christian women! Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Move over Mary Higgins Clark!
A Christian version of suspense queen Mary Higgins Clark?Terri Blackstock's skill at writing suspense fiction reminded me much of the mystery queen."Evidence of Mercy" (available as a separate novel, or as one of four best-selling Blackstock novels in the "Suncoast Chronicles" anthology) is a humdinger of a suspense story, revolving around the lives of three main characters. The main protagonist, Lynda, is a Christian lawyer whose life is threatened by an unknown killer. The second central character is the atheist Jake, who becomes a paraplegic after crashing on Lynda's sabotaged plane while test-flying it as a prospective buyer. The third main character is one of Lynda's clients, Paige, a single parent trying to avoid her abusive ex-husband.Suspense mounts as the mystery killer and his motive remain unidentified in the first half of the story. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic series at a fantastic price!
I read the Sun Coast Chronicles series almost a year ago and can't say enough about Terri Blackstock's ability to weave suspense, mystery, romance and inspiration in such an entertaining package.5-0 out of 5 stars Great Mystery and Suspense
I finished this book in two days, I was so caught up in it.It is much better than the Newpointe 911 I started with.I would encourage anyone who likes suspense and mystery to read it.Although I have figured out the killer rather quickly it still kept my interest. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Too depressing of a series!
I don't mind crying at a series - in fact most of the time that means I'm really enjoying it, but oh, my goodness...will the depression never end! This entire series is so depressing...it just kept getting more depressing!Don't read this without a "happy" book to make you feel better afterwards.Defintely not her best series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect ending to the series!
Presumption of Guilt was a perfect ending to this series by Terri Blackstock. It really showed the damage we humans do to each other and also the redeeming power of God's love.I couldn't put it down! You will love this book as I'm sure you loved the ones before it.It neatly ties all the story lines together and gives you and ending worth waiting for.Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you haven't read a Terri Blackstock novel...
If you haven't yet read any of the consistently-superb novels by Terri Blackstock... try this one or any other of her books, and you'll likely want to read them all!Her suspenseful plots aren't surpassed by anyone I'm familiar with...not even Mary Higgins Clark, great as she is!
