the standard critical text of the Hebrew Bible
In the field of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament studies, 'BHS' carries a well-deserved resonance, much like 'Mercedes' or 'Beamer' does among enthusiasts of quality cars that are within the mainstream.
Large Font?
This book claims to be written in a large font, however the font is barely larger than the paperback edition.The large print edition is at most 2 points larger than the paperback, maybe a 12 or 13 point font.What makes this book bigger is the extra space at the bottom of the page which is not all that usefull for making notes.This edition is poorly laid out for enjoyable reading and useful notation.Don't waste you money to get this so called "large print" edition, you should probably just buy the regular sized one.

The Academic & Translational Standard
The importance of BHS is not necessarily its version of the Masora (edited by Gerard Weil) or textual notes (the part that varies from edition to edition), but that its text is the basis for the last generation (thirty years) of commentaries, translations, articles, monographs, &c., so that anyone who wants to use these tools knowledgeably needs to refer to the text of BHS in their own study, just as those who want to compare their favourite translation to the Hebrew or Aramaic text--a common motivation for students of Biblical Hebrew--needs to look at BHS.Read more

King James Big print Bible
Bible is great just a light blue cover no problem,enjoy reading with good size letters

The Baroque Bible in a solemnly grand paperback
For Gibbon-thumping Milton fans like myself, it's troubling to have to experience the poetic majesty of the King James Bible through some sorrily-printed Zondorvan or Nelson edition, especially as it is likely to be larded with commentary of the most dubious (considered archaeologically or theologically) nature. There's always "The Bible Designed to Be Read as Living Literature," but who wants to be cheated by abridgment (to say nothing of RSV substitutions)? This lovely Ivy Books paperback is the perfect answer to this dilemma. Its virtue is to present the KJV in areadable format, sans additions of any kind, with a majestic veined-granite cover. It places the Bible as a book among other books, without making it humble. A comfort in the hands and easy on the eyes, this edition allows the majesty of this Renaissance cathedral of Words to speak to the reader with all the billowing grandeur of its majestic style and substance. Nor would it seem cheaply out of place in a place of worship. Whether one seeks literary or divine intoxication, this edition is worthy of one's affection.

yeah it is true
Yeah I agree with that pastor below. I was very disapointed in the new Thompson I got. No were near the quality that they used to make. Looks like it will not last half as long as my old one. Its a shame too. I remember my daddy had his for 40 plus years. I guess nothing is made with pride anymore.
It helps me with what I am thinking about.
This Thompson Chain Bible is important to me. It helps me deal with my problems, worries, concerns and the rest more than any other Bible I know.
Please be warned
I think I should warn you all in fairness about this issue over the current quality of Thompson bibles. I used to be very pleased with the quality of Thompson Bibles. I bought several for my church people. Now however, they are making them so cheap that they are NOT WORTH the amount of money they are asking. I agree with the reviewer that revealed how shoddy the Thompson Bible is now being made. The paper is so thin and cheap that the words on the other pages show through. I can't stand that in a Bible.

Flimsy cover - not real leather
The cover is "leatherette" or some such product.Definitely NOT what I envision by the words "Leather Bound."Very flimsy.A good hard bound copy would fare better.The edges were a bit cracked on arrival.The price is good.You get what you pay for.This is a good Bible to just have around the house for reading & reference, not a take to church every week kind of Bible.

King James version Holy Bible
This is the text I love the best and it is easy to read and with the words of Jesus in red.My only criticism in that the corners of the cover tend to bend - they are made of cardboard which is not as durable as leather, for which I would have paid more.However, it is very good value, and the delivery was as swift as ever.

Of all my Bibles, this is my personal favorite
I own multiple translations and editions of the Bible, but this Cambridge Large-Print KJV is my favorite.I'm not sure what the book photo on the Amazon page is supposed to represent.A version of the box it comes in?The box mine came in is a solid gold box with red and black print.The Bible itself is lovely red Moroccan leather with "Holy Bible" stenciled simply on the front and spine.This and THE NEW OXFORD ANNOTATED BIBLE edition of the New Revised Standard Version are the two translations I use by far the most.In studying the Gospels I frequently consult THE SYNOPSIS OF THE FOUR GOSPELS in the RSV version as edited by Kurt Aland, which arranges the four gospels in parallel and which I consider an essential study tool.But for sheer joy of reading the Bible I prefer this KJV over all other versions.
Premier Personal Reading KJV Bible
With the plethora of study material now available to any student of any level of learning, a "study" Bible is a little obsolete.Space constraints in study Bibles require limited notes on even very important subjects and no notes at all on many others.It is also virtually impossible for the compiler of the study Bible to avoid personal slants and interpretations in his or her notes.

EXCELLENT
What a WELL MADE bible!!I had been looking for something like this in my local Christian literature store. NOTHING!I had read all the technical information on this translation in the hard bound volume reviews. I also did a search online about this version. I have read nothing but good about it. A pastor suggested this version for me since I did not like the newer renditions particularly because they had removed God's name from them.What an excellent buy!! I could not believe the quality for the price. It came very well packaged. Thank you Amazon for such an excellent product and for ending my quest for a good pocket version of the bible!

Product name is oxymoron, but don't hold that against it.
Before purchasing this bible, which is also available without a snap flap, I looked over at least a dozen different alternatives, in many different translations.

Poor Binding
This is a pretty good Bible--I mean the format and size are very nice to have. It's a great "preaching" Bible... but there are a couple problems. The first BIG problem is the binding. Even if you buy the leather version you will have problems with the binding in the same places every time (I've bought 3 of these on different occasions and have experienced the same problems with every one). The second problem is the lack of space for writers like myself--this I consider a smaller problem since it's designed that way. However, I do not think the design of the binding meant for it to be so fragile.

Best NKJV Print on Genuine Leather
I have found that this is the best NKJV print on genuine leather that I have found.The following are the reasons:
