Buy a book on probability instead
This book is mostly built around the idea "I wish it were true = it *is* true".While this book has innate appeal to those looking for meaning in their lives, if you're looking for a firm foundation for understanding coincidences in your life (i.e. intellectual integrity), you'd be better off buying an introduction to probability.

Everything Happens For A Reason
I enjoyed this quick read.I did skip over a few chapters that I didn't feel were pertinent to me, but still really enjoyed this book.If you are looking to see if you are on the right path in life, read God Winks.And then, start paying attention, you'll be surprised at what comes to mind!

Thoroughly enjoyable
This was an enjoyable book from the first page to the last.We all have moments of coincidence and this book puts into perspective that these moments do not "just happen"...putting the focus on God. I love the imagery of God "winking" at such a moment as if to say, "Hey there kid, I'm thinking about you right now."Now whenever a coincidence happens in my life, I find myself winking back to say, "Thank You, God...I'm thinking about You right now, too!"Very well written.Hats off to SQuire Rushnell for an exceptionally good book! ... WOW! BILL HAS THE REVELATION!
When I ordered this book I was interested in more of God and thought the title catchy. WOW!!!!I got so much more than I bargained for. I found a book that should be cannonized as scripture! Great 'how to' book
A good summary of many of the self-improvement books I have read over the past few years. The Power of Focus is more like a workbook with exercises at the end of each chapter.

HELPFUL ADVICE FOR FINDING YOUR SWEET SPOT
In this book, Lucado shares the statistic that 87 percent of workers are slaving outside of their sweet spots, that place where passions and talents intersect. His book is filled with inspirational insight as well as practical tools for finding the cure.
Not too many christian authors can be revered by Dr. Phil, Alan Colmes, and Lee Strobel at the same time
I agree with other five star reviewers when I say MAX HAS DONE IT AGAIN.Ever since the first Lucado book I read (When God whispers your name) I have been a huge fan.I consider myself a discerner, and its great to relax my pride a bit and savor the books of Max Lucado.
Great perspective even if you are on the mommy track!
As a former leadership development trainer, I LOVED this book. I am now a stay at home Mom and this book spoke volumes to me, even in my situation (outside the workforce) about finding a ministry niche in addition to my new vocation as Mom.

Bilingual BIBLE -- Englsih--Spanish
I am very plesed with this bible. I use it for the purpose of studying Spanish. I find this an excellent way to master new vocabulary and for gaining an understanding of idiomatic phrases. In the past I used separate Bibles and this was very time consuming. I can now read a chapter a day and study the new phrases without having recourse to a dictionary.
Spanish/English Bible
This Bible has a nice leather cover, readable type size and font, and is set up well on the page for someone who is aspiring to be bilingual.Verses are across from each other in two columns on each page, so going back and forth between languages is easy.An excellent Bible, excellent value and we received it in 2 days.

Readable Willard
Frankly I like Dallas Willard's stuff but sometimes he is tough sledding.I've taken several runs at "The Divine Conspiracy" based on countless rave reviews but inevitably I give up.So "The Great Omission" may not be all fresh and profound like some would like, but it has one pretty good thing going for it -- it is readable.
Part Two
Great follow up to Divine Conspiracy... a reminder to keep moving toward Jesus in the process of transformation and Kingdom living.

Introduction to the disciplines - nothing new here
Dallas Willard is a joy to be able to bump brains with in book format.No other book has had the effect on me that Divine Conspiracy did, and still does.However, if you have read Willard's other works, you will find little new here.The Great Omission is a collection of essays, which overlap each other quite often, and can get very repetitive.This one is for completists only.Good for maybe picking up and reading a different essay every so often, but reading from front to back can get exhausting.Still, it's Willard, so it gets 4 stars.If you've never read any Willard, this is not a bad place to start.Maybe his most accessable work to date. ... Awesome Revelation!!!

Ties it all together very nicely
I read Home with God without the benefit of having read Mr. Walsch's previous works and I must say that I recommend it without question.Since I read Home with God I have purchased ALL of Mr. Walsch's previous work and I have enjoyed them all tremendously.Home with God is so special because we all want to know what is beyond our current knowing.I have always felt that my idea of what God would do and be was quite different from what mainstream religions preach.I never could understand how God could hate anything he/she created. Mr. Walsch's God is the God I have always believed in and had faith in and experience daily in my conversations with God.I recommend you take the book slowly and allow it to become a part of you.We are all one people (children of God) and what hurts one of us hurts us all.Reminds me of the phrase "United we stand, divided we fall."Read this book with an open heart and allow yourself to be healed and comforted and reconnected to God like never before.It will positively change your life.
Conversations with God?
Neale Walsh has written several New Age style books on his conversations with God, all of them bestsellers and great in popularity.However, I always get the feeling on reading his works his God is a very wishy-washy one.
Perfect...for those with an open mind.
I loved this book as much as I did all the others in the "Conversations with God" series. Although it can be read and understood on its own, its better to read all the others first.

Good example of selfishness
It is apparent that the first premise in Peck's book is that in order for humans to be a whole being, one must grow through spirituality (or enlightenment) attained through "grace" with the main purposes of gaining "capacity and understanding of serendipity" (309) and through "spiritual evolution, whereby people grow towards godhood" (270) and "become God" (283).
Life Changing
Peck's definition of love is unparalleled in any of the literature I have read concerning the matter. I have always been particularly fond of Kahlil Gibran's depiction of marriage and love. However, I feel that Peck redefines it in modern English and provides a contrast to the "mainstream" view of love and "falling in love."
Life is difficult...
I read this book and the sequel, People of the Lie around the time that they came out.I was stunned by Peck's honesty. The stories of how he and his patients struggle with the problems and obstacles that confront them are amazing.

Not nonpartisan
Wallis pitches his book as an attempt to show that Christians can be Democrats or Republicans, or whatever presumably.Here, he is correct.He also pitches his argument as being nonpartisan. Here, he is mistaken; it doesn't take too long to figure out his idea of nonpartisan is liberal Democrat.

WELL WRITTEN BLATHER
Although well written, this book is just left wing socialist blather. Most egregiously in error is the author's characterization of Catholic social teaching. He wuld have us believe that the Catholic Church is all behind the US social welfare system. Just one quote summarizes where the Catholic Church really is on this issue:

jim wallis' book "God's politics: why the right gets it wrong and the left doesn't get it" offers a great response to many major issues that our country is grappling with these days. wallis convicts both republicans and democrats and speaks with a surprising level of urgency and candor. he reminds the reader that God is neither a republican or a democrat, that He doesn't want you to vote partisan but according to your highest ideals, and that yes, He definitely HATES war, torture, and injustice. some conservative critics complain that he wants to make all Christians into democrats and start a socialist movement, but it's actually very clear from reading the first few pages that this isn't true. no matter how you vote and no matter what your faith, it's an insightful read that bucks all the party lines and encourages those who want to vote from the heart. ... Wide-Eyed Wonder
This book somewhat builds on the anthropic principle, the idea that our planet is finely tuned for life. It follows the long-out of print and highly readable contribution by Augros and Stanciu, The New Story of Science. The authors search the world for evidences of not simply design, but genius, and examine human genius to see what it might look like. Using Parker Palmer's The Courage to Teach
I was introduced to Palmer's book by a participant in a series of workshps I give on Teaching, Learning, and Technology. This participant said that my coverage of pedagogic and technologic issues would be augmented by dealing with the personal factors a teacher brings to a course. Having read Palmer sveral times as I offer these workshops, I can say that it is probably the single most important text I have found in my extensive review of literature on teaching and learning. This opinion is supported by the comments of people in my workshops, who universally agree that reading it has changed their approach to teaching in a positive way. I cannot recomment it more highly.

Gets better as it goes....?
I'll preface this by saying that I'm a university teacher who cares deeply about teaching, which I guess must be why this book was recommended to me in the first place. The early chapters I found simply intolerable, heavily reliant on unexamined truistic claptrap about self-knowledge, the soul, etc, etc. The whole book is overwritten and florid, like the inside of a greetings card. It is hard to be genuinely profound in that sort of prose, and I wished that Parker, who is clearly a wonderful and thoughtful teacher, had had the courage to write in something approximating the language of normal speech.
Takes Courage to Read It!
A moving, poetic, and inspiring work on the art, profession, and calling of teaching. "I am a teacher at heart, and there are moments in the classroom when I can hardly hold the joy" (p. 1). Palmer builds a theoretical framework of teaching based on integrity, authenticity, humility, community, hope, and love. Offers great hope to those temporarily mired in the minutia of teaching, as well as a frighteningly stark contrast for those not truly called to teach. Excellent
Love and Respect is a wonderful book! It really helped me understand many things. It deals with situations in which a man or woman is responsible for discord in the relationship. This is one topic I have learned about in the past, and thought I had really implemented in my life, but I was amazed at how much I still did not understand about the way men think and respond. Read this book even if you're not having marital problems.

Christ loved the church first
If the church is our example of marriage Christ LOVED us first. He did not need to be respected first. I agree with the main idea of the book, however the author puts more pressure on women than on men. Men, lead the way in love as Christ did, even when he received no respect but crucifixion.

Living Your Strengths: Discover Your God-Given Talents and Inspire Your Community
The transaction went perfectly smooth!

Five Stars for Potential
We have just begun to use this text and accompanying workbook and video at our church for a seven-week study to determine our God given talents and calling. Apparently this material is also used in business for the same purpose. The initial process is to go online and take a strength finder assessment (approx. 30-40) minutes. This assessment then provides the user with a ranking of their top five strengths. Note: Each book has a unique code that can be used only once to take the assessment. The results from that assessment is then the basis for the remainder of the study, e.g., six weeks in the workbook. I have not read through the entire book. Most of the content is concerned with describing the thirty-four "themes" (e.g., strenghts). I would not recommend purchasing the book without the accompanying "Journey" workbook - and I would think that doing this on your own (with the book and workbook) would be valuable but not as vaulable as doing it in a small group.

I appreciated the way this book helps staff find the focus of their strengths. It's a great way to help people know what others already know about them. I highly recommend this for a staff retreat.

From the Same Minds That Brought You Joel Osteen
I purchased Eldredge's "Wild at Heart", and I didn't think it was scripturally sound. I was given "Waking the Dead" as a present, so I tried to read it as well. I finally gave it up.
Great!
This book by John Eldredge is wonderful. It was recommended to me and now I'm recommending it to others. The four streams he touches on one doesn't often come across, and the examples he gives one can relate to.

Waking the Dead that are Wild at Heart
I like this book much better than Wild at Heart, though I tought students from it for about half a year. The basic thing I've taken away from the books is that it teaches us to be open about our futures and grab some nostalga along the way. Waking the Dead like Wild at Heart focus on what most conservatives will call OPEN THEOLOGY. This approach to God creates a sort of open question as to the future and whether we have a hand in it. John frequently sets up statements that lead conservatives to view them as redefining God, His intentions and what scripture says.

The basic smart course in sales techniques
Seldom is a book as aptly named as Selling 101. This is a true primer on the ABC's of selling. Author and sales expert Zig Ziglar walks you through the sales process, teaching you how to find prospects, overcome "call reluctance," pose the right questions and ask for the order. He touches on all of the fundamentals, using examples from his experiences to illustrate his main points. His brief, concise prose is easy to understand and even easier to incorporate into your sales practices. The seasoned sales professional will not find anything new in this basic textbook, but we recommend it to anyone who is new to selling, particularly if you lack a mentor to give you this kind of guidance. This handy manual will provide know-how that is usually gained only by experience in the field.

Good short book if you are looking for something basic.There is certainly nothing dynamic, but Ziglar hits several points right on and gives a nice overview.

New Interpreter's Study Bible w/Apocrypha
NISB is an excellent resource for clergy, students, congregations and public libraries as well as general public. Well laid out with maps, charts, introductry materials. I think it is better than the 12 volume NIB commentary. It brings together materials that the Oxford Annotated Study and HarperCollins Study Bibles have separately. Scholarly comments walk careful line between "conservative" and "liberal" Could have been clearer about some points (e.g. composition of Corinthian correspondence). Recommend highly. Also available on CD separately. Worth the money!
Good content but needs CD to run program
The content is great but the cd has to be in the computer in order to run the program. This means that the cd drive is constantly running to find information. It makes the experience noisy and frustrating. Content is a 10 and software ease of use is a 2. The Oxford software is much easier to use. (Logos Based) I am not sure if I would buy it again or simply buy the book. The included dictionary is a plus though.

Excellent Historic Notes; Language Notes
So far I have just read Mark and Genesis;Never read the Bible before. What got me started was Bruce Feiler's "Walking the Bible" which I also recommend.The historic and language notes are excellent and add a lot of food for thought to the textual reading. While reading Feiler's book I checked out the Bible verse references. This added a lot of fun to the process of reading "Walking the Bible." There is a tendency in the footnotes to the new Interpreters' Bible to try to excuse the male-oriented facts of the Bible, what I take to be a "liberal" apology to the reader, but who cares?the Bible is the Bible.I recommend this Bible to anyone interested in a serious study of the Bible both as a literary and study work. I rate it tops. Amazon had the lowest price, and a lot of local Bookstores including "Christian" Book stores did not stock it. ... Read more

Profoundly thought provoking
Let me start off by saying that I don't know how anything I say could do justice to what this book has done for me.
Excellent book for adult Sunday school classes
Our Sunday School class is finishing The Life You've Always Wanted by John Ortberg. It has been a big hit.(We also studied his book If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat a couple years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. People still refer to its themes.)
