4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
Though the book is designed as a daily meditational, I read through the Red Road Ethics beginning to end. Full of wisdom, but I felt a couple of the quotes were inacurate (paraphrased).

5-0 out of 5 stars Native American treasure
When I bought this book I was waiting something difficult to read for but I was so surprised how wonderful and easy this book is! It gives me lots of hope and joy every morning when I read each day's part! IF you value these Native people's thoughts - this book is MUST to own!

5-0 out of 5 stars NDN's love this book
Pay no attention to the reviewer who said this book is frowned upon by Native people. I sell it at pow wow's, shows and give it as gifts to my indigenous and non indigenous friends and family. We LOVE it. My father said that it reminds him of the teachings of his father, and his father's father. A lot of information is packed into this tiny book and I highly recommend it as an introduction into my culture. There's history and facts and how to's and explanations. Yes, spirituality can be oversimplified in many books, but this one is a better one of all those who do that. This book at least explains things. I went to Terri Jean's website and read her Native Truth columns and she is someone who goes to great lengths to make sure her work is accurate and authentic. I think she did a great job here. You need to read her columns and see what she is writing about. This is not her real work. This is a small piece of it. Most of her articles are about topics that all people should know about and things whites need to understand about us. So read this book to get an understanding as to who we are, and then read her column to see why we're here. And do not pay attention to the man who wrote the negative review. Look at all the others! They are positive and love this 365 book. One people who speaks for all of us is not right. Many many people love 365 days and I give it as gifts. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It is the question whose answer is 42!Now in paperback!
Oh, the two-line naysayers.Sounds like they didn't even open the book, let alone slog all the way through to page 673.Anyone who gets to the part about the "gigantic sexual molecule with a female center" and still gives the book a bad review has no soul.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sexual Personae
This book is not worth the paper it was written on, nor the ink it was typed with, unless one is an extremely narrow-minded misogynist.

1-0 out of 5 stars Men like porn
and of course they would LOVE a woman who said porn was OK.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
This book has it all. It is a must have for any wizard. With the other 3 books you will have thousands of spells that are easy to find and understand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful but unbalanced
The breakdown of the spells into various groups helps players check spells fast.4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool
A good compilation of spells. I like the tables in the front of this (the first) book. I understand this is not meant to be a rule book, but some help on where to find rules on chronomancers would be nice, since there are a fair number of spells for them in here. Recommend getting 1st and 4thbooks before obtaining rest so that you get the tables and index. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a book that helps you look within!
I like how the author of "Avalon Within" makes a connection with women cycles, earth cycles, nature cylces, etc. The other thing I like is how she presents each aspect of her tradition with not only legend and myth background, but also substance and historical facts, so that it is up to the reader to see for themselves what to believe in. She also references other books on certain topics for further reading. After reading "Avalon Within," I learned that in the Celtic Welsh tradition, they believed in 5 goddesses and that one could apply the goddesses to yourself, by having each one represent a certain aspect of the "whole" you. This is MY interpretation of the goddesses. Because of these analogies and interesting points of view, I was attracted to the book and Avalon tradition. It's just another way of helping women improve themselves, feel more confident about themselves, and become a better all-round person. The book takes you on a journey to look "within" and see what aspects of yourself you would like to change for the better: Do you want to be a better - healer, lover, mother, nurturer, etc. and what do you need to do to become this person? I enjoyed this book :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Avalon Within--Mysteries resolved!
Ms. Telyndru has written a wonderful book that guides the reader through personal transformation! The energies, the guiding, the teaching within are all written with wisdom and love.I know this is a book I will refer to again and again.I am getting ready to do the first meditative journey this weekend, although I have read far beyond that point in the book.I know this is a book that any seeker will treasure as I do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fact Follows Path
Jhenah Telynoru captures fact as she teaches the pathwalking of the Avalonian Tradition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nicely Done
Definatley is a book for... more experienced Witches. Done for beginners, but unless being guided by another might lead down wrong paths. Overall this book is wonderfully done, and gives a in depth experience from the authors own life.

5-0 out of 5 stars New perspective onAncient wisdom!
I picked up this book and thought "not another book on how to practice Wicca". For the most part, it isnt. Wicca is the basic primer that lets one become a Witch. Beginners all must study Wicca. Case closed. How adept you become makes you a Witch. This may involve a few months of study or many years of careful practice. This book tells you how to speed up the process. As for those critics who say "witchcraft cannot come from a book", then where does it come from?
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book; different view.
Of all the books I've read on Witchcraft/Wicca (we're entering the 20's here) I have to say this one was near the top of the list. Yasmine Galenorn writes with a friendly, informative edge and covers many different topics in this book. She also includes some personal experiences which enhance the material she writes about. A witty, fun read that is sure to go by fast and make you thirst for more. Galenorn will easily become one of your favorite authors! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Even better than the last
It is about time that someone writes a book that doesn't have us buying this and that.I have never practiced the Craft that way, (I have been for 12 years now) but many people write what sells.Thank you Christopher for writing a book to show how "easy" magick can be.You have done a wonderful job and hope that you will keep writing. We are taught in any religon the intent and what is in the heart is most important and this book definitely shows that. Why do we need this and that to make what a spell? If we truly believe in the spell, then it should work without all the chachkies, right?Thank you again for writing this book and I would recommend it to anyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
Are you tired of magick books that require you to buy out an entire store to cast a few dozen spells? This book is all you need to create instant magick. No candles, no incense, no stones or fancy altar statues. You have everything you need right in your own mind.
5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!A must for those who wish to actualize their practices.
Yet another amazing work by Christopher Penczak.Unlike traditional spellbooks, Instant Magick stresses that practitioners can actualize their magick by using it outside of ritual circumstances. In all actuality, we are CONSTANTLY weaving magick and creating our reality. Penczak understands this well. This book is concerned with focusing thoughts and using Willed-intention to bring forth manifestation; to truly utilize our ability inside ritual and out. This book fills a much-needed gap, and I recommend this directly alongside "The Circle Within" by Dianne Sylvan. The two are very important works focused on taking ritualized magick to the next, and most necessary, step: letting be a living part of our everday existence. This book is a key, and I'm so happy to own it and pass it onto my own students:)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Path Impossible to Follow with Magical Passes
Very simple. The path of the warrior-seer is impossible to follow without Magical Passes. Now, must these passes come from this book? Not necessarily. Those called to the path, there to acquiesce to the spirit, are often given passes in dreams. However, this book details the basic passes; and once they are begun in a routine of practice, very often more dreams follow detailing extra moves and even new passes not mentioned in the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Practical Wisdom of the Shamans of Ancient Mexico

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for the information alone, moves added bonus
I am a tai-chi expert and have also mastered more than 60 passes in Tensegrity and the Magical Passes. This book is not Tai-chi while it may resemble like tai-chi moves to some.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book for Pagan Personal Communion through Druidry .
This book is very good concerning the Druid outlook, and the personal keltic relationship one has with Earth-Worship.I would use it in addition to your Druid knowledge already. It's an interesting look into one man's Keltic journey and his own credo concerning Druidry. It's not the weightiest book on the solitudinarian Druid topic, yet it's a good companion book. This druid high-priest has not handed-down a "venire facias" ,allowing an ADF clerical review of this unique work.Yet,I think such a study, by the druid sacerdotalists, would approve of its publication 100% .Good book!

3-0 out of 5 stars Some good information, but not extremely organized. . .
I did enjoy this books section on the Druid holidays and ritual. Although the ritual format is a tad dry, it gives many solitary practitioner's a starting point, which I'm sure was the author's intention. The reason I give it only three stars is because the rest of the book was laid out and organized kind of poorly, and I didn't walk away from this book with a huge amount of new information. It also covers only the ADF perspective, which is one of many. I would recommend reading it though, if you are interested in ADF style Druidry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Valentine's Day gift for the Charmed fan
Since the very first season, my girlfriends and I have made it our little ritual to get together every Sunday (now, Thursday in the past) and watch our three favorite supernatural sisters. I purchased this mini-book for all my friends this Valentine's Day and gave it to them before the show started. They loved them. The spells are fun and there are other sections on demons and quotes from the show. I do wish the book had some of the drawings from the original book of shadows, but I can't complain since the graphics are decent. I am always surprised at the graphics and photos on the other Charmed merchandise; the Season One DVD for example, has a real second rate look to it. It seems like the producers would have some really cool graphics at their disposal - but I digress. The mini book is great. I really recommend this little book as a must have for any Charmed fan.

3-0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUT SMALL
I LOVED the book. Only problem is that it's so small, it made it hard to really read. But if you like all thing's 'Charmed', and want some of the spell's they cast on the show, among other thing's, then you should get this book. Just be warned about it's size. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The next step up.....
This teaches you more techniques to use in candle magick. You get to use stones now!!! Again... very informative.... but not enough useful spells/rituals. Get practical candleburning rituals with this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars More Complicated
I of course tried Buckland's Practical Candle Magick with success and was curious I got this but advanced does mean advanced. I agree with one other review- dress the candles? Where I live in the Twin Ports area who can get stuff like candles and incense and also pentagram amulets, etc at local stores even something like Wal Mart had roly poly votive holders the same ones as seen on online occult shops. I haven't tried any of these yet. A lot of where the advanced part comes in a lot of this stuff is hard to get and pricey- like a crystal ball those are usually at least 50 bucks. Not as well suited for younger audiences who rely mostly on money from parents plus whatever they get these odd jobs here and there like mowing lawns or babysitting but still barely anything like 20 bucks. Overall, I would still say this is worth getting but a little on the tacky side with some unintentional humor with the drawings. I want to try the puberty spell- I want to grow a habdlebar mustache.

5-0 out of 5 stars He really means it- Advanced!!!
I love this book. I bought the two- his first candle ritual book and tried the spells with success ofcoarse. This book is advaced and offers more rituals like contacting the deceased of a loved one. Im right now gathering the required elements to contact my grandma and confers with her. Anyone who cares wish me luck and blessings.- Anthony G. Oh and buy this book! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars More bull from the Absolute Master of BS!
Aleister Crowley and company, including his favourite pupil, Frater Achad (Charles Stansfield Jones) were nothing more than mere charlatans who made a name for themselves in occult circles. This is just another in their endless array of manipulative books that were meant to attract and control the gullible--preferably the rich gullible--who had nothing else to do with their lives but to seek someone to have power over them. Conversely, Crowley and Achad had nothing to do with 'their' lives but to seek to have power over others: a perfect fit!

5-0 out of 5 stars is a truth
This book is over your head. Read it. It changed the world. It has the secret of the OTO 9th Degree in it. It has a most powerful banishing ritual. It has a lot to ponder. At some point your soul will find it usefull. It may become your guide.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Killing Joke
Possibly not fully recognised for his sense of humour in his day, this book is one of The Great Beast's best. It contains the beautifully constructed "ONION-PEELINGS", which I can honestly say makes me cry with laughter every time I read it, and even thinking about it causes me to guffaw uncontrollably. If you're a tight-wad and don't want to buy the book just yet, just do a google search on "Onion Peelings" to see what I mean - oh how we laughed outwardly, yet cried inwardly...

Editorial Review

This is a book that was recommended to me, and I have to admit that it is one of the best scholarly texts on the history of European Pagan religions. Jones and Pennick trace the evolution of Pagan religions in Greece and Rome, the religions of the Celts, Paganism in Germany and the Balkans, and the current Pagan revival. Filled with concise information and illustrations which add to the content rather than distracting from it, I'm sure I'll be referring to this book again in the future. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great place to start
I have read many books on paganism, and unfortunately, a high percentage of those offer up history that is not at all well researched or accurate. This book is a good introduction and while no book is perfect, has some well researched information to get a person started. Get this book if you are not sure what pre-christian culture you would like to study and what to get a taste of many different groups - if something catches your eye, there is a bibliography to find out more.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Illuminating Book
Jones & Pennick (J&P) present a well-documented text that provides substantial history for pagan culture, society, and religion.Their work does not challenge or argue with faith traditions.Their task is simply to offer available information about Europe's original socio-religious culture.(J&P speak only briefly to Asian and Middle Eastern influences.)Their point is to inform, not convert.
5-0 out of 5 stars awesome overview
This ADF approved text proved to be very enjoyable. Not only was it more educational than it's slim 220 pages would lead you to believe, it was also well written and not at all dry. This book is perfect for anyone wanting a broad spectrum treatment of pagan europe as well as having descriptive chapters on the Greeks, Romans, Celts, Germanic, Baltic, Russian and Baltic.

For those who want to learn more about bringing the gifts of dreaming into waking life, this book is indispensible. It is full of inspiring stories of everyday dreaming magic, and provides excellent tools for working with your dreams. You are your own expert about the meaning of your dreams and with this book, you will see new ways to open up to them.It is one of the very best books about dreaming on the market, if not the best.Robert Moss's other books on dreaming are also absolutely valuable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best informational book of all time
If I were a richer woman, I would be buying up copies of this by the boatloads and distributing them as party favors and gifts. Not only has it been a pleasure to read, but by surrounding myself in a focused "study" of Moss's dream theory/reality, I've immersed my subconscious in the task at hand - to dream Big dreams and to get much more out of my sleeping states beyond pleasant fancies.
5-0 out of 5 stars Shamanic Dreamwork at its best!
I loved this book, and found it to be a very "shamanic" dreamwork manual. It has wonderful exercises for both the beginning and more advanceddreamworker and includes everything you could imagine, from dream incubation, dream reentry and working with nightmares to shape-shifting, meeting deceased loved ones, angels and psychic self defense.

3-0 out of 5 stars a helpful guide
this was my first book, mainly because i didn't know what i was looking for and it had "the craft" written on the cover! i'm still a beginner, but having seen some other books on the subject, i realise this book is really just a guide line on how to cast circle and what the celebrations are and when. i did find the chapter on tools interesting, but there is nothing really on spells or much history, and i ended up with more questions than answers. i think it's good as a companion guide and is quite easy to read, but if you're looking for something more indepth, look elsewhere.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fluff Wicca
This book is mostly for those who fall into the "fluff-bunny" sweetness and light camp of Wicca. It is very well written, and also good introduction if that is how you think. But if you want something more balanced, then look eleswhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you want to learn the Craft,This is the teacher to guide you through simplified!
Dorothy Morrison truly is concise and precise with her teachings of the craft!A book for all..from Novices to the more learned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get Magickal Quick
I Love Christopher Penczak! He's a great author.I am an eclectic, solitary witch and he translates magick so easily. It's as though I'm in my own private class with him.I know he comes from Goodness, Love & Light because while I'm reading his books there's a magickal energy that permeates my entire surrounding with the deepest Love for all beings and all of life.I have a vast background with Zen masters, Doreen Virture, and many other psychic, mediums and mystical teachers.
4-0 out of 5 stars Really diverse
This book is very imformative and also the author gives his opinion on some of the subjects mentioned in the book. This book covers a wide array of areas, great book for people wanting to know the truth about witchcraft. I really liked his point of view on things.

4-0 out of 5 stars The perfect beginners book
I have been a student of the Craft for about 17 years now and always looks for new books for students, and this book caught my eye. It and the subsequent books in the series really do brings the methods and techniques to the reader. He really knows how to explain the ways of the Witches ... Read more

Editorial Review

The popularity of the Celtic revival is evident by the number of books on the subject, yet anassessment of women's spirituality within this cultural tradition has remained elusive. Edain McCoyaddresses this very topic and thus opens new doors for women, allowing them access to a tradition that canbe easily blended into most current beliefs, including Christianity and paganism. McCoy skillfullyexamines the history of women in ancient Celtic society and reveals its significance to the women of today.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A broad but readable introduction to Celtic Wicca, but historically and mythologically inaccurate. Only recommended to Wiccans.
Celtic Women's Spirituality is at best an introduction to Celtic Wicca. Without delving much into history or myth and legend, McCoy pulls out some aspects that she sees in ancient Celtic religion and connects them to aspects of mainstream Wicca. She envisions the three-faced Goddesses in Celtic mythology as the triple-goddess (virgin, mother, and crone) in Wicca, overemphasizes the female warrior in Celtic history in order to create a strong archetype for women to follow, has a number of sections about "Celtic shamanism," and provides a lengthy, somewhat arbitrary wheel of the year. The book is a broad introduction to Celtic Wicca, with a general overview of the factors that she sees as important and a sprinkling of guided meditations and rituals. What Celtic Women's Spirituality is not is an introduction to historic pre-Christian Celtic religion. Many of the factors that McCoy focuses on don't arise from Celtic myth or Celtic history, and they are heavily adapted to fit Wicca. If you are interested in "actual" Celtic religion and culture, or Celtic Reconstruction, this is not the book for you.
3-0 out of 5 stars New Age "Celtic" Fluff
She's a good author for those who want to take a teeny side step from the Wiccan tradition, without fully departing from Wicca. All of her works have a firm foundation in Wicca and this book is no exception.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I think that this book is a great book for any woman who feels connected with Celtic spirituality. This book gives insight on the different celtic goddesses, the triple goddess, and several other aspects. The rituals and guided meditation is great. She poses questions that will truly have you thinking about yourself as a woman. I give it five stars because I have read one of McCoy's books before and I think that this is definitely one of the best celtic books I have read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars down to earth spiritual practice
This book effectively illustrates the basic principles of female shamanism. It is easy to read, engaging and packed full of interesting research on women's spirituality.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hoo boy....!
Yet another white woman who says she's a "shaman," this one because she had some sort of psychotic break while sitting in the bathtub one day.She also says Filipino shamans "reach between molecules" to pull tumors out of people.Um, no, Honey, they use sleight-of-hand and chicken parts.Period.
4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting, well-written, but...
this book, while absolutely articulate and compelling, is essentially Noble's memoir of goddess-conciousness. The commentary on the medical industry's stances on issues such as childbirth and gynecology were one ofthe highlights of the text. However, the constant referencing and hyping ofthe author's tarot system, The Motherpeace Tarot deck, while expectable, gets tedious, especially to those who, like I, aren't really "spokento" by the system. Highly reccomended to those who are interested inpolitico-spiritual issues, especially those regarding women. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Is It Folks!!!
After reading numerous books on the subject of wicca/witchcraft, and hearing them used as the same word for so long, I am really glad someone finally put the fact that they are indeed two different things. This is not a book for the "frou frou" wiccans as I like to call them.If you want "frou frou" look elsewhere. This is a must have book in your library if you are truly trying to deciepher between that of the once very serious craft, now being over run by "frou frou's" who think that charmed is witchcraft at it's finest. If you are studying anything Celtic period this book is great,It's not just witchcraft in Ireland, it's history, it's geography it's IRELAND Period. Was a great read, finished it in 1 day actually, and I look forword to more from this author.
4-0 out of 5 stars Irish Path Specific
I groaned when I first read the title of this book. I thought it was yet another in those series of inane "this is the True Way of witchcraft" books that glut the shelves on the big bookstore chains. You know the ones...real magick books, faery lore books and the White Witch spell books.
3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I don't know what I was expecting when I purchased this book.I guess I was expecting a real, ancient, generations past look into witchcraft in it's early stages and how it evolved in the authors family. After all, Irish Witchcraft from and Irish Witch? What more could one want? Considerably more.I assumed that there would be more on the history of her family as a multi-generation witch. And I assumed there would be more of the "real" witchcraft, not this "Wicca for a new Milennium" stuff.Yes, there is some good information here, but my expectations were apparently too high. ...
