Sad product of our times
I am saddened to think that this book has been not only recieved but accepted and then proclaimed as truth.
Of course the fundamentalists are scared.......
It is clear that this is the book that Christian fundamentalists (I say this as an American, but I suppose the Muslim and other fundamentalists elsewhere would also fight it) don't want you to read.

Marriage Lifeline
My husband and I were days away from divorce.We were each given a copy of this book the night before our court appearance by a dear friend. He could see how much pain both of us were in and wanted desperately to help us.He had already attended The Arbinger Institutes training and had read all of their books; most recently, this book.He knew how powerful its message is to the right heart.
A Way Through and a Way Out
Skimming through the more than three dozen testimonials at the front of *The Anatomy of Peace* before going on to read it, I was certain that all the endorsers were guilty of overstatement. Now I can say that no praise is high enough. By reflecting the painful truth about my own "heart at war" that I was blind to, it completely changed how I perceive the ingredients that produce conflict in my own life.

I have to agree with the "Stick in the MUD"
I am very disappointed in her latest book. The book is repetitive andnever amounts to much of anything. I am tired of waiting to know if Katie Hart and Dayne will get together, I am tired of waiting book after book to see if the Baxter family unite? I understand as an avid reader about build up/ climax but this is silly. I firmly believe as with many authors when you have success with a series that you for profit or quota (contract) throw in books that would never stand alone. I collect all of her books in my library in my home however, I will not purchase anymore books in this series. The last book was easily " a library" find. I could of waited till I found it at the library.

Guess I'll be the stick in the mud
I've read every book in Kingsbury's Redemption/Firstborn series and, sadly, this one seems the weakest yet. All the weaknesses of Kingsbury's style are here -- everything overwritten, as if we can't remember what happened just a chapter before, supposedly dramatic statements that, again, just repeat what we already know, awkward, overly wordy phrasing, etc. Perhaps this is because Kingsbury seems to be on a treadmill of pumping out books like an automaker pumps out vehicles. Is that really the best way to produce memorable novels?

Getting in the Gap: Making conscious Contact with God Through Meditation
This is a great little book for keeping oneself in a state of positive being.It is small enough to be kept close by at all times to be referenced when needed at different times during the day.Dr. Dyer is an exceptional educator in the area of spirituality.This book is small but full of information for spiritual growth.I would highly recommend it to the world.

It's nice in the Gap
I really liked the peaceful fun feeling you get while reading this book. Very informative and well written. The book itself is like a showpiece I leave it out for anyone to read. Getting in the Gap and Japa are very effective forms of meditation, and with Wayne's help you instantly achieve higher levels of meditation with out the years of sitting around humming.

Excellent Reference Book!
This book has been invaluable to me for years.In coming across an animal in life or in dreams, I have derived much insight from the lifecyle and meaning of the animal, and have applied the lessons to my own life.Whether it was a blue jay dying in front of me, or an elephant communicating with me at the circus, we co-exist with the animals on this blue planet and need to hear what they are saying.I also recommend "From the Horses Mouth" by Amelia Kincade, as the best book on animal communication I have read.

A usefull touch of enlightenment
A brilliant sketch providing some much needed detail into a history we in the west especially have far to little understanding of . Mr. Aslan has filled in much of the void that is our understanding of Islam .His skills as a writer are spellbinding as he gives us a wondrous often pointed tour of the rich history of Islam. This is a book bathed in Mankind's quest To connect with and strive to connect with a higher understanding to the meaning of life. and often how we are mired in the muck of misunderstanding from which such Grave consequences can spring forth. This is a rich history by a scholarwho has the ability to articulate this tapestry of history .this book is remarkable and highly recommended.

I just finished reading this book. No other book has been able to summarize the history of Islam so cleary andsuccinctly. In less than 300 pages, Aslan has been able to explain to me, a Muslim, some of the complexities and political jostling of the Muslim community once the prophet Muhammad passed away.

One of the Best Chopra Books! The Core of it all.
Exceptional and brief book that hits the nail on the head with the main ideas and practices that can transform your life and help you to achieve what you want. I believe that Chopra initially did not like the word success for this book because it often registers for people as more materialistic than he means. This is a about life success in a grand and overarching way. Outstanding and HIGHLY Recommended!

I have read most all of Deepak Chopra's books - this one has a different presentaton style and makes for an entertaining reading and learning experience! A Dr. Laura Avoider
I have avoided Dr. Laura, her books, and her radio program for many years, fearing she would say something about me I didn't want to recognize.Ten Stupid Things did just that.How sad it is that women have such low self-esteem(though Gangi in her book explains this more as the lack of self-love)that they feel they have to settle for whatever and, more importantly, whomever pays any attention to them. If we would think twice, look in the mirror and truly love the person looking back, maybe we could lower the count from 10 to 1 or 2.

Makes good points despite brute force style
A lot of the mistakes listed in the book are dead on.For women who continue to make the same damaging choices into adulthood, this book could serve as a good wake up call.I do think the "pull yourself up by your own boot-straps" kind of advice falls short .And her own life examples of "look at me, I just willed myself to be strong" aren't exactly edifying.Someone who needs this advice the most might be turned off by her initial unsympathetic style and then not take in the good nuggets.In other cases, it could be the exact style and message someone needs.

For growth and a challane read these.
This is an amazing Catholic meditation and daily reflection series. The seven volumes have daily readings for each day of the church year as well as volume 6 & 7 being special Feast Days. The readings draw heavily upon the writings of Josemaria Escriva the founder of Opus Dei, Pope John Paul II, and the daily readings from the common liturgy for that day. The Sundays have three sets of readings depending on if we are in year A, B, or C in the church readings. These devotions are all about 6 pages long and divided into 3 sections. They can be read all as a lump or part in the morning, midday and evening. I find that with every day there is so much meat in these devotions that I am already planning on reading them again next year.

This series follows the gospel for the daily mass.If you don't have much time to read every day or attend daily mass this is for you!Just 15 minutes each morning will fill your mind and soul!You don't really need to read any other books if you faithfully read this.It's perpetual too so it'll last you many years!God Bless You!

The single best Catholic spiritual reading available without exception.
I have been an avid reader of Catholic literature for the past twenty years, and have easily read hundreds of Catholic books.In the early years of this period I tended to focus on books about devotional practices (e.g. rosary), Mary, apparitions and the saints.Over time, I found myself not so much interested in abandoning these topics but wanting to build upon them with readings that also dealt with progress in the spiritual life, particularly those that seemed to understand human psychology and the various aspects of virtues required for advancement in the spiritual life.So few writers seemed to be able to provide such a comprehensive range of themes - Garrigou Lagrange's Three Ages of the Interior Life is an exception.I must confess that over this entire time I have been attracted to finding a single book or single multi-volume work that could meet all of my needs.I must say that the 7 volume In Conversation with God series has meet and exceeded this need.

A good Catholic Study Bible just got better!
If Oxford University Press had done nothing but reset the first edition (1970) in a more readable typeface, the second edition would have been well worth its purchase price. They did this, and more.

This Bible is not a Leather version, just hardcover and no dust jacket either.It is tabbed which is great, but words of Jesus are not in red.Entire text is in black, commentary and actual Scriptures are in black, just different font size.Difficult to read. ... Read more

Hatha Yoga Bible!
This book is informative, well written and has the excact amount of theory/practicle information needed!!
Fascinating Approach To Anatomy
I purchased this book to assist in preparation for a small group presentation in a Yoga class at DePaul University.The course text (Donna Farhi's excellent "Yoga Mind, Body & Spirit") emphasized the need to understand bodies "to the cellular level" in order to fully appreciate what Yoga does for the body, and provided an introduction to each bodily system in relation to Yoga."Anatomy of Hatha Yoga" took that introduction to a level I never dreamed possible, and provided most, if not all of the information needed for our small group presentation on the skeletal system, especially in the context of Yoga.It's also extremely well written -- and yes, exhaustive and comprehensive -- but what comes through is the author's love of anatomy and Yoga.Some sections took more than one reading, but the challenge was as good for the brain as Yoga is for the body.I will recommend that this book be added to the course material, either as a required text or a reserve resource for students.Highly recommended.

My title says it all. The book is good, but it is not suitable for a novice. I was looking for books to recommend to new individuals to yoga, so I bought this book. Thought provoking, but that's all
It's easy to explain why I can't recommend this book.
If you've ever attended church, you need this book
I've been in the church all my life.This book is a true eye-opener.It helps explain some of the hesitation I've personally felt in some church settings and/or activities, and it helps me see a way to become involved in my church in a new and fresh manner.No wonder so many real men are so hesitant to come to church.Some of this has been under my own nose for years and I've never sensed it... yet I knew there was something right below the surface that was making some men run for the doors.If you have ever attended a church, you need to read this book, regardless of your gender.

Right up there and surpassing Christian men's books such as "Wild at Heart","Heart of a Tender Warrior", "Jesus Mean and Wild."Murrow's book goes straight to the heart of the problem of mens absence in the Churches of the United States.Further he offers viable solutions to change this equation while not totally alienating women, (who are the dominant factor in our churches).If you are frustrated with the overwhelming feminization of your church i.e, sermons, minitries, singing and all areas save perhaps "ushering" then you must read this book and come alive.

Misery in Print
Brian McLaren has no business writing a book about the message of Jesus, nevermind one that claims to reveal a 'secret message.' McLaren is not a theologian and not a historian. He shows no familiarity with Biblical languages, no familiarity of the secondary sources outside of the NT which would bring clarity to the context of the life of Christ, and no familiarity with the history of Gospel theology or criticism.

McLaren's book is just a mediocre attempt to understand the message of Jesus and its implications for today. Surely, McLaren is right to put emphasis on Jesus' message of the kingdom of God. Some of the contours of this aspect of Jesus' teaching have been all too often neglected by fundamentalists and evangelicals.

One of my favorite books of all time!
This book delves deeply into the heart issues behind many of our actions. In reading this book, I was most convicted about allowing my circumstances to dictate my behavior. Nancy speaks heavily on the responsiblity we each have to find our joy in Christ and not in our circumstances, which is something that's good for every women to be reminded of.

Outstanding book for all women
This is one of the most succint and direct books I've ever read for a woman who wants to live a Godly life.I loved it so much that I bought one for my mom and best friend.She is direct and clear with her writings and I felt that it applied to all Christian women who desire to truly walk the walk.Life applicable.
Lies Women Believe
This book had a lot of extreme views.Demoss generalizes constantly.I felt she twisted scripture to explain her point of view.I did gleam some good out of the book.I am a fairly new Christian and I felt it was more harmful then good.I felt it could give a Christain women a feeling there are only absolutes to God's way, that we are not individuals.I felt it weighed me down more than lifted me up.I had to go back to God's word and study because at times I felt the study was toxic.I think Demoss is very biased and narrow minded.I would especially not recommend it if you are a new Christian.I also about group study I would only recommend it if you are with seasoned Christians who are willing to be objective about this book. ... As always, Scott Cunningham comes through with the information that we needed as those on the solitary path. If you can't find what you need in here, you may not really need it.

Wonderful Book for Beginners
This book is a wonderful introduction to Wicca.Scott Cunningham writes in a way that is very understanding and non-threatening, and he makes the reader feel as though it's absolutely okay to follow whatever path they choose because it's their life and no one else's.I am not Wiccan, but I felt the book helped me to appreciate my eclectic pagan path more because of the way he writes.I also recommend Living Wicca.It is a sequel to this book that goes into how to actually apply the concepts in everyday life. ...
