Great Book
Great Book I will recommend people to read it.

Bible Stories for Grownups
Wow! Excellent book! I have read this aloud to my kids...we are all amazed at the content...even though I've been a Christian for 20 years, I am learning an amazing amount of information and love the tie-ins from Old Testament stories and how they relate and foreshadow Christ! What a great addition to our Home schooling...our discussions are incredible and so appropriate for the here and now! ALL of the children take part...from a six to 15 years of age! WHO SAYS THIS IS FOR GROWNUPS?!! Great book!

A Must For Christian Parents!
I read this book for the first time this morning. I was blown away by how real it felt. Stormie's words really help internalize this timeless story. I think this book is great for teaching our children the story of the nativity in a fresh way. Great for What I Wanted
I wanted a book that had Bible Stories that were not completely watered down but that would be a one page synopsis of the story. This is excellent. The stories are complete and yet are simple to read. Each story takes up one page. The other page has a picture of the even in a coloring book line drawing form. The pictures are detailed so it is not a young child's coloring book, but that does not mean a yougn child could not color the pages. But this goes beyond, is more in depth, than a young child's coloring book or simple Bible story book. Read more

Great Background on the Prophets
I am a seminary student who had and might end up again having Dr. Hutton as an Old Testament Teacher at Trinity Lutheran Seminary.His book is a great read for those who want to go just under the surface in understanding the prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures.It is detailed just enough so it makes sense without being overwhelming.In the book, you will learn the different types of prophets which really shead light as to their function in their respective texts.Also, the book goes in great detail about the Book of Jeremiah. Reading the text itself is complicated but with Hutton's book makes the text make sense.Great book for laypeople and those entering the minsitry.For the record, I was not paid for making this comment.

Helpful little volume on the prophets!
Hutton has written a helpful little introduction to the prophets. He accepts the prophets as real persons even if filtered by the work of later editors. The author accepts many standard tenants of historical criticism. Such positions as the sign of Josiah (1 Kings 13) being a "fabricated story," (34) and Isaiah's angel of the Lord an embellishment of a historical account show his anti-supernatural bias.Hutton continues to propagate the false dichotomy between oracles of judgment as marks of a true prophet and oracles of hope as indications of later additions.The primary message of each book rather than its structure or genre is the emphasis of the author's treatment and Hutton often provides helpful insights in his discussion. For example, his comment on Micah and preaching (verb nataf) is a nice summary. All in all the book is a nice read and would be quite helpful to any seeking an overview of the Old Testament prophetic books.
