The Best of the Best
How does one critique the inerrant word of God?Well, you do it with the most detailed blueprint available.Nelson's NKJV Study Bible, large print, is outstanding.The illustrations are abundant and colorful.The mapping is thorough and appropriately assigned to the timelines in question.The word focus is on point and informative.The language is still beautifully couched in Elizabethan English but streamlined to eliminate some of the more archaic usage.The poetic harmony of the NKJV is enhanced by the large script which supports easier, faster reading and absorbtion.And the notes; they are magnificant. How do I know; I have a Matthew Henry; a DAKE; a MacArthur and a Ryrie, all of which are excellent Study Bibles.The notes are good in all but they are over the top in the Nelson.Oh and by the way, I am well aware of the fact that the KJV is the Byzantine Text or Textus Receptus (some call it the majority text) which has received some negative press by those who prefer to hang their hat on Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus; that perhaps editorial license and interpolation was taken by some over zealous scribes some few hundred years ago and that Nestle Aland and Westcott & Hort's Text should be the scriptural searchlight for all future issues.Folks, I have a Life Application Study Bible, NLT and I love it but to all of those of us who love literary masterpeices, I ask you to consider Shakespeare in "dynamic functional equivalence".This Nelson NKJV is a fabulous product that just plain feels good everytime I pick its big old body up.Thanks Nelson!
It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
I read the previous reviewers' comments and weighed them carefully before I ordered my copy.I'm very pleased with this study Bible and its concise notes printed in a very comfortable font (for an over-50 lady in trifocals) .It's ALL there with something for study on every page.And, no, I don't carry it around with me, either, but that's not a problem.It won't blow away!Very pleased.

Best Study Bible Available

Before you buy the "premium bonded" . . .!
I'll start by saying the ESV version of the Bible is wonderful.This presentation of scripture is eloquent and flowing.I would recommend this version to just about anyone.
The Shoddiness Continues.....
Shoddy. Cheap. Glue-bound. Spine-cracking.Short ribbon marker. Junk. But, inside this inferior piece of work lies one of the finest English translations of the last fifty years. However!! Customers be aware!: In Summer, 2005, I, and many others, received an e-mail asking for suggestions for changes, because the English Standard Version Translation Committee is now working on a revision already!!!! It will probably be out in 2007. Everything is pretty hush-hush. The egalitarian folks on a few websites are probably pushing for more inclusive language. So, maybe purchasing ANY ESV should wait until the revision appears. Back to this edition. The print is fairly large(12.75),a better font could have been chosen, and could be darker. The ribbon marker barely extends beyond the bottom page. The spine cracks easily in front and back(already sent one back to Crossway for this). It has book intros and a fairly concise Concordance. Most Crossway Bibles are garbage.
Pure reading pleasure
Now that I am in my 50s I wanted a Bible that had larger print and I found it in the ESV large print edition. I bought the leather bound copy and it is a truly fine Bible. It comes with a ribbon marker (to keep the ribbon from fraying dab a little clear finger nail polish on the bottom half inch of both sides of the ribbon). The leather is stiff but will soften as it is held and also saddle soap can help. The 12.5 point font size is wonderful. It is so refreshing to read a Bible that is simply the Bible text and nothing else. There are translator notes which enhance the ESV but there are no cross references with this edition (which I am happy with). Just to sit and meditate on the pure text is something I wanted. The ESV comes in many fine variations- the Reformation Study Bible is terrific, their reference editions are also very fine. As far as being a good translation- this is bound to give the NIV, the NAS and the NKJV a real run for the money. I find it is elegant, precise and reverent. All in all, this is worth every penny of investment to have a large print leather bound Bible which with a little care will be a treasured companion for life. ... Read more

A Remarkable Bible Reading Experience
I love this Bible in chronological order. I've read through it several times and I've been reading it each day throughout this year. LaGard Smith has created an unforgettable experience in arranging the Bible content into a different format. This slight shifting makes the stories fresh and alive in a new way.
Anyone interested in the Bible should read this at least once
I have been a Christian for many years, and every year, start out with the good intentions of reading the Bible in its entirety THIS year. New Insight

Superb Bible Value
This KJV Bible was just as advertised. The print is nice and large. Although the cover is a little stiff at first, it loosens up very quickly. Several people have commented on the quality and size (it is a large bible)and I have ordered them repeatedly for gifts. Cannot imagine anyone being able to beat this value elsewhere.

Large print is the way to go
This Bible is a little larger than most, but has a beautiful soft leather cover and I don't even need my glasses to read it!

Holy Bible
I like the large text as well as the weight of the book.This is not a small book if you are concerned about weight.It is very nice.Jesus words are in red in this book.A friend of mine purchased one similar to the presentation edition offered here and the red text was not there and he was disappointed.I purchased this one for him as well.I give bibles as gifts to Christ believers and think that I will send this to many more people. ... NIV Holy Bible Giant Print Reference Edition
For those of us who are getting on in years and need a larger print to make reading again a pleasure, this is the Bible to buy. I only wish I had purchased the leather bound edition.The print is both large and bold, making it easy to read for longer periods of time.I highly recommend this product.

Great Bible -- Red Letter edition
I bought this bible for a relative who had trauma to his one good eye.He had a large print that he could read except the red words in the gospels.There was not enough contrast for him.I bought this one because it did not list "Red letter edition" as one of the features.It most definitely is a red letter edition.Happily the text size is big enough for him to read.Even the red is legible to him but it is not as easy to read as the black text.

Great work of textual criticism
This book takes a new look at the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus. Unlike some of the other books on the market touting to give you "the real Jesus" Dr. Teel shows a lively and plausible Jesus. Jesus the man, human and compassionate, he strips away the myth and leaves golden nuggets of truth. I like the way Dr. Teel used only the bible to support his argument. The book brought the bible to life for me. I felt as if I were walking through the gospels verse by verse. Dr. Teel is easy to read and understand. He doesn't speak over your head but he does speak to your heart. I have a whole new perspective on the bible not only as a Holy book, but as literature, and a new view of the Jesus I thought I knew. The chapters are well laid out to guide the reader through Dr. Teel's analysis. I really enjoyed the book and have recommended it to all of my friends.

I wish some of the Bible spouters would realize what they are quoting.D. Fox's review quotes the Bible as:
WHO can quote scripture for WHAT?
The fact is, the more we quest, the better we understand."It is better to love the truth than to know the truth," and "Beware the man of one book."Whether we agree with him or not, Dr. Teel helps us see the "old, old story" with new eyes, and any attempt to quash such efforts throws fuel on the flames.

i'll start that i have 4 study bibles, a big large print thats too heavy to carry so it stays home, a small fat regular print i stoped carrying to church ( cant read the small print)and 2 more that i seldom take to church ( both are not good reference bible ).

I Wouldn't Be Without This Concordance
In my opinion "The "Strong's Concordance" is the best concordance on the market. It works best with either the "King James" or "New King James" Versions of the Bible. Loving to stday Scripture and write I have many referance books. I use my "Strong's Concordance" and my "American Dictionary of the Enligh Language: Noah Webster's 1828 Edition" more than all the rest of my referance books put together. The Concordance's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary's are a faantastic aid to Scripture study. Along with my 1928 Webster's Dictionary, I use them constantly.The "Strongest Strongs" is the edition I own and highly recommend.

not very strong.....
i was looking forward to updating my bible studies but i was totally disappointed in this book..it wasnt the content but the printing is way tooooo light..a 60yr old eyes cant pickup the words or numbers the print way too light and the words and numbers printed too close together it looks like they were trying to save on paper by condensing it all. this book is half the thickness of my other strongs soo "i do not recommend this book"

Great Self-Help/Success Book for Christian Women
The Confident Woman is a great book for Christian women who feel a calling to do more in their lives (regardless of their age). Joyce leads you through claiming your confidence, becoming bold without being overbearing, and overcoming fear in order to succeed in life.In the beginning of the book she covers Adam vs. Eve issues and weaves the message that men and women are and should be partners not enemies.Keep your bible with you for this book as you may want to cross reference, although most biblical passages are included in The Confident Woman, some are only mentioned to be referenced.
