5-0 out of 5 stars Community-Building - Timely and practical
Palmer offers hope for a 21st century expression of community - intentional, connected and open.Offering a way to break through barriers internally (indidually) and within the community (collectively), Palmer's method provides help and hope from a spiritual perspective - free of advice, full of hope and honoring diversity.

5-0 out of 5 stars Compassionate Intelligence
In A HIDDEN WHOLENESS, the highly respected writer, lecturer, teacher and activist, Parker J. Palmer describes the creation of a "circle of trust," a specific kind of community that welcomes the soul and helps those involved to hear its voice. Over the last several years, Palmer and his colleagues at the Center for Courage and Renewal [www.couragerenewal.org] have forged, tested, and re-worked the practices and principles of creating such circles. This book reflects both Palmer's own transformation from living a divided life to finding the courage to live divided no more. He reflects on his own and others experience as they have moved into circles of trust to live lives of deep integrity.

I ordered it for the purpose of a daily devotional. I am a seminary student and have read other things from Palmer. He does a great job of introducing us to an undivided life with integrity. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good drawings and sex tips
I liked this Kama Sutra because the numerous positions are presented with very good drawings. There are many tips which accompany the positions and even carnal ratings so you will not try ones which are too difficult for your level of fitness and flexibility. I also liked "Why she will like it" part next to each position.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Cosmo Way
I have really enjoyed this book so far.The drawings are excellent, and the fact that there is a "carnal challenge" rating for each position cracks me up.Some of the positions look just the same as others with *extremely* slight differences, but if you read the descriptions, they really are different enough to be very significant.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stick with what feels great & not with what you can contort....
In life we all learn what you can & cannot do, or in this case what feels great & what doesn't, through trial-and-error.If you buy this book, it will be an ERROR.While it may look cool to have it lying around for people to "accidentally" see, an experienced person is probably going to laugh.I'm sorry, but this book is for the younger person who just wants to see how many ways a body part (especially the male's) can bend or TRY to extend. Most of the positions are just repeats drawn from a different angle. Some ARE impossible unless you never want your man to use his "item" again because you helped him break it backwards. Most are just positions...not meant to feel great or even good...just that you can do them but they're not meant for much of anything.I think Cosmo used their name to sell a book...just a book with not much "oomph".My honest advice, coming from older adult experience, save your money and just let nature, & what feels great to you both, take its course. You don't need a book to tell you what should feel good to him (or her).Instead, try just asking the person.I've found that communication is the way to a GREAT sex life! Both of you need to find out what feels great to each other and invent your own various positions from there.... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Complicated and Deep
This is a good exposition of mindfulness theory and practice. Althought a novice therapist will find the text useful, most of the insight gained by reading this text will be achieved by therapists with 5 to 10 years actual practice under their belts. I would advise novice therapists to buy this book immediately and then delve into each chapter several times per month for the next few years. They will never regret it. The problem and promise on this book is that it requires you to go back and review each concept of your original training, whether it is Adlerian, Freudian, Cognitive or Christian. Mindfulness is the goldplating overlay that makes your therapy more valuable.

5-0 out of 5 stars a wise, invaluable resource
This well-written, wise, accessible book will help novice and seasoned therapists incorporate mindfulness practice into their clinical work, skillfully and thoughtfully. The editors and contributors provide a range of expert perspectives on the role of mindfulness in psychotherapy and convey the complexity of good psychotherapy, mindfulness practice, and the union of the two. The clarity with which they accomplish this is remarkable. The depth of their personal and professional expertise and experience is evident throughout. Inclusion of a thorough review of current research in the area is another notable strength of the volume.I highly recommend this book to clinicians and researchers interested in the powerful role that mindfulness may play in psychological healing. It is essential reading for anyone interested in this highly promising area of study.
5-0 out of 5 stars A special collection about nothing special
As a psychotherapist for 30 years and a mindfulness practitioner for nearly 10 years, I have read a lot of good books and articles on both subjects."Mindfulness and Psychotherapy" is as clear and helpful in both disiplines as any I have encounted. The editors have done a 'mindful' job in selecting from an array of perspectives.Mindfulness is defined and contextualized for our western psychotherapeutic practice, while also placed in an historical and cultural framwork that informs and enlightens our understanding. Indeed the more philosophical essays are perhaps the strongest pieces in this marvelous compendium. We are reminded that the Buddah saw himself as a physician who sought to diagnose and find a cure for human suffering.Out of his own intimate encounter with suffering, he devised and revised a program that we in western psychological science are just now testing and finding curative-both for our clients and for ourselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars the way to go
This book takes all the sting out of forgiviness. The tools presented support positive and quick changes in life and events. Instead of feeling victimized by forgiving someone, these tools show how forgiveness is the highest form of love, strength and power. If patterns are repeating in your life, or you can't let go of an event or experience, this book could hold the key.

I can see this book (piece of work) has saved many lives, saved many from life threatening illnesses, healed broken relationships.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best self-help book ever!
I read _Radical Forgiveness_ after one particularly painful argument with a boyfriend that I couldn't separate from. We'd tried to break up dozens of times before, but we still could neither change our patterns of behavior with each other nor break it off entirely.

Sylvia Browne's INSIGHT: CASE FILES FROM THE PSYCHIC WORLD comes from a best-selling author who here provides stories about her career giving psychic readings. Some fifty years of such readings contribute to a well-rounded survey of how she's changed lives, how her psychic gifts work, and how she has built a career based upon them. Editorial Review

After years of spiritual study and reflection, inspirational speaker and bestselling author Wayne Dyer has emerged a highly esteemed teacher. His current message about tapping into the power of intention may sound like good old positive thinking: just stay focused on what you want, rather than focusing on the lack of having what you want. But the teaching here goes deeper than just controlling thoughts (although he does acknowledge that thought control is a surprisingly challenging and significant endeavor). This book might help readers land a better job, but it's more relevant for those who are ready to detach from an ego-driven life filled with quick fixes of happiness and step into a more authentic, joyful, and spiritually fulfilling life. His core teachings speak to tapping into a universal source of energy that can also be called the "power of intention." He calls people who are consciously co-creating with this energy source "connectors" and describes them as "individuals who have made themselves available for success...They don't say Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Intention Creates Invention
"Imagination Is More Important Than Knowledge..."
5-0 out of 5 stars Solid, attainable advice for those who want to live their purpose
In his book The Power of Intention, Dr. Wayne Dyer's main point seems to be that your life is co-created by you and "Intention" (which is his word for God or the Source of all power).
5-0 out of 5 stars More outstanding work from Dyer
Been a Wayne Dyer fan for some years so of course I would like his latest work. What has most impressed me about it is the impact it has had on my thrity two year old son. He recently went through a divorce and had been struggling with some other problems and some how this hit him dead center. He quit drinking, quit smoking and meditates as well as running again. The proof is in the results and I am impressed the impact it has had on him. I loved the book and feel like this one is a step up in a good way from his other work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Knowledge is Power , a MUST READ!
Alot of folks love to criticize Bill Cooper. I personally think he was reporting truths from his experiences & information he got his hands on.He claims right up front that some info may not be accurate. He NEVER claims to be 100% accurate, and gives you his sources for the info, not just opinions. He took a stand to expose secret information he felt the public should know.Whether you agree with him or not, you've got to respect the man. He fought to get this book published & ultimately lost his life holding on to that "stand".It's risk-takers like him that gives us knowledge & information to see hidden truths.Thank you & God Bless you, Bill.Rest in Peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars your headed in the right direction...
This book is not for those who wish to continue living their monotonous and stressful lifestyles. This is meant to make you aware and to further draw your own conclusions.Critical thinkers only!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting read! But don't rely on Google to discount this author!
I just want to say that this book allows you to draw your OWN conclusions from information a man was able to provide andbecause of that..i find this book interesting and a good read.As for his death, all deaths that look suspicious are NEVER suspicious. As for going on Google to find out about the "real" Cooper; let it be said that you need to do alot more research on someone than going to Google to take something as FACT! Google is NOT the most reliable source, it is simply what it is; A SOURCE OF INFORMATION. The book is worth the read. Especially the part of the book that speaks about FEMA; any one heard of LA riots, Katrina? He speaks on FEMA's role very candidly and we can use both these instances as to how true he was in this area of his book. But don't base your knowledge or interest on any of our reviews...read the book for yourself and make your own conclusion of an interesting read, ENJOY! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful introduction to mindfulness meditation
I'm sad to see a reviewer be so judgmental about this audio - especially one who claims to respect the teachings of the Buddha. These guided meditations are accessible for anyone, without the baggage of what some might call a religion - Buddhism. (For me, it's a philosophy more than a religion, and I have learned more about Buddha and his teachings because of these audios.)As cassette tapes, these audios were my introduction to the practice, and they resonated for me then, and still do after 13 years.
1-0 out of 5 stars a dumbed-down version of old Buddhist texts - ex. Satipatthana Sutta
It's very disappointing to read/listen to individuals who take old buddhists texts and re-interpret the texts as their own.Kabat-Zinn borrows so much and rarely mentions Buddhism.Pitiful.For those critically evaluating the book/audio, it's useful to note that many of these new ideas are actually old ones; simply because no one has a copyright on old buddhist texts doesn't imply that we can without impunity stealthily borrow their ideas without citation.
1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was disappointed by the lack of creativity brought to this expensive set of cd's.I'm sorry to say, "Guided Mindfulness Meditation" was silent, and slow going.Metaphors, stories, nuggets, and music were missing. My first purchase of Dr. Kabat-Zinn's work was the audiotape, "Wherever You Go There You Are".Dr. Kabat-Zinn did a great job here through his use of voice, music, and text.He was able to transport me to a peaceful state, his soothing voice lyrically illustrating relaxation metaphors.Soothing music was the backdrop for his interesting approach mixing together fact and story.I was hoping "Guided Mindfullness Meditation" would be just as inviting. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Cure HIV/Aids with diet, exercise and castor oil packs?
While I have an excellent understanding of the metaphysical philosopy, the idea that one can diagnose and cure disease such as HIV and Aids with diet, castor oil packs and the like, is absurd. As a registered nurse, my first and only encounter with this author, leaves me unsure, other than book sales, why she would make this claim.
2-0 out of 5 stars Misses the mark and with leaps in logic to hasty conclusions
I have to preface this review by saying that I am not a Caroline Myss fan. This is not based upon my past religious upbringing, but rather on her approach to an attempted synthesis between the Jewish, Christian and Hindu teachings on metaphysics and energy systems. In short, I think she missed the mark and tried to force fit areas together based more on her assumptions about reality than a natural meshing together of concepts.
3-0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings
for most of my life, I have felt that a connection exists between our psychological and emotional experiences and the illnesses we develop, that in many ways our illnesses represent a metaphor for the emotional and spiritual crises that we go through.over the course of the last few years I have been exploring different forms of spirituality and healing practices that integrate spirituality with an understanding of the body.in a lot of places I would read references to the idea I described above, of illness as a manifestation of spiritual crises, but no one ever really seemed to go in to the subject at great length.so I was excited when I found Myss's book, as it seemed to delve deeply into this subject, and also explored the relationship between healing and mysticism.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Moving and Illuminating Look the Powers of the Heart and Mind
My spiritual journey began in 1996 and during that time I have read a great many spiritual books and attended workshops which have helped me to work through issues, some more than others. I have experienced times of gradual changes as well as moments that have propelled me to new levels. Reading Inspiration caused the latter of the two. Plagued with a closed heart in a particular area of my life was causing great anxiety and disorder but while reading Inspiration love and peace began to radiate throughout my entire being and the turmoil within myself shifted and melted away.

I must admit that I have not read much of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, so this is my actual first exposure to his perceptions. After reading the reviews before me I can understand what those people were getting stressed from in his way of translating the information.

This book almost vibrates with the amazing collection of spells and magic it contains. It is an ultimate reference indeed, drawing from all cultures and magical systems possible to include several options for each catagory of spell. The way it is organized only adds to its usefullness- it is catagorized alphabetically, and makes for and easy flip to whatever type of assitance you feel you need in your workings. With a bonus introduction section that covers spellwork basics, to the formulary in the back describing the concoction of various classic brews, this book is a must-have for any active magical practitioner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Book, Powerful Words
I have given away several copies of this book and reference it in my presentations and small retreats.Similar to another reviewer with a charismatic background, I was surprised that I now recommend this book! However, in my case I found the ideas in this book (but not necessarily in all her books) to be very consistent with faith, positive confessions and words that "create."We have a God-given creative ability that can be blocked by what is in our unconscious. Our unidentified/unaddressed negative thoughts or emotions (hurt, anger, bitterness) counteract everything positive that we read/believe in our conscious mind. When you address those things, all of you is on the same page, and it's very powerful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Showing Our True Colors
Mary Miscisin's book was outstanding! It was a fun and easy read, yet full of informative and interesting ideas about people and how and why they act the way they do.Having been an educator for many years, this is THE book I could have used long ago to better interact with my students and their parents. The book's content makes easy what Myers-Briggs tries to do.I would recommend it to anyone who has a desire to deal more effectively with children or adults.

As an educator with 30 years experience in the classroom and in coaching, I wish I could have read Mary Miscisin's book 30 years ago!I would have been a much better teacher and coach because I would have had a much better understanding of my students and athletes and how to more effectively communicate with them based on their colors.I couldn't put the book down because I kept meeting past students as well as people I know now represented in Miscisin's creative and stimulating examples."Showing Our True Colors" was so challenging and packed with information, yet so simple to understand and implement.Every parent, teacher, and coach ought to read the book.It is a must for couples and anyone who wants to communicate more effectively.Where was this book when I needed it?Oh, yeah, I still do need it today. Thanks Mary! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not his best work
I love Dyer's voice and thought this would be quite incredible so my expectations were high ~ my mistake. All is well until it comes to the sounds he is instructing the listener to chant and then his voice becomes the most annoying drone that distracts the meditation and thus defeats the purpose.Later he adds some affirmations that seem out of place and throws your focus off even further. It may have been helpful if he had included some music in the background to make the recording more relaxing and give the listener something else to hear besides Dyer breathing between chants.Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of his work and always will be.However, I'm a little surprised that this recording remains on the market rather than being re-recorded to bring the quality to a higher standard.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Cruisin' Meditation
I love this CD.I have always felt silling trying to meditate at home, but have been using this in the car during my commute to and from home. No, I am not zoning-out while driving!I just chant along with Wayne & find myself calmer and more centered when I arrive at my destination. It's a great way to "shed the workday" before you get home.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Bible That Actually Makes Sense.
Even before I bought The Satanic Bible I've always favored the Satanic religion the most because it makes the most sense, instead of denying you of your natural needs, it embraces them. It doesn't discriminate again anyone whether you're white, black, asian, European, gay, straight, bisexual or whatever, it'll except you no matter what. The Bible was a big help to answer a few questions I had about the religion and I'm not even half way through it yet and it's gotten me to respect the religion a lot more then I already did. If you only think Satanism is whatever the christians cowardly discribe it to be or if you're just plain courious then you should buy it and read it. If you don't like it after you try it then you don't have to keep it so it won't hurt anyone. There's a million things in the first few chapters that makes it a great bible that actually makes sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Master Bardon.....Thanks !!!
Without any doubt, the mental training exercises found inside this great book are the best....period ! This is a must to anyone who aspire to harness the real power behind its own mind.
5-0 out of 5 stars A true philosophical and magical guide.
There are a number of ways of reading this book. Philosophically, magically and on a practical level. Having bought it in 1979 I had to wait for the internet to be able to discuss the various aspects of this book with other people who have read it particularly since some aspects of it are not easy for the neophyte and one could not find Bardon readers round the corner. I started my own discussion group and a few months later a real professional group was set up so I dropped mine.Discussion groups also offered the opportunity to clarify some of its more obscure points while as it encouraged those who were more advanced along the path to write books on the matters discussed in the IIH in order to explain teh more obscure areas and adress readers questions. Thus the involvement in IIH can be total for the seeker. One progresses along the path of magic at one's own pace finding light along the way.

A kind and gentle soul, I think it was not very sporting of god to send FB against the 99 lodge! Everyone is concentrating on how difficult this book is, but the moment you start you are changing, it's working already.. a bit of faith? it is not hard and not easy, but requires persistence. you'll get it. And boy will you be surprised! delighted, happy. esp. dont think about how much there is to do, like a drip wearing away a stone keep going without constantly looking for results.. go to a genuine tarot reader when you despair, thats what they were sent for. the secret is the journey, not the destination. hugh spiritual growth will begin within two months, in a subtle way. blessed with luck, your power gently increases, allowing you to be reborn without all the crap you thought you were. and every thing goes your way, a thrill! its worth it, but you already know that. Give me a call, 99 has its members so why not us. [...] ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best News Yet or a Hoax?
This book is either the best news you've ever heard or it's total B.S.The authors' premise is that many people have been contacted by deceased loved-ones through various means; for instance, by visions of them, by hearing their voices, while the experiencers are awake, while asleep, etc.But the subjects have been reluctant to speak about them for fear of being deemed crazy.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book!
I have read several books on Near Death Experiences, and I came across this book while reading "Lessons From The Light."This is an excellent book.It is filled with so many great accounts of After Death Communications. If you have ever been interested in ADCs, then you need to read this....it will really make you stop and think. It helps you to realize that some things aren't simply "dreams" but actual ADCs!!I have had one, and it made me excited to learn that so many others have had the same experience.
5-0 out of 5 stars Forever Grateful.
My 22 year old son past away unexpectedly, leaving his 5 month old daughter. My pain was so unbearable, I just wanted to die. Reading this book three weeks after his death gave me comfort, strength, understanding and hope to survive such a horrible loss. I am forever grateful to this book for helping me in my deepest pain. This book has helped me to gain such strength to live again. I could not have done it without reading "Hello from Heaven". ... Read more

Can water tell us something about ourselves? Given the human body is seventy (70) percent water; is it possible that how water is affected by the environment is in direct relation to how we are affected? In his book, The Hidden Messages in Water, Masaru Emoto explores the crystalline structure of frozen water that has been exposed to various environmental factors while pondering this possibility. Emoto has taken thousands of beautiful photographs under microscopes from water sources all over the world. He believes that the varying types of crystals, or lack of, hold a message about our own health and more. He shares many of his best photos throughout the book as an important visual aid in making his case.
