Editorial Review

The lure of this book's promise starts with the assumption in its title. Possibility--that big, all-encompassing, wide-open-door concept--is an art? Well, who doesn't want to be a skilled artist, whether in the director's chair, the boardroom, on the factory floor, or even just in dealing with life's everyday situations? Becoming an artist, however, requires discipline, and what the authors of Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Open YOURSELF up to a world of possibility!
This book was recommended to me several times, and I'm glad I finally found the time to read it.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great title - not as good on the content
I finished a book last night - The Art of Possibility. Great title but not as inspiring as I had hoped. It did have one quote that I liked. A great maestro, Herbert von Karajan jumped into a taxi and shouted to the driver "Hurry, hurry". "Very good sir " where to?" said the driver. "It does not matter" said von Karajan. "I am needed everywhere".
2-0 out of 5 stars It's what you want it to be.
I respect all the positive reviews here, but have a different opinion. For me, this book was like being trapped at a 2 hour meal in a restaurant with a couple I didn't like. If you already see the world in very positive terms, this book will verify your view in glowing new ways. If you're not in a positive place and are trying to get out of it by reading books with titles like "The Art of Possibility", it's not for you. At all. Does it help when people invite you to "cheer up?" Didn't think so. Imagine that x 100. Annoying.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!
This series of books really changed my Life!!I've actually applied what The Masters talk about and it really works!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not a weight loss or self help book...
I can see how western civilization readers may have a very difficult time accepting Life and Teachings as nothing more than black magic. It goes very deep. This is not a series of books that you sit down and read like the DaVinci code. Have you ever, as an example, opened up the King James version of the New Testament at your hotel room and tried to actually read it and take any of it in? Its tough. Not a page turner. Kind of boooorrring. No wonder we have sunday church to get us through it all. Life and Teachings has to be read in small bites people. Really. Yes, there is a message of sorts that comes out of it: Your religion is right. So is your neighbors and so is there neighbors. Yet it doesnt focus so much on "religion" as it does on the human potential. Thats where its at. And, thats where this read keeps going. This is not an easy book series to get through. Dont pick it up and expect "an answer" right away. You have to work a bit. Like a textbook rather than a Dan Brown Novel. It's laughable that people who read about "men that move mountains or part waters etc" can't comprehend it in anything other than magic. Life and Teachings is a thinker series. You read a bit. You stop. You think. Pick it up later and read some more. Not entertaining nor was it meant to be, but it strikes a lightning bolt at a few nerve endings you didnt know you had. And, no, you won't have to send any money to a special group or PO Box at the end. They dont have a Web site either. Baird Spalding is quite dead as are all the other scientists that went into thosemountains in the late 1800's that resulted in this book series. Read it. Don't worry. You won't grow hair on your palms and it won't corrupt your 21st century thinking on modern christianity. The message of Life and Teachings is; Put down your swords. Everyone's right about why we "are". Buddah, Jesus, Allah, Mohammmed, everyone of you....YOu all came down the same road from the same hilltop and this is an excellent tutorial on how that could be and examples of the human potential. Its nothing new. No revelations.Millions of years have gone by and its all still the same except on-going arguments.

1-0 out of 5 stars jesus throwing thunderbolts?!
The first volume was interesting fiction. Hide a city in a mountain?! In later volumes jesus is throwing thunderbolts and killing the 'enemy' is not the jesus of the new testament. Instead buy Aquarian Gospel, Impersonal Life, Door of Everything and on recincarnation/heaven read testimony of light, but skip the introduction and notice the constant unfolding as in the movie ground hog day ... Editorial Review

Blasphemy! Heresy! Who does this man think he is, claiming to speak directly to God?! Jesus did it, Muhammad did it, the Jewish prophets did it, but none of their Gods had the sardonic wit or raw verve of Prophet Walsch's God. Neale Donald Walsch isn't claiming to be the Messiah of a new religion, just a frustrated man who sat down one day with pen in his hand and some tough questions in his heart. As he wrote his questions to God, he realized that God was answering them... directly... through Walsch's pen. The result, far from the apocalyptic predictions or cultic eccentricities you might expect, turns out to be matter-fact, in-your-face wisdom on how to get by in life while remaining true to yourself and your spirituality. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Sad product of our times
I am saddened to think that this book has been not only recieved but accepted and then proclaimed as truth.
4-0 out of 5 stars Of course the fundamentalists are scared.......
It is clear that this is the book that Christian fundamentalists (I say this as an American, but I suppose the Muslim and other fundamentalists elsewhere would also fight it) don't want you to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Chopra Books! The Core of it all.
Exceptional and brief book that hits the nail on the head with the main ideas and practices that can transform your life and help you to achieve what you want. I believe that Chopra initially did not like the word success for this book because it often registers for people as more materialistic than he means. This is a about life success in a grand and overarching way. Outstanding and HIGHLY Recommended!
2-0 out of 5 stars NOT TO SURE~!
This book was a definite let down fo me.
5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book from Deepak!
I have read most all of Deepak Chopra's books - this one has a different presentaton style and makes for an entertaining reading and learning experience! I think everyone else in their book reviews have nailed the importance of this book and what it is about - but for me it was one one of his best books! A great gift buy for someone you love!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Dr. Laura Avoider
I have avoided Dr. Laura, her books, and her radio program for many years, fearing she would say something about me I didn't want to recognize.Ten Stupid Things did just that. How sad it is that women have such low self-esteem(though Gangi in her book explains this more as the lack of self-love)that they feel they have to settle for whatever and, more importantly, whomever pays any attention to them. If we would think twice, look in the mirror and truly love the person looking back, maybe we could lower the count from 10 to 1 or 2.

3-0 out of 5 stars Makes good points despite brute force style
A lot of the mistakes listed in the book are dead on.For women who continue to make the same damaging choices into adulthood, this book could serve as a good wake up call.I do think the "pull yourself up by your own boot-straps" kind of advice falls short .And her own life examples of "look at me, I just willed myself to be strong" aren't exactly edifying.Someone who needs this advice the most might be turned off by her initial unsympathetic style and then not take in the good nuggets. In other cases, it could be the exact style and message someone needs.

4-0 out of 5 stars someone is retarded
i havent actually read this book, although i plan to. i would just like to say that mike rotch, the retard a few comments down, really should learn how to speak/write english before he knocks a book.i could not for the life of me understand what the hell he is talking about. sneezing? from a book? issues man, issues.hmmm, will he ever be published? a resounding no. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great 'how to' book
A good summary of many of the self-improvement books I have read over the past few years. The Power of Focus is more like a workbook with exercises at the end of each chapter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Self Help Book on the Market

5-0 out of 5 stars First Lady of the Healing Arts
Louise is the first lady of the healing arts and hers was one of the first book I ever saw on the subject. It totally changed the way I thought about healing and led to my writing my own book, some 12 years later.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!
This book was one of my first experiences with working with The Law of Attraction and the Power of Positivity.Though I first read it over ten years ago, I still use it and recommend it to clients regularly.I also recommend any of Louise's beautiful affirmation card decks... they are attractive reminders to keep thoughts high!
5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I need...
I have never been big on self-help books; many of them are too stuffy, or technical, or don't really relate to what I'm going through."You Can Heal Your Life" is different. It is easy to read, and well-written, and helps you see/realize/re-affirm that you are the master of your destiny, that only you can change your life, that you are loveable and perfect as you are - and best of all, the process is not "hard" - you just have to be willing to do the mental work. The book gives practical advise, it's non-judgemental, and it's real and true.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not his best work
I love Dyer's voice and thought this would be quite incredible so my expectations were high ~ my mistake. All is well until it comes to the sounds he is instructing the listener to chant and then his voice becomes the most annoying drone that distracts the meditation and thus defeats the purpose.Later he adds some affirmations that seem out of place and throws your focus off even further. It may have been helpful if he had included some music in the background to make the recording more relaxing and give the listener something else to hear besides Dyer breathing between chants.Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of his work and always will be.However, I'm a little surprised that this recording remains on the market rather than being re-recorded to bring the quality to a higher standard.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Cruisin' Meditation
I love this CD.I have always felt silling trying to meditate at home, but have been using this in the car during my commute to and from home. No, I am not zoning-out while driving!I just chant along with Wayne & find myself calmer and more centered when I arrive at my destination. It's a great way to "shed the workday" before you get home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Together with 'Thinkertoys'...dynamic duo...consider them among the best in the genre!
The first time I encountered 'Thinkertoys' it was actually the first edition released during the early 90's, when it was also about the time I began to explore the various options with regard to my mid-life transition. In fact, I had initially spotted an interesting review in the Entrepreneur magazine. 5-0 out of 5 stars A classic

5-0 out of 5 stars Provides a Wonderful, New Perspective
This second Conversations With God book is amazing!I found that it pushed me to the edge of my thoughts, ideas & comfort zones - providing me with a foundation from which to question myself about how I really thought the world was doing, and more personally, how I thought I was really doing. It also brought to the forefront our personal & collective responsibility in creating the "individual" lives we lead, as well as the way our societies, countries & world create - as what we create, we experience - that is our free will.
3-0 out of 5 stars Still have questions to be asked but some answered
This book takes off where the book one ended. The author is convinced that he is having a conversation with God. If you don't believe in God or are a fundamentalist Christian, don't read this book. If you read it thoroughly, you will begin to understand God better and know that he is loving, kind, compassionate, forgiving, etc. All those good things that we don't hear in an unforgiving, greedy, sex-obsessed world today. I was unsatisfied with God's answers on sexuality. I think God doesn't want sexuality to be exploited or misused by us but we do anyway. Sex without love is nothing more than something to do. Love with sex can be a beautiful thing between two people regardless of their gender. I don't think God cared about that as much as we do. He wants us to love each other not just physically but emotionally as well. THere are lot of relationships based purely on sexuality that when the sex isn't acted out, the relationship can't work together. If you can't hold a conversation with your partner, do you really think this person is the right one? We need to listen to God more. We need to stop thinking of ourselves and see the whole picture of the world around us. I'm glad that the book reinforces my belief that we never die and that we return over and over again to suffer in life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
"Conversations with God, Book 2" is a great, mind opening book. I learned a lot, and enjoyed reading it. The dialogue is interesting and beneficial for everyone. I loved the first book, and I love this one too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Perfect End to the CWG Trilogy
I have really enjoyed reading all of the books in the Conversations With God trilogy.I've found that they've led me to consider "new" possibilites, expand my thought processes, and ultimately to look at my life & the lives in others in a whole new light.
5-0 out of 5 stars God's Friend
God has told us that there are 2 emotions: Love and Fear. Those people that put love in their hearts will understand and accept what God has told us through these books. Those people that put fear in their hearts will continue to be afraid of change and find it easier to blame others for their decisions in the lives that they have created for themselves.

1-0 out of 5 stars A very shallow puddle
About 8 months ago, during a very bad "flu-experience", I had a great afternoon reading all the negative reviews on 'The Alchemist' and this little gem. And although I was warned, I just HAD to find out for myself (some stubborn people just never learn, do they): could this book really be as awful as these reviewers said it is? And the answer is YES.
4-0 out of 5 stars A quest that is as ancient as it is modern.
Coelho is a master of the words and he doesn't fail to show that even in this book. His storytelling is flowing and never overwhelming or boring.
5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
Coelho's writing can only be described as Genuis.Hes a natural and will certainly touch your heart, mind, and soul.He inspired and motivated me with every word that he has written throughout the years.Word in a review cannot begin to describe the writing of this brilliant man.All of his books are highly recommended. ... If you're investigating this book, chances are you can benefit greatly from the information. What harm can come from you feeling less shame in your life?None.
5-0 out of 5 stars HEALING that keeps giving...
I bought my edition of Bradshaw's "Healing the Shame that Binds You" in 1988, one year after my experience with The Caron Foundation's ACOA treatment program.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Starting Point for Recovery
From my own family experiences, I became numb to the world. This made the process of finding a solution difficult because I couldn't even find a starting point for recovery. This book was a fantastic source of enlightenment because it names, very specifically, the varying facets of shame and causes of depression. It helped me really put a finger on what I was wrestling with, and give me a "to-do" list for therapy.I don't think this book on its own will help you actually recover, but it definitely will give you a specific plan of action and greater understanding of how unhealthy behaviors perpetuate through generations.I believe talk therapy is the way to successful recovery because they can recognize unhealthy behaviors that you don't notice.Thankfully, professional therapists truly are a "safe place" to reveal secrets that tied you down.I'd recommend this book to people who felt numb like I did (and do), and need a way to regain some clarity. When you have the courage to face your darkest fears, you will realize it was worth a hundred times the pain in order to feel genuinely happy again. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars She Makes It Up As She Goes Along.....
I used to think the world of Sylvia Browne--until I started to read more widely about the paranormal. Now I can see how empty of content her books are. Whether its on paper or on television, Sylvia is obviously just spouting things off the top of her head--no validations or evidence needed.
4-0 out of 5 stars so far so good...
I didn't want to put the book down and i probably would have finished it but i had a newborn and a 3 year old wanting my attention.
5-0 out of 5 stars book was excellent
enjoyed it greatly. it works well as a reference book... or even as a book to flip to a random page and enjoy a new definition with Sylvia's twist put on it. referenced something she presented as a fact with another book of hers and found an inconsistancy... not sure if that was a mistake in editing or what but- this book was interesting if nothing else. if the fantastic interests you at all i think you'll find this book fascinating.
