5-0 out of 5 stars What the Bleep in book form
McTaggart brings together many of the scientific discoveries of the 20/21st century that don't fit neatly into the box, and drive the editors of peer reviewed journals to their Pepto Bismol. Quantum physicists around the world are embarrassing their colleagues with such suggestions that the quantum field, or zero point field, is a quantum soup that connects all of us, enabling shared thoughts, dreams, clairvoyance, remote viewing, dream influencing, mental influencing of random number generators and the potential of an untapped energy that science has only dreamed of.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book brings it all together
I suggest prerequisite readings to anyone who really wants to get the most out of this extremely well written book. You need to understand the basics of quantum mechanics. For that, first read Gary Zukav's masterpiece "The Dancing Wu Li Masters" followed by Fritov Capra's "The Tao of Physics."The latter covers the same basic principles but from a perspective that adds to overall understanding.Follow these with Amit Goswami's masterpiece, "Physics of the Soul."All three books are written for laypeople. You really need to understand quantum physics for yourself to believe it's incredible implications which McTaggert discusses so well.On the other hand, if you read "The Field" with no understanding of QP, you might not appreciate how very "real" are the amazing things discussed in this book.Castaneda fans will instantly realize that Carlos "knew" regardless of whether or not Don Juan was real.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Field:

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating
I must admit that once I picked this book up it was hard to put down. A very intriguing book that explores the history and role of psychedelics, primarily DMT. Strassman has excellent insight and I believe his research has produced a significant leap for further discussion and research into the field of psychadelics. A must read for anyone even remotely interested in the topic.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mind Candy, but with an Aftertaste
This book is a bit ponderous, to say the least - that's because I was interested in his clients' experiences and not the pedantic research crap (like the fact that they had to flush the IVs with saline). Lots of stuff in here begs the question, "Who Cares???" A better editor would have done this book wonders. Regarding the research, I find it highly disconcerting that EVERY ONE of his guinea pigs were huge into drugs. There was not a single person who was not a regular user of some kind of drug, and what's more, had done acid or 'shrooms hundreds of times. What would have been far more compelling is if he had done the test on people with a high level of spirituality but didn't require chemically altered states to achieve it. The book was poorly written and the research was questionable.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
This book is incredibly scientiic. It does not appear to be overly idealistic about the subject matter. it actually offers a very realistic sense of the nature of psychedeclics and the role they play in contemporary society. The book is mostly cold hard facts that are often not entirely optimistic, but invredibly relevant. The final chapters do provide some speculations that would be of interest to anyone who studies the nature of consciousness and the idea of quantum realities. Strassman does indeed lay some solid groundwork for some pretty outrageous ideas. He presents them in a way that clearly indicates that he is aware of the response that these speculations may evoke from a great portion the population. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Carl Sagan muses on the current state of scientific thought, whichoffers him marvelous opportunities to entertain us with his own childhoodexperiences, the newspaper morgues, UFO stories, and the assorted flotsam and jetsam of pseudoscience.Along the way he debunks alien abduction, faith-healing, and channeling; refutes the arguments that science destroys spirituality, and provides a "baloney detection kit" for thinking through political, social, religious, and other issues. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Shining a Much-Needed Light
This book is, by far, one of the best explications of the spirit of scientific inquiry I've ever encountered. Sagan's earnest respect for science and clear appreciation of the natural world shine through his clear prose. Although a large part of this book is dedicated to reconciling paranormal claims with the reality of a non-paranormal world, Sagan's attitude never comes across as overly forceful or belittling. While he proposes alternate explanations for such phenomena as alien abductions, ghosts, and psychics, he always does so via pointed questions rather than shouted conclusions. His questions force the reader to think for him or herself, whether they be believers in the supernatural or not.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sagan's 'Candle' needed now more than ever
Published just 10 years ago, not too long before his untimely death at the age of 62, Dr. Carl Sagan's "The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark" is a brilliant defense of science in the face of irrationality and superstition.
5-0 out of 5 stars The
This is hands down the best non-fiction book I have ever read. This book has guided my thinking and opened my eyes to how we as humans can easily delude ourselves.Carl Sagan was not only a great popularizer of science and scientific inquiry, he was a visionary with and his words and admonitions are prophetic as we look at the world around us today.

5-0 out of 5 stars avoid the other reviews
This is a great book( here's the point where I would check the other reviews this reviewer has written to get a sense of where I'm coming from); the author is careful to point out that of course this is all part of the mystery of Jesus and he makes a fascinating case. It's a book full of great photos and research. The problem is that Jesus as the myth hits too close to home for most people. at least we ( at this point) don't have the Inquisition of the middle ages around.

1-0 out of 5 stars I'm still wondering... what are the Jesus Papers?
The first chapter piqued my interest by describing an encounter of the author's with some Middle Eastern businessmen peddling old documents. However, after finishing the book, I am still wondering what this had to do with his story.
1-0 out of 5 stars Unsubstantiated hype!
"It must now be self-evident that there is a vast gulf between the Jesus of history and the Jesus of faith."This is Baigent's theme in "The Jesus Papers."But does he succeed?Does he provide evidence to prove his assertion, or even lead a careful reader to consider his claim probable? No.Not even close.

2-0 out of 5 stars Entertainment and nothing more
I probably would have never read this book had I not received it as a gift. However I am a fan of the occult and unexplained phenomenon, so I gave it a shot. The book is entertaining; if only for the fact that her assertions about things like crop circles, the pyramids, and Atlantis are outlandish and fanciful. Her research is morbidly flawed, she sites several websites, and never bothers to site any credible references. It's important to note that the book has no bibliography. Many of her conclusions are a result of information received from her spirit guide Francine, and it occurred to me many times while reading this book that perhaps Sylvia should take what Francine has to say with a grain of salt.
3-0 out of 5 stars Love Sylvia Browne but not this book
I have read many of her books and I have found them all very interestingand great readings. Most i would read in a few days time but this book did fit my exceptations and struggled with reading it.It was much slower then the rest of her other books.Although i found many parts very interesting and knowledgeable, it just was not the kind of book i expected. But it's okay she can't have 100% great book out of the 20 some odd ones she already has out...

4-0 out of 5 stars What I think about it...
I like that it's read by the author...I think it makes it that much better, but she doesn't read it word for word. So if you also have the book and try to match it up it doesn't work. She leaves paragraphs out in the auido and adds and changes words. I still like it though. It's interesting to hear her tell it. I think the concepts she brings up are extremely interesting as well. Even if you don't believe what she has to say...it's an interesting point of view. ... Read more

I read this book for the first time 14 1/2 years ago and was set free for the first time in my life. I would recommend this book to all those who feel that they can't live another day, want to give up, feel that there is no hope or just don't want to try any more. There is hope and that is in Jesus.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very well written!
I have read all of Rebecca's books and I highly recommend them. This book draws you into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and makes you aware of Satan's tactics. Her books reveal to the reader how deeply God loves all people and that all can be forgiven no matter what you have done.

Editorial Review

Looking back, John Edward now sees the early signs that he was destined to become an acclaimed psychic and medium. "There were times when I knew things I shouldn't have known," he writes. "Simple things like who was coming over, or who was on the phone." He knew events in family history that no one had told him about. He was inexplicably fascinated with television characters that possessed supernatural powers. He'd see auras around schoolteachers and hear voices that whispered true information in his mind. Eventually his gifts expanded into hearing the names of spirits "who'd gone to the other side." Finally, as a teenager Edward began to claim rather than question his psychic abilities and committed his life work to pursuing and learning about his gifts. Now that he has become a renowned medium (appearing on numerous talk shows, including Read more

Since most people cannot hear the conversations he has with the dead... it would be in his head (little joke). I like this guy, Mr. Edward has created other learning materials that I have used and learned from. He knows what he is talking about and demystifies the spiritual realm quite a bit. It is not over the top and easy to understand.

Really good book. There is no doubt John Edward has physic abilities and it was touching to hear of the experiences of some of his clients.

1-0 out of 5 stars I See Dead People...and Profit from the Living...
A perusal of this book reminds me of a UK television show on which James "The Amazing" Randi, pretending to be a "medium," brilliantly and devastingly showed just how easy it is to be fooled by those who claim to talk to our dead relatives for us.It seems that the need to believe, the craving to hang on and not let go, is powerful enough to bypass logic and rational thinking in our poor benighted species.I would urge anyone considering laying out their hard-earned money to this or other "mediums" to do a little research into the "cold reading" trick and how it works. There are many ways to deal with grief and loss that do not involve superstition, credulity or hefty amounts of cash. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book that has a few troubling components
This is an enlightening book.It describes the author's personal experience and his interpretation of his experience.Storm was an atheist prior to the experience, and became an avid, empassioned Christian minister consequent to the experience. Therefore, in order to account for such a dramatic transformation, the reader might naturally assume that his experience was based in truth and "reality."
5-0 out of 5 stars TEN STARS WOULD BE TOO FEW
We are all moving toward death. The question is: What is the state of our soul? And, according to that state, what sort of reception will we receive as we make the passage from our earthly existence to a new world? If you think "there's probably nothing at all," think again. For decades now Kerlian photography at UCLA has been capturing the flight of the soul from the body at death. And weighing a person just before and just after death results in a difference of something like 38 grams--the soul even has weight! Don't miss the opportunity of a lifetime to read of one man's riveting experience of meeting demons, angels, and Jesus, and then be sent back to tell us what he saw, heard, and felt. Howard Storm, thank you for the gift of My Descent into Death. For those of you who are allergic to "being born again" or entrenched in your atheism, agnosticism or indifference, please pick up the book, open up your soul, and go through it again. This is your passage to the life you were meant to live--with God, our Father, with Jesus our Redeemer, and with the Holy Spirit, the very breath of God.

5-0 out of 5 stars God Loves You As You Are!
Howard Storm writes an honest and beautifully revealing account of his experiences after his near death episode. He reveals a God infinitely more complex, holy, and loving than the one taught to us in Sunday school. Our spiritual growth continues after death. Life here on earth is solely to do God's will and learn to love God and each other as Christ showed us in the Bible. What happens when we die? Is your religion the 'right' one? Does hell relly exist? Are there other worlds in the universe? These and many more questions are answered in Dr. Storms' riveting account. You won't put it down and then you'll read it again. A great gift to others on the search for truth. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY TOUCHING!
I believe in psychics as I have psychic dreams of what I am going to see or hear the next day myself. The one story that got me was the story of the Dad astronaut and the child waving good-bye as he blasted off into space. I won't give out anymore details, but buy it and see for yourself. It was tear jerking. All of his books are worth reading, even though this is my first one and his audio CDs are worth getting too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Big Growth for John & the Readers
After I recently read After Life, I am immensely moved by the last chapter Papa, Can You Hear Me?.It must have taken John a lot of courage to open up and tell a true story about himself and his father.

John Edward cuts right to the heart of skeptics, believers, and what and how he hears from the other side.I am a huge fan, but was particularly struck by John's behind the scenes look at his own life and the lives around him as the other side makes it's case.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Inspiration to my Art Students!
Last year I used this book as a resource for a special high school art unit that I developed entitled "Sacred Circles."In addition to learning about circular artwork in various cultures and world religions, students used Judith's beautiful illustrations and step by step guides to create mandalas of their own. (...) This is a book that I still have available in my classroom and students continue to refer to it (independently!) to advance their drawing techniques.SO glad I bought this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Radiantly Inspiring
The beauty of the mandalas pictured in the book intimidated me because ithad been so many years since I'd created any art.I didn't think I coulddo it.But I did it and I'm extremely grateful to Judith Cornell forwriting this book.Working on the exercises at home, alone, is not thesame experience as it would be in a group. The group can offer a creativesupport level that helps each individual surpass previous achievements. However, I'm so happy with the mandalas I created as a result of theseexercises that I've put each one up on the wall. And, even more important,I've continued to draw.No more creative blocks for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly AWE inspiring!
Mandala: Luminous Symbols for Healing, by Judith Cornell, is absolutelythe most incredibly beautiful book I've ever held in my hands.Holding andlooking at it, even before reading, is like a sacred experience. Is it thebeauty of the lay-out and illustrations? The very real spiritual impact ofthe mandalas presented, both historical and contemporary?A moment ofhealing even in the first moment's gasp of awe while browsing its pages? One even begins to caress its binding. One of my favorite activities nowis to present it to friends and watch their faces--their eyes pop open, their jaws drop in amazement--and hear the quick intake of breath as itscolor begins to radiate into their awareness.Beyond the first impression, reading took me to awesome depths and insights regarding ultimate reality, syntheses I'd previously long puzzled.Don't miss this dazzling yet holyexperience.Look, read, and practice the simple yet brilliantart-as-at-one-ment exercises for the depth of your life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect sight---your birthright!
'Relearning to See' is the largest and most comprehensive book ever written on the Bates Method of Natural Eyesight Improvement Re-Education. The author has taught Natural Eyesight Improvement and Teacher Training classes since 1983. He has recently relocated from San Francisco to the Natural Vision Center in Ashland, Oregon. RTS contains the pioneering work of ophthalmologist William H. Bates, MD. This educational program is *not* about eye exercises---a common misconception of the Bates Method. The most important contribution of RTS is that it concisely describes the 3 principles and 3 habits of natural vision. Yet each principle and habit is thoroughly explained, since all of them are necessary for normal, clear sight. RTS is a 521-page tome containing 60 color plates, over 150 illustrations and eye charts, (not a small booklet like most other books written on this topic), and contains information on how to improve nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, strabismus (e.g. crossed-eye), amblyopia (lazy-eye), and many other vision problems. Even many serious eye problems have improved with this educational program. RTS covers reading, driving, using a computer, in nighttime vision, flying, light tolerance, artificial lighting and many other topics. Glasses are an artificial crutch, and contact lenses are foreign objects. Both tend to reinforce strained vision habits and make your eyesight worse. RTS educates you about lenses and prescriptions so you can go to your eye doctor and get legal, safe, reduced-power glasses while you are improving your eyesight. One of the most interesting and valuable chapters is called 'Brains and Vision,' where the author presents a larger perspective on the Bates Method using the modern right brain/left brain model. Bates stated that vision is primarily mental. The sections on left-brain myopes versus right-brain farsights are quite revealing. There are many mental and vision quality benefits to improving eyesight naturally, including memory, concentration, imagination, creativity, color perception, depth perception, contrast and texture awareness. While Dr. Bates did make some errors, his *solutions* of re-establishing correct vision habits are flawless---because they are created by nature. Read Chapter 1, Chapters 2-4 if you have been wearing glasses or contacts; then jump to Chapters 9+ and get started with natural vision principles and habits.

Fantastic book! I have been wearing glasses since 1970, but since reading this book and practicing the principles explained within it, I doubt I will have to continue wearing glasses much longer. After only one month, I have noticed a definite improvement in my eyesight -- glasses which were once too weak for me are now almost too strong!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing non-allopathic approach to healing vision
I tried this for 9 days while on vacation and I was amazed by the results. All of the bad vision habits that Dr. William H. Bates discovered I had. After a few days practice, I was having "flashes" of perfect vision discussed in the book. I was seeing details like leaves on trees rather than a big amorphous blob of green.

this was a gift for a friend who had just lost a sister.
4-0 out of 5 stars Necessary Losses
This well-written book is definitely worth reading. It offers comfort and guidance to all of us on our travel through the different stages of our life-cycle.Although not foolishly optimistic, the book is up-beat and even manages to interpret Freud in an affirmative light.Although written in the eighties, the work of the analyst-author is still relevant.I've given this book to friends as a gift.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Good Beginning
This is a good book for beginners, those needing a refresher course or for those curious folk who just wonder what witchcraft is about. It is a convinient compilation of several of the Farrar's text that help paint a vivid picture of the craft. Having said that, the reader needs to keep in mind that since this book was originally written some attitudes and ideas have changed. Also, the writting styles of both Janet and Stewart differ greatly and sometimes Stewart's ideas can get away from him. The Farrar's are very open, but this book does contain some blinds naturally, though nothing harmful or that couldn't be remedied through one's own further study.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Wiches Bible
This book contains a lot of useful information about Wicca and many rituals and ceremonies. It is based on the Gardnerian Tradition, but there is useful information for all Wiccans. This book is not really for beginners, but it is worth having in your collection of books. I would recommend this book, if you are in need of a good reference book for ceremonies and rituals, which it does include.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Service
My book was shipped in excellent timing. There was no long delay between the order and receiving which was very impressive. The company made sure that the book was in it's original wrapping so the cover and stuff did not get damaged.

5-0 out of 5 stars voyager tarot deck
I call myself a visionary because of this deck.
5-0 out of 5 stars tarot for the multidimensional traveler
This a great tool for self reflection. The cards are beautiful and deeply thought out, combining imagery from many spiritual paths in a synthesis that feels natural and epansive. I've had a deck for more than ten years and it continues to surprise and inspire me. I highly recommend this deck and the guide that it comes with.

3-0 out of 5 stars Definitive New Age Tarot
This was one of the first Tarot decks I purchased in 1987. At the time it was cutting edge with my taste. Very contempory in its presentation. I was simultaneously studying the Crowley-Thoth deck that Mr. Wanless wrote a great workbook for. His Voyager Tarot brought the Tarot into the modern age for myself and many others. This was the deck I began using to read for others.
