5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Bible That Actually Makes Sense.
Even before I bought The Satanic Bible I've always favored the Satanic religion the most because it makes the most sense, instead of denying you of your natural needs, it embraces them. It doesn't discriminate again anyone whether you're white, black, asian, European, gay, straight, bisexual or whatever, it'll except you no matter what. The Bible was a big help to answer a few questions I had about the religion and I'm not even half way through it yet and it's gotten me to respect the religion a lot more then I already did. If you only think Satanism is whatever the christians cowardly discribe it to be or if you're just plain courious then you should buy it and read it. If you don't like it after you try it then you don't have to keep it so it won't hurt anyone. There's a million things in the first few chapters that makes it a great bible that actually makes sense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Geniuos

1-0 out of 5 stars Tragic, but possibly therapeutical prose
I've no problem beleiveing that the author was the victim of some horrendous abuse.
2-0 out of 5 stars Project Monarch: The Making of a Modern Myth?
Cathy O'Brien is the alleged "Project Monarch" mind control survivor, co-author Mark Phillips, he says in the foreword, "was able to liberate [Ms O'Brien and her daughter] from the invisible grip of this US government secret weapon of control." An early reference to their case is in the 2nd edition (1994) of Operation Mind Control. Walter Bowart summarises this book in chapter 9, "The Story of O", referring throughout to Ms O'Brien as "O". He states, " Due to the volatile nature of the information contained in her story, I am withholding this victim's identity." Obviously then he thought there was some validity to their case. As for Mr Phillips, Bowart in chapter 11 of OMC describes him as a "respected if controversial figure among researchers" and adds "we can do no harm in repeating the information he offers, especially since it's been confirmed by others." OK. But, one area of curiosity is exactly where the term "Project Monarch" comes from. Nowhere in Trance Formation of America is this answered. So did Phillips just make it up?

5-0 out of 5 stars He Came to Set the Captives Free
I read this book for the first time 14 1/2 years ago and was set free for the first time in my life. I would recommend this book to all those who feel that they can't live another day, want to give up, feel that there is no hope or just don't want to try any more. There is hope and that is in Jesus.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very well written!
I have read all of Rebecca's books and I highly recommend them. This book draws you into a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and makes you aware of Satan's tactics. Her books reveal to the reader how deeply God loves all people and that all can be forgiven no matter what you have done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still digesting everything.
At first, when I skimmed through this, I was not exactly over-impressed. On a second reading, however, I found myself thinking differently. There's a line from a song that goes "You know evil is an exact science, being carefully and correctly wrong." I think this book is an excellent example of that statement. There are bits and pieces and parts that may not be "right", but...as a whole...it's all "exactly correct". No matter how you feel about magic (or magick, or maaijeyckie or however you want to speel it...) this book will definitely make an impression on you.

2-0 out of 5 stars She'll Put A Spell On You!
When it comes to looking for titles on catching and stringing along men one of the phrases women probably will not type into the search engine is 'The Satanic Witch' or a variation thereof. The phrase evokes images of Lucifer, hell and brimstone and is a good bit confusing for common folk. Looked at this way - and given the inverted pentagram and the runes on the cover how else would the untrained eye perceive this book? - the title is confusing or misleading. Those familiar with Anton LaVey's Satanism and the concepts put forth in The Satanic Bible may be more understanding.

3-0 out of 5 stars For something to burn away your reading hours with
A book that documents the so-called Satanic Culture of the previous century from the middle ages to the present trendy days of the "modern" era, LUCIFER RISING is a title that is hauled from a movie written and directed by famed warlock and Alister Crowley follower Kenneth Anger, who've the reputation as the one commisioned for hollywood's official consultant regarding the occult, and is said to be the very real founder of the group known as the Church of Satan, and that its said founder Anton LaVae is nothing more but a hired hand for Anger to use as his front act spokesperson for the said group.
4-0 out of 5 stars My opinion
I enjoyed the book a lot but I preferred it being a little more non biased, information does come best from the source and it was very informative...however the fact that it was all coming from a self proclaimed Satanist was a bit appalling simply because I want to read facts not propaganda it's still a great read. I don't choose sides because truth doesn't have a side...Lords of Chaos is a very good book to accompany this one as well as raising hell and a field guide to demons...anything by Richard Cavendish is also a good read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fathers of Black Metal
Written by Church of Satan Priest Gavin Baddeley, a book of this kind is easily in the ranks with 'Satan Wants You' by Arthur Lyons, as the credits & influences The Church of Satan has had on society & modern culture is fully recognized, thereby giving the Devil His due.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dangerous fiction
I'm astounded that this appalling and dangerous book is still in print; the publishers should be ashamed. This piece of fiction was dredged out of the mind of a disturbed young woman by her psychiatrist. Dr Pazder encouraged Michelle to believe her fantasies, thus damaging a disturbed person even more.
4-0 out of 5 stars This book scared the HELL out of me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insightful, Thougt provoking, and Fascinating
Many personal experiences told by former cult members are written in a simplistic fashion. They describe their life in the cult as a living Hell and express gratitude that they are out, but they do not describe their struggles, their ambivalences and their confusion.Their stories are interesting from the point of view of learning about the beliefs of the cult, but they do not offer insight into the human condition. This book does offer those insights. Most of the narrative is written by Ms. Burchard, who was innocently unwary of a manipulative sociopathic cult leader who could seduce people, exploit them, and discard them with no sense of the fact that he was destroying people's lives. Ms. Burchard's explanation of her entry into the cult, her life within it, and her subsequent leave taking is honest, self-revealing and complex.Outsiders can easily see that the group members' beliefs are bizarre and absurd.Ms. Burchard helps us to comprehend how an intelligent, insightful and well read individual could be manipulated into accepting those beliefs. Her long struggle to leave and her initial reluctance to give up those beliefs, even after she knew they were false, help us to understand the complexity of mind control and manipulation. Ms. Carlone's struggle was not to come to grips with the truth or falsity of the leader's claims. She was not caught up in the cult leader's web and could clearly see the absurdity of the group's beliefs. Her problem was how to convey that insight to Ms. Burchard without alienating her.Ms. Carlone's dilemma is that which is faced every day by family members and friends of cult members. Her consistent, loving approach to helping her friend realize that she was in a destructive situation is a blueprint that others can learn from and emulate. This book is not about dangerous minds still in dark places. It is about normal human beings caught up in a hurricane of manipulation and exploitation.Any of us, under the proper set of circumstances, could get caught in a cult. This book helps us to understand how that could happen. It is insightful and thought-provoking.The fact that it is also fascinating is a tribute to the story-telling skills of the authors.

5-0 out of 5 stars A comment to "Dangerous Minds still in dark places"
First of all, this is not a self help book. It is an autobiographical account of a woman who was trapped for 19 years in a therapy cult. This book is not "slim on facts"; it is filled with facts - even complicated and painful emotional issues are described objectively. I found the authors passionate in their delivery. They were eloquent and successful in conveying to the reader the covert manipulations, hidden agendas and faulty logic of the cult leader. Contrary to your assertion, the co-author was never involved in the group's activities, she helped her escape. I found myself feeling "rage at injustice" for the woman who was trapped and cheered every time she broke another bar of the jail he created for her. This book shows a woman's courage to climb out of an emotional hell-hole by confronting every contradiction to her doctrine. Being sexually exploited, losing over $200,000.00 to a lie and throwing away all of those years would make anyone angry, however, I didn't feel any attitudes of revenge coming from the authors. Anger is a normal stage that a victim passes through before they let it go. The tone of your review has shown people who understand how ignorant and compassionless you really are.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dangerous minds still in dark places
Having read the book and met with the author's, I found the book slim on facts and overall lacking merit in self help. Whereas, I am sure they were part of a group that should be investigated, the authors are as extreme. Self help and improvement books take a solid and inner tone of problem recognition and ways moving from dark problem places to everyday life. Both the authors and the book think they have pin pointed a problem and have moved into the mainstream. In point of fact, both the book and authors are still in a very dark place and are seeking revenge more then anything else. ... Read more

Much to my surprise, this is a wonderful and witty history of not only Western anti-morality philosophies but also of British politics in the mid-nineteenth century.Ashe is a master at understatement, dry humor, and clear writing, making this a great and important read if you want to understand the underpinnings of British upper class society and politics in the nineteenth century (as well as some of the nasty pasttimes of some of that era's peers).I was pleasantly surprised that the book did not dwell on salacious details of the libertine "clubs" discussed, but gave just enough description for the reader to get the gist of what was going on and why.Ashe also deserves praise for making quite plain which supposed "facts" are (or were) rumors, disinformation, lies, or, unfortunately, truth.Clearly, Ashe spent much time and effort researching this subject matter;it plainly shows.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book but needs to be more indepth
Me being a child of the 80's I remember watching the TV movie about it....growing up in a Catholic School made it even worse.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Real Persecutors
In the Margaret Kelly Michaels case, if you read the judicial evaluations carefully you can see clearly who the real perpetrators are: not Kelly at all, but the teams of prosecutors and "experts" who coerced the children into telling them exactly what they wanted to hear to whip up public hysteria. By the time the Superior and Supreme Court justices caught up with these misguided prosecuting "adults", Kelly's life as an actress and writer had been ruined, five years of her life had vanished into unjust imprisonment, and the lives of her students had been damaged for a very long time by those "adults" who forced them to dance to a prejudiced prosecution tune having nothing to do with the facts. These are the real tragedies, and they are far from over.

5-0 out of 5 stars On Reviews of Skeptical Books
Skeptical books?I mean books like this one that question our culture's holiest beliefs - in the continuing and ever-worsening oppression of victimized classes, the coming environmental doom etc. Most of the reviews tend to be positive; after all, interested persons have purchased the book or are shopping for the book.Their point of view is already formed. Then there are the other reviews - usually giving no stars, usually short and scabrous: "This book is part of a conspiracy to trivialize a very real problem. This book has been discredited. It has shoddy research etc.""Discredited" is a great word - applied not to shoddy research but to research that challenges our sacred beliefs.

5-0 out of 5 stars How the world - and man's postern pore - was formed
I'm not kidding - you'll learn both in the first 20 pages (apparently big brother has difficulty with anatomical nomenclature, so hence "postern pore" - get you to your OED). The Yezidim (Kurds, in the main - from Russia to Iraq) are worshippers of Yezid, also known, I think as Malik Ta'us - who, as a consultant to Adam in the garden, got identified somewhere along the line by us outsiders (Christians, Jews, Muslims)as the devil. There are many curious facets to this faith - for instance, they can't eat lettuce because the Kurdish word for lettuce sounds too much like one of their prophetesses. Certain words that sound too much like holy figures cannot be pronounced; a husband must bean his new bride with a small rock to "symbolically" let her know that she is under his authority (then a loaf of bread is broken over her head to let her know she must aid the poor); if a man steals his neighbor's wife, he cannot ask for a dowry. This is not a book that will appeal to "Satanists" - the Yezidim are different, but not in so mannered a way.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Reality of Satanism.
_Lure of the Sinister:The Unnatural History of Satanism_ by Gareth J. Medway is a fascinating history of the source of evil in those individuals who have opted to sell their soul to and worship the Dark Lord.Unfortunately, the book is marred severely by the author's skepticism regarding the reality of Satan worship. While many cases of Satanism have no doubt been exaggerated for political gain, there remains the distinct possibility of real live Satanists, often occupying high places in society, engaging in ghastly deeds and defying the Christian God.The author, who is a pagan, seems to feel that the reality of Satanism is inimical to his religious persuasion; however, this is not the actual case.

Gareth J. Medway's "Lure of the Sinister"is a well written investigation of historical and modern Satanism, focusing on the myths of Satanic Ritual Abuse and the wide-spread Satanic Panic of the 80s, when many people, deluded by sensationalist books and TV talk shows were lead to believe that an international Satanic conspiracy was working to undermine church and state.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide for Satanic Holidays
Why hasn't anyone written a book like this before? This is an excellent guide for those wishing to celebrate the Satanic calendar with symbolism and ritual. This book contains all of the invocations and techniques to keep your group active all year round. I would recommend this to all covens or grottos as well as the solitary individual. ... Read more
