5-0 out of 5 stars The Best News Yet or a Hoax?
This book is either the best news you've ever heard or it's total B.S.The authors' premise is that many people have been contacted by deceased loved-ones through various means; for instance, by visions of them, by hearing their voices, while the experiencers are awake, while asleep, etc.But the subjects have been reluctant to speak about them for fear of being deemed crazy.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book!
I have read several books on Near Death Experiences, and I came across this book while reading "Lessons From The Light."This is an excellent book.It is filled with so many great accounts of After Death Communications. If you have ever been interested in ADCs, then you need to read this....it will really make you stop and think. It helps you to realize that some things aren't simply "dreams" but actual ADCs!!I have had one, and it made me excited to learn that so many others have had the same experience.
5-0 out of 5 stars Forever Grateful.
My 22 year old son past away unexpectedly, leaving his 5 month old daughter. My pain was so unbearable, I just wanted to die. Reading this book three weeks after his death gave me comfort, strength, understanding and hope to survive such a horrible loss. I am forever grateful to this book for helping me in my deepest pain. This book has helped me to gain such strength to live again. I could not have done it without reading "Hello from Heaven". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ****An Excellent Eye Opener!!!****
James' exploration into early psychic phenomenon investigation is fascinating, and Blum nails his research, his life, and his discoveries in a well written, informative, entertaining fashion. An excellent book, and a must read for anyone even remotely interested in the possibilities of life after death.
5-0 out of 5 stars The History of a Quest
An excellent, insightful and poetic book that provides historical insights into the founding and early years of both the Psychical Research Society in the UK and its American counter-part.Moreover it's a biographical study focusing on William James as the personal lens by which to view the lives and dedication of the initial founders of these organizations and the pioneering work they began. The historical/biographical efforts along these lines has been sorely needed for sometime.Nothing in contemporary parapsychological literature quite compares to Ms. Blum's work.
5-0 out of 5 stars ***** Let The Truth Be Known ... Finally! *****
No one that reads this book, I must assume initially, will ever be as happy as I am for finding this text, thanks to the review of Michael E. Tymn.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spook Is Superb Science
If Woody Allen were to write a science book, this would be it.Mary Roach utilizes her enormous wit to make her sometimes highly technical investigations fascinating and fun.She admits to being a skeptic, but suspends disbelief as she investigates the supernatural world. She is enormously fair. She readily admits that the skeptics may be right "but they are no fun to go to the graveyard with."So she maintains that spirit of wonder as she exacts the high standard of proof that science demands. If you are looking for validation that ghosts, without a doubt, are watching you sleep, she will not provide that certainty. But she will tell you about the sometimes ingenius ways that spiritualists and paranormal specialists are going about trying to prove it.So her book is somewhat like Lewis Thomas' NOTES OF A BIOLOGY WATCHER in that you get a layman's education on how the soul has been searched for.You get Woody Allen's wit and Carl Sagan's concern for unbiased evidence as you travel through this fascinating culture of afterlife specialists who just may, in the end, be privy to dimensions the rest of us cannot see.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring - Avoid this Book!
I love ghost stories and stories of the 'beyond' and all that those categories entail. That said, I hate this book.Mary Roach has the authorial voice of a 12 year old.I read the first chapter thinking, 'wow, this book might as well have been edited by a middle school yearbook writer.'There are a plethora of books on the market dealing with this subject matter.Pick any of them.Leave Mary Roach on the bookshelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars First Sylvia Browne book... and not the last.
I found this book exteremely interesting. I have always been a believer and this book confirms all my beliefs. I think Sylvia Browne is a very gifted women. With her gift she goes above and beyond to help "stuck" ghosts go Home. I plan to read more of her books in the future. I feel like her books give me a better understanding of the unexplained. I hunger for knowledge. This book is packed with stories and information from one of the most gifted psychics around. Highly recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Read by Sylvia
If you are like me, you love to HEAR Sylvia's voice and it is your main reason for getting her AUDIO books. The information in this book is 5 star, but unless you are blind, you might as well read the book because this is NOT narrated by Sylvia and lacks all the nuances of her wit and vocal style. Many of the reviewers here seem to have copied their reviews from the book to the CD or perhaps Amazon did so and that is why they don't mention this drawback.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just in time to set the mood for Halloween...
If Halloween is one of your favorite 'holidays' and you like being spooked and scared, then this book would be a great find for you. It's a compilation of eerie stories, just enough to give you goosebumps.Remember to keep the lights on!

5-0 out of 5 stars Scary Enough to Keep You Awake at Night...
And that's the truth. When I bought this book at Barnes and Noble last Friday (along with Conan: The Ultimate Guide to the World's Most Savage Barbarian), I got spooked when I first read it by myself. There is a wealth of information regarding the ghosts that haunt us from beyond, plus a vampire legend and serial killer legends. This is a great book, and it now sits on my closet shelf, along with all my other frequently-read books. I recommend it for anyone who has an interests in hauntings or spirits of the dead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't wait to get to the other side
i bought this book for myself and couldn't put it down. Found myself crying with the absolute joy of what we can expect. then i proceeded to buy 3 more copies for family members. no one will be sorry about buying this book. I lost a beloved niece by suicide in 1986 and often wondered what would happen to her after death. This book makes me believe that she's waiting for me, along with my beloved dog Charlie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reasoned approach
This book is one of the few on the subject that actually takes a reasoned and scientifically valid approach. There is none of the gee whiz factor here---just many years of study.

5-0 out of 5 stars Visits from the other side
Paranormal phenomena, such as survival of bodily death, can be difficult to swallow without personal experience. The very mention of such personal experiences in polite conversation is often met with suspicion.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good true ghost story
If you have read many books about true ghost stories, you will find that few of them are very exciting, and this one will definitely not keep you on the edge of your seat. To really be interested in a book like this, you need to be interested in the actual experience of living in a haunted house and not in being scared by supernatural events as you would be with a novel. Books like these are written by novice writers, so the style is not all that good either.
3-0 out of 5 stars Is It This True?!!!!!
Dorah Williams tells the story of her and her family who moved into this haunted Victorian style house. For no reason at all on this snow packed winter day the Williams family went for a drive. They saw an open house sign and thought it would be fun to look, knowing that they were happy where they were. But this house seemed to call out to Dorah and her and her family and they decided to take it. Months later, when things start to happen in the William's new Victorian style home, Dorah's daughter Kammie tries to tell her that there's a girl in her room and she's waving to her in the window. Dorah doesn't think much of it. That's not the only thing, their dog Piper, who was a cocker spaniel that loved to fallow them around the house, absolutely refused to go on the second floor. They start to hear footsteps in the hallway and on the stairs. They have a light in the hallway that keeps flickering on and off. They try everything from changing the bulb to having the electricity checked. The ghosts give them a present of a beautiful rose bush in their yard that even gives them one blooming rose on Christmas morning.

4-0 out of 5 stars classic
this is a classic "why i did this book". but worth the price to see.. if you get "why he did it"

3-0 out of 5 stars 2nd Nonfiction book-a real "review" of the first and then some.
John Edward's second nonfiction book is in part a review of a significant amount of material in the first book, "One Last Time". It refers back to information in the first book and in some instances provides more information. This book basically follows the birth of the TV show "Crossing Over", hence the title. I guess the real downer is that the show is not as available, if at all, now.

1-0 out of 5 stars House of BS and Poppycock
This is the worst book of this genre I have ever read. Plus her experiences absolutly are not congruent to what occurs in hauntings. I think this lady was lying big time! She mentions burning sage in her home. Sage must be code for what type of drugs she was using. I laughed out loud when he said she astral projected to pet the ghost of a dead cat through her window, Geez. Pass on this unless you are looking for a good laugh.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok book, could have been better
I was anticipating reading this book, but when I got it and started reading, I realized the book needed a lot editing.Ms. Wilder did jump all over the place and didn't explain some relationships very well. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but Ms. Wilder seemed to be dabbling in a lot of strange things and I wonder if some of this was made up or she was wishing too hard for a ghost????I wish Ms. Wilder would have included pictures of the house, rather than just floor plan drawings.Anyway, decent book, but not great!

I can be honest and tell you that I could put this book down and walk away from it...but that was only because I HAD to!The questions that Jeff asked and the information that he was able to find out was so very detailed, that I often felt that I was sitting right there talking to the person as well.I would get so involved in the story that a little noise from the room would send shivers down my spine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Frightening
I am a fan of Frances Kermeen. Her books are always entertaining and fact filled. She is thorough with her research, does her homework and knows her stuff. When I planned a recent trip to the Myrtles I asked several history and paranormal enthusiasts who was an expert on the hauntings and history of the old Myrtles plantation. I was told over and over that it was Frances Kermeen. I bought the book, took the trip to the Myrtles AND read the book afterwards. The author is right on!This place is very very haunted.
5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT
This is probably one of the best I have read.Frances Kermeen is an excellent writer, and I hated for this book to end. I read this book so fast because I could not put it down.I cannot recommend this book enough.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Little Disappointing toa LA Native
Kermeen's account of her exerpeinces at the Myrtles, at times, was truly frightening.I suppose probably in part to reading this while alone, before retiring for the night. However, I have to admit I was disappointed, overall, in the book.I am a native of Louisiana and have visited the Myrtles on several occassions.I was hoping for historical information to validate the supposed ghosts that haunt the plantation, especially since Kermeen attests to having avidly researched the home's history.Little of this is detailed in the novel. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The very best book on the subject
I have an interest in haunted houses, so I read as many "true" accounts as I can get my hands on. I constantly check amazon for recent publications on the subject. Most of what I read is trash; either it strikes me as completely made-up, or the poor writing detracts from the story, or both. **Elaine Mercado's book is the BEST I've read on the subject of hauntings. Elaine Mercado is a very intelligent, scientific (she is a a nurse), grounded person. At first took the hauntings with a grain of salt, as any of us would. But as the haunting intensified, she had to accept it for what it was, i.e., a supernatural occurence. **This book is beautifully written. The narrator is so grounded in reality that it makes these other-worldly occurences seem all the more creepy. I highly recommend this book. It is definitely the best of its genre. I have read it many times. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

5-0 out of 5 stars My First Haunted Book
I bought this book with the hope of learning more about hauntings. I'm so glad I chose this book as my first. It's a fantastic book that flows very well. I'd love to find more like this one! You should buy your copy today!

4-0 out of 5 stars New York Ghosts
I think you have to appreciate what Elaine did with this book. She often told the reader that she wasn't a great writer and therefore all readers should take her non-fiction, true-life saga for what it's worth and leave her and her non-existant editor alone.

I bought this book for research for a novel, and am not overly impressed with it.She seems to believe just about everything she is handed, with a lot of "imagine if...!" type of space wasting speculation, not terribly interesting.Additionally, the writing reflects this breathless viewpoint and is over the top with a lot of exclamation points. She could have used an editor to tone down much of this bad writing, which only detracts from an already weak starting point. Some of the stories were interesting but much of what is in here takes rather a stretch to believe a supernatural influence, and ultimately I didn't find it terribly convincing.

Ms. Rule does it again. She clearly has found her calling.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tops!
Leslie Rule has a way with a spooky tale. She probably comes by this naturally since her mother is Ann Rule, the best true crime writer in the field.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rule Number Three
Leslie Rule's first book of ghostly tales was an excellent work especially for a first time author of ghost tales. Her second book was surprisingly even better than the first with a marked improvement in both content and style. As I have stated in previous reviews of her books it is obvious that Leslie has inherited the superb writing abilities of her mother Ann Rule. In this her latest book she even moves close to the territory that her true crime-writing mother covers so well by looking into hauntings caused by murder. An investigation that I would say is long overdue.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Accounts of Hauntings
This book literally had me enthralled from the foreword, by Ann Rule, the author's mother, until the VERY LAST page. The true stories of hauntings are so real, so intimate, that you almost feel as if you are also becoming a witness to the victim's plight. In this way, the book not only becomes a masterful literary piece, but a cathartic tribute to those poor souls who left this world with unfinished business. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Oh, but it IS creepy!
I have to say that I really enjoyed this title. A bit short, yes, but quality writing. And for me, it's more about quality than quantity. I'd rather have a concise book that is interesting and well-written than a Bible-sized book that's stuffed with poor writing and dry information stripped from some internet site.
3-0 out of 5 stars Average but entertaining
No one need worry about reading this book alone in the middle of a stormy night. This is an average but entertaining book, and nothing much beyond a "creepy feeling" occurs in it.Unlike the macabre stories of a King or a Staub where a bump in the night is sure to leave you hiding under the bedcovers or calling your best friend for the reassuring sound of a familiar voice, this book is a collection of the strange events that most of us have had in the course of our lives. There is probably no one who hasn't had some sort of run-in with the unexplainable, something that reminds one of the familiar tales told around the camp fire on family outings or scout jamborees. Most of them are of strange sounds at unusual times of day, doors that open when they shouldn't be able to, or lights that go on or off without the assistance of a human hand.It is primarily this simple type of story that rings as true and strikes a familiar tone.An interesting book and one that will reassure the reader that they aren't "the only one" to have such experiences.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great easy read whether you believe or not.
I am pretty agnostic as to the existence of ghosts, but I enjoy reading people's accounts of encounters. This book is a very easy read.It is no literary masterpiece--it reads more like an unedited diary of other people's oral histories--but it is entertaining.I like to read one or two of the stories at a time as a nice, brief break. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Hrmm
I can't say this book is great, as I don't know much about voodoo... however it was comical if anything. You can tell the book isn't supposed to be too serious... it is quite short and I think it's more for laughs, especially since it comes with a cheap, mass-produced, voodoo doll.
1-0 out of 5 stars Just goes to show you that there is still a sucker born every minute...
..and they are apparently buying this joke of a book. How this book managed to get 4 stars is a mystery unless you look at the other items viewed with it such as "voodoo kits" and other sensationalized , glossy rip offs playing on the fear and awe the Vodou religion brings with it to the uneducated gawker.
3-0 out of 5 stars A little of voodoo
I was expecting more about this book but is some desapointing because it has only a few spells and the 80% of these aren't authentic voodoo spells(like the buckeye 90% are not original spells from the author like the love spell with a poppet is from ANNA RIVA'S voodoo book this book don't show the real voodoo spells with the poppet(and nails) don't show the work with the "veves" and the loas invocations but the book has histories about pacts with the devil legend like the rabbit. But not A real voodoo, voudou or vadou spells.I know some real voodoo priestes and I know the voodoo spell whe I see it. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars more of same
I have enjoyed this authors other books, but this one is repetative and the authors evaluation of the children she writes about is less than professional.I would not recomend this book to parents with young children with behavior problems. There are reasons other than the ones given for childhood problems. It is not fair to restrict ones views with the opinions in the book

5-0 out of 5 stars There certainly are Indigo Children
I believe in the overall theory of this book. For those who have nothing good to say of the book, (OK, your opinion) However, being the parent of 2 very special children, I know first hand that this is real and not some result of bad parenting or "lack of medication"! Wow, some people really do toss stones without walking in the shoes. As for chakras and other Metaphysical beliefs... Perhaps it really is REAL... Perhaps some people will never believe... Perhaps some people will go on forever casting stones at others without knowing at all what they are really talking about... Perhaps someday, they will know... Perhaps in a next life there Karma will be... to Know, to feel, to cry, to hurt... and to finally see where thier heart should have been all along.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Sad
What's very sad is not only are there children out there who believe that they are some how Xtra special saviors of the universe but seemigly educated adults who haven't moved past the fairy tales of Alice in Wonderland.Remember, we are asked to sniff the flowers but not to eat them.Adults who engage in channeling, speak of chakras, describe past lives and fret about some 5th dimension after the year 2012 are one pill short of their medication. If you have children who behave strangely you have only to look at your own fears and delusions. ...
