5-0 out of 5 stars The Unquenchable Worshipper: Coming Back to the Heart of Worship (Worship Series)
We were taken back to the Heart of Worship!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars you're not alone
Ever feel like no one else gets it? Like you sometimes can't connect with other people who although share your faith, seem to have a different taste for God than you do?
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Inspiration to Clear Your Heart to Worship
I highly recommend this little book for its insight and its heart to Seek GOD and to find Him when you seek Him with all your heart. Though he is my favorite male Christian singer/song writer and this book is about worship the heart of the book is Jesus and knowing Him and laying aside the sin that so easily besets us. I was inspired, touched and enlightened by this book and I pray it sets the same fire in you as it did in me to cleanse our own temples with His presense and importance.

3-0 out of 5 stars it has good selections from various religions... but
It is baptized in feminist views. That would be okay except it isn't supposed to be a platform for feminists; it is suppose to show the richness of the various religions.5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Survey of Religions of the World
In "An Anthology of Living Religions," Fisher and Bailey provide the reader with a great survey of the religions of the world. Each of the traditional religions, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism,Confucianism, Taoism, Islam, and Sikhism are explained in great detailthrough contemporary writers who are experts in the religion they arewriting about.Other religions, such as New Religious Movements and TheInterfaith Movement, are also dealt with generally. This is a great text ifyou are looking for a survey of religions. It also satisfies the needs ofthose who wish to have a reference guide which outlines the basics of worldreligions readily available for easy reference. After explaining thebasics of each religion, and including writings of those familiar with thereligion, Fisher and Bailey include a reference to pertinent terms, holydays, a historical outline, and a section listing further readings. Thereis also a chapter which specifically deals with The Religious Response, defining the philosophy of religion and the need to have religion in ourworld today. I highly recommend this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The dramatic story of the Knights Templar
The Knights Templar was a monastic order of Christian warriors that grew out of the medieval campaigns to free Jerusalem and Palestine from the domination of the Muslims in several waves of invasion known collectively as the Crusades. These warrior monks were believed to conduct mystical rites, guard the famed Holy Grail, and possess the lost treasures of Jerusalem. The order's wealth and political activities evolved to provide banking services to kings, act as trusted diplomats, engage in far flung business enterprise, and even work as navigators. The order was ultimately doomed to succumb to political intrigue and the malevolent greed of kings. In The Templars And The Grail: Knights Of The Quest, Oxford-based medieval historian Karen Ralls presents the dramatic story of the Knights Templar, presenting the many beliefs and theories about their presumed powers and arcane knowledge. Drawing upon both popular and academic sources, this impressive, exceptionally well written, and thoroughly accessible history is especially recommended to students of Metaphysical Studies and Medieval History.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Philosophy/Little History
This is a very interesting book. It differs from similar books in this area (e.g., Meyers, Pagels) in that it is high on philosophy, weak on history, and includes line by line copies of the coptic text along with English translations along with commentary. As such it goes beyond Pagels and Meyers as a useful resource for people interested in primary sources, but it may not be as helpful to people looking for historical commentary.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Pristine, Gender-Balanced Christianity, Yeshua & Magdalene Wisdom Co-Teachers
This book is so spiritually inspiring, so perfectly presented, that you feel a surge of recognition, like you always KNEW.Here is a religious "system" that blends original pure Christianity with Buddhist and Vedanta high and bright teachings. It is like a Theory of Everything for alternative Christians.Leloup writes as a holy scribe; it's amazing that we're reading a translation! Flawlessly rendered. Every verse comes open so vividly with his explanation and insight, so many aha! moments. It's a faith-changing book, not just life-changing.His explanation of that rascally last verse of the Gospel of Thomas is worth the purchase price of the book. That's the verse you recall, where Jesus explains he can make Magdalene "fully male", causing nay-sayers to claim alternative Christianity and gnosticism is sexist. But. The word for male really meant "human" -- so Yeshua was not being sexist, but saying the two of them joined together in wholeness become fully human. Leloup tells us just how we today can reach this fully human "anthropos" state. He reveals Yeshua & Magdalene's sacred union and alternative teachings in pristine simple words that jump out at you and say, You knew this!
5-0 out of 5 stars The True First Gospel of the New Testament
Gentle, thought provoking and honest to a fault. It is sad that this Gospel was omitted from the Bible at the Council of Nicea.Had it been included it would be complete, rather than fragments of relics.Women would be able to play an equal role in society, and the Christian Church would have far fewer problems to have to face than it does today, for the Holy Bible itself would be more easily understood and the true thoughts of Jesus would be more easily understood. The world would be a better place if this book were included in the New Testament. It isn't though, but for anyone serious about World issues it is just the book to help put society (humanity) back on course. Those with open and searching minds will find this book breath-taking. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Strength to Do Something requires the power and wisdom of love...
In 1983 I entered teaching in West Virginia and recieved this book as a present from one of my teachers. In two years I moved to South Central to teach at 93rd Street School then into the Salinas valley and now in Oxnard. It has proved itself to be of great use to a teacher. I say this by way of explaining that as an elementary teacher, one working with a variety of settings, children, cultures, families, many kinds of educational issues I've come to believe that the book King wrote, this book, is a true helpmate to anyone trying to deal with inequity and injustice.Teaching is an act that requires a very deep understanding of who you are, your strengths, purpose, and this volume supports the evolution of your social conscious. For me the text allowed me to solidify who I am as a teacher and why I do what I do. One example might be the difficult job it is to teach in schools under assault for doing poorly, seemingly being deconstructed by politics without enough valid insight into ways to guide real improvement and coming up against ignorance in many forms-including the disparity in economic means permitted in America. It's not easy to teach children with vast dental decay, families out of work and watch a nation laud this as positive "welfare reform" when stranding these children in worse fixes. Sometimes I find it infinitly difficult to love my neighbor, well, my voucher loving neighbor, or even find commonality with those in million dollar homes feeling botox might make them both more appealing and more interesting. The child as a commodity construct which is now prevelent in educational dialog, among many other kinds of views, I find difficult to separate from the individuals telling me( in often rude and hurtful ways) that my efforts educationally are a failure and that schools don't work. In my world it's a constant Lou Dobbs immigration rant that somehow is hiding vaguely words that really seem to be saying something else. I tire of watching the reality of racism, classism acted out in the lives of children-and this is a fatigue that easily becomes anger-King speaks to this.... I find myself lacking the strength to love positions taken by those that really don't know what they are talking about, and don't care other than for personal advantaging anyway.... There is something truely fascinating about having a book that describes both your situation and your feelings as well as frames this into affective forward action-King can give you individual empowerment quite readily. And he can help you address your mindset. And that in this world of mine is a beautiful thing.I frame my work with principles that are able to outweigh the personal likes and dislikes levels...so I bring to school dealings my thoughts that I am there to help Anthony be the best Anthony he can be...not to condemn Anthony to my judgement about him. Let us say then King's is an active lexicon and this volume is insightful for someone wishing to everyday face injustice and difficulty with positive reaction and action. For me as a person I find the book more helpful than any I ever had.
5-0 out of 5 stars Life changing
Timeless. As relevant now as what it was when it was written. Addresses the issues of hate and indifference and argues that the solution is love. Love does sound all too simplistic but it is one of the hardest things to face but its rewards are beyond words.

Let's not just sit in silence on *Martin Luther King Day*- -We must ask ourselves how WE can carry forwardDr. King's message & become agents for change. Reading his words in "STRENGTH TO LOVE" makes an excellent beginning.

5-0 out of 5 stars Biblical Preaching: The Development and Delivery of Expository Messages
Excellent book in teaching expository preaching.
5-0 out of 5 stars Every preacher must own this
If you're a novice pastor or preacher and you're lost on how to formulate and deliver a sermon this book is the best place to start. Robinson's book is not only organized, practical, scholarly, and easy to understand it is also passionate about the subject matter at hand. Robinson gives good and effective pointers on how to formulate sermons, do exegesis, and to speak behind the pulpit (or capturing the congregation's attention). Another good aspect about the book is that it is written from an explicitly evangelical perspective. In a time when evangelical preaching is going down the tubes this book is a great guide on how to biblically preach to a congregation and remain faithful to God's word. This book must be in every pastor's library. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Freemasonry's Alpha and Omega Resource Book
A New Encyclopedia Of Freemasonry may just be the best pure resource work on the subject today. This is not your typical Freemasonic expose where someone sells-out the fraternity. Come here looking for handshakes, passwords, rituals and secrets, hoping to catch Freemasons at play, and you'll be bitterly disappointed. This is not the cheap seats, so don't expect any home-run balls to come soaring in.

This is a must have for any freemason. This is a comprehensible reference of almost all masonic and related definitions. It is extremely helpful to have it handy when reading masonic articles.

5-0 out of 5 stars The classical Hatha Yoga Manual with Sanskrit & English
This is a unique translation of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Sometime in the 15th Century, Yogi Svatmarama put down his principals of the practice of Yoga. Many of these include the mysteries of Kundalini --the coiled center of energy close to the base of the spine. But there is a lot more here for the student of yoga, including photos of the various "asanas" or positions, health, diet and mental hygiene. If you read Sanskrit, this would be a treasure. If you don't, you still have a line-by-line translation of this ancient and honored work. It's like listening to the yogi himself as he lectures his disciples. Fascinating reading--and if you are a practicing yogi or yogini, you'll find this insightful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Closest thing to a "source code" that we have
The two best known English translations of Svatmarama's classical text on yoga from the Fifteenth Century are by Pancham Singh and Elsy Becherer. The former is 87 years old and the latter is a translation (with commentary by Hans-Ulrich Rieker) from the German, and is therefore twice removed from the original Sanskrit. Both books are out of print.Surprisingly there is virtually nothing else in English despite the fact that the hatha yoga teachings found in popular works, including B.K.S. Iyengar's celebrated Light on Yoga, are in no small part based on Svatmarama's text.5-0 out of 5 stars Features the original Sanskrit side-by-side with English
Ably translated into English by Brian Dana Akers, The Hatha Yoga Pradipika is the classic sourcebook on Hatha Yoga, written by an East Indian yoga master named Svatmarama in the fifteenth century C.E. to preserve for future generations his own experience and the wisdom of older works now lost. This faithful reproduction of the crucial text features the original Sanskrit side-by-side with the exacting English translation. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika reads as a selection of individual phrases describing the hatha yoga poses and giving insight into the spiritual nature of yoga. Black-and-white photographs illustrate several of the poses. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika is an impressive and highly recommended reference for students and devoted practitioners of Hatha Yoga. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Translation of a Classic in Spiritual Alchemy & Theosophy
The tendency to interpret physical change in spiritual terms was part of alchemy from its inception in the ancient world. Beginning in the Middle Ages and well into the 18th century parallels were drawn between alchemical processes and the mysteries of Christianity. The preparation of the philosopher's stone was described in terms of death and resurrection and equated with the death and resurrection of Christ; the constituents of the stone, for example, the salt, sulfur, and mercury of the Paracelsians, were identified with spirit, soul, and body as well as the Trinity. For Georg von Welling the symbols and signs of nature carried deep correspondences with biblical revelation. The religious nature of many alchemical texts makes it difficult at times to distinguish those that describe actual laboratory processes from those employing alchemical language for purely spiritual ends. Nevertheless, there was a clear tendency among "spiritual" alchemists to distinguish themselves from those they disparagingly described as "puffers" or "sooty empirics". The English physician, alchemist, and Rosicrucian sympathizer Robert Fludd dismissed the work of practical alchemists as "chymia vulgaris". Only their imagery and symbolism kept these alchemists in touch with the fire and the furnace.
5-0 out of 5 stars From the Editor
In Act I of Goethe's Faust, the hero broods alone in his chamber and reflects upon the vainness of earthly knowledge and education. He opens a ponderous book of magic and gazes in almost sensual wonder upon the lines and symbols on a diagram of the Macrocosm. Upon waves of ecstasy he gives voice to the passion that since the dawn of consciousness has consumed the student of the mysteries.

1-0 out of 5 stars Mr. Carrigan, Leave it Alone, Please.
Mr. Carrigan takes it upon himself to omit essential material in the books he edits--this and 'Ascent of Mount Carmel' are two. He ignores that these were written by religious for religious, and is presumptuous and arrogant to assume that the entirety of these saints' writings is not important. I purchased this book here, then after reading the preface, immediately auctioned it off and found an *accurate* copy.5-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to this Doctor of the Church
OK, let's say you have made a beginning on the way of prayer, and you have been looking for good sources to read. You have heard a lot about St. Teresa of Avila. After all, she was one of the first women ever named a Doctor (in the Latin meaning of "teacher") of the Church. But lo and behold, you have found her Life puzzling and The Interior Castle just about impossible to understand.4-0 out of 5 stars Saintly Holiness & Its Application to Us

4-0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Collection of "Far Out" Ideas.
_The Archaic Revival:Speculations on Psychedelic Mushrooms, the Amazon, Virtual Reality, UFOs, Evolution, Shamanism, the Rebirth of the Goddess, and the End of History_ by ethnobotanist Terrence McKenna is a rather interesting collection of essays and interviews revealing McKenna's often rambling thoughts on the various subjects mentioned in the title.McKenna's basic theme seems to be that the hallucinogenic plants have beneficial effects and can result in mind expansion which ultimately will aid society and bring about a utopia.Oddly however, the book rather hypocritically begins with a warning in which the publisher and author note the harmful effects of these substances and their illegality.Whatever one's personal beliefs are about the justice behind so-called drug laws, the fact remains that the hallucinogenic substances and plant products mentioned by McKenna in this book are illegal and possibly dangerous and that ingestion of these substances can result in possible difficulties with the law as well as potentially harmful side effects.
5-0 out of 5 stars A New Trip Down an Old Rabbit Hole
I just recently finished this book, and i can say it has been one of the most profound pieces of literature i've ever had the pleasure of reading. The topics explored in the book (which are, i might add, VERY extensively explored) ask the reader to look outside of the narrow field of spiritual and philosophical vision that constitutes our cultural typic, and question things one might not have ever thought of questioning. McKenna seems very frank and straightforward through the whole book, not dancing around subjects or refraining from certain phrases that some would be self-concious to use (ie. get loaded).
3-0 out of 5 stars Some people would like all copies of this book burnt
I enjoyed this book, as it is so much easier to read than McKenna's other works (some of which are as dry and technical as scientific journals) -- if you are interested in hearing what Mister McKenna has to say, definitely start with this one.The chapters mostly consist of essays which had been published in various new age magazines, as well as transcripts of several interviews with the author, so it all flows rather nicely.Terrence McKenna is widely acknowledged to be one of the world's foremost authorities on the shamanic use of botanical hallucinogens, and unlike Leary and Castenada, he is a true scholar, who apparently is speaking in earnest about a topic he feels is very important.Probably the most significant argument McKenna makes is that the Church and State have colluded in suppressing, penalizing, and attempting to actually eradicate anyone who proposes that the altered perception which occurs upon the ingestion of these alkaloids is, in fact, essential to understanding the true nature of the universe. He states that the Church does not want the average person to have direct access to "God", nor does the State want the average person to be shook out of their complacency and begin to ask difficult questions. These alkaloids are a catalyst which is clearly dangerous to the dominant power structure of our society -- thus they are prohibited. He makes a number of other amusing statements and observations as well. However, several times throughout this book, McKenna started to get rather bizarre (understandable), like when he was presenting computer generated graphs which purported to show exactly when the world would end (and we would all be "transformed into energy beings" or some such), and when he began singing the praises of DMT -- about the effects of which I've heard some rather horrible things (imagine being trapped in a H. R. Geiger painting). If you are serious about studying the multidimensional aspects of the world around you, check out this book, which states that the universe within one's mind is just as interesting, and perhaps even more accessible. ...
