Terrible
I thought this book would give me some new insight into biblical history. Its didn't. It is disjointed and much of it talks about one ruler or king or leader (none biblical) who died on such and such date in history. It gives little is any detailed information about anything pertaining to the bible. I thought that by reading this book I would have some new knowledge about biblical history but I have none. Its just a terrible book.

Outstanding Historical Cross-Reference.
"Annals of the World" is a great historical reference for the most discerning of scholars.Covering the time from the beginning of creation to 70AD, James Usshur used over 2500 historical sources to ensure that he compiled a complete collection of historical facts.

I was so looking forward to this book! Thank you, Larry and Marion Pierce, for making one of the most important works of fiction available! Now, that Christopher Tolkien has given us the complete work of J.R.R. Tolkien, or that Brian Herbert has significantly enlarged the universe of his father Frank, today's fantasy fans get another wonderful addition to their shelves. Excellent new systematic theology
Dr. Grudem's Systematic Theology is a must, especially to newer converts!
Well Written for schlor or layman!
I think this is a book that everyone should have at home! Read it once or twice and stick it on a shelf for reference. I'm sure this will easily become one of my most referenced books.

An Undescribable Encounter!
Before reading the book, it is recommended that one puts all of one's stereotypes about God aside and carefully read through what Tozer has written.

Intimate Issues
Once again, Linda Dillow offers her help and wisdom.She is an ispiration to all who read her books.Based on Scripture, she answers all the questions a woman, and a man, can have on sex.Specifically, she let's us know what is NOT okay and what is okay between a married couple;while remaining respectful and tactful in her presentation.I read portions of the book to my husband;he too has enjoyed listening to her insight in helping us to live a life in the light with God.

Every Women Should Read This Book
This is a fabulous book.We have just taken the last 14 weeks in our church to read it, and it has broken down so many lies that our society tells us.Every newly wed should be given this book before she gets married.

A mixed bag
This book sounded more promising than it turned out to be. Alone, it has little real value, but if used as a base for conversation (like a women's Bible study or in premarital counseling) it has real merit.

Poor Stewardship of Scripture
I'm not sure which is more distressing - the author's egregious misuse of Scripture or the plethora of glowing endorsements this book is receiving.Both are the result of not applying sound principles of biblical interpretation taught to beginning hermeneutics students. Great book.
This was a good book with sound biblical principles on giving. It made me totally reevaluate my own giving.

Excellent ... a bit over the fantasy side at the end ...
But nevertheless, if correct, a very worth reading. disturbing... I've been reading a lot over these last months on the UFO topic and this book is paramount lecture. Anyway, there is a conclusion, proposed by Greer and some of the witnesses he interviews, stating the UFOS /ET are good beings and USA govt. is provoking them as they shoot them down, harrass them, etc. I digress ! They cannot have good intentions if they intrude our territory, mutilate our animals, abduct people, etc.I think that in drawing such conclusions the book fails in being objective and with common sense. That is why I give it 4 stars only.

Hard to put down,difficult to condemn,almost impossible to ignore!!...Steven Greer has gone where others haven't had the balls,and placed his reputation on the line to bring the truth out...congratulations!! This is a fantastically researched book covering all facets of the U.F.O. phenomenon and a must read for everyone interested in the TRUTH.Whether or not this will be revealed to us in the near future is another matter,but the fact that extraterrestrial intelligence exists is no longer a question,it's just waiting to be proven en masse.Fantastic reading!!

Question Everything!
When you venture down the rabbit hole deeper and deeper, exploring all the information you can find about what really happened on September 11, 2001, your concern with the official story of 9/11 should transcend politics, religion, race, and ideology. It should have everything to do with truth, constitutional law, ethics, corruption, deception, blatant disregard for human health and human life, and morality beyond any personal choices most of us will make.
History of False Flag operations
Webster Tarpley has been writing exposes for a long time now. His earliest work of note was in the late 70s called "Chi ha ucciso Aldo Moro?" which was on the murder of an Italian Prime minister. He is also known for his studies on the Bush family.
Among Hundreds of Books, The Strongest Approach to Truth
It is with great sadness that I conclude that this book is the strongest of the 770+ books I have reviewed here at Amazon, almost all non-fiction.I am forced to conclude that 9/11 was at a minimum allowed to happen as a pretext for war (see my review of Jim Bamford's "Pretext for War"), and I am forced to conclude that there is sufficient evidence to indict (not necessarily convict) Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and others of a neo-conservative neo-Nazi coup d'etat and kick-off of the clash of civilizations (see my review of "Crossing the Rubicon" as well as "State of Denial").Most fascinatingly, the author links Samuel Huntington, author of "Clash of Civilizations" with Leo Strauss, the connecting rod between Nazi fascists and the neo-cons.

Let's Reason Together
From the moment one begins to read Dr. Roger's book, "Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality:Explore the Myths, Heal the Church," there is a sense of being in his presence engaging in a conversation about a topic through which he has struggled and, obviously, has well researched.He writes with a keen understanding of church history as well as one who is quite knowledgeable of the Biblical texts that people have claimed to be expressive on the topic of homosexuality.He writes with great sensitivity, knowing that this topic is one that elicits deep-seeded emotional responses.In his writing, one gets the sense that he is saying to the reader, let's explore this "defining issue" without judging or demonizing one another.His approach is multifaceted.He uses history, the creeds, and the Bible to develop his argument.This approach helps to broaden one's thinking about the subject.I would highly recommend this book for groups and individuals who want to work with the texts, confront the issues, and engage in open and honest reflection and/or discussion.It would also be helpful to read it with Freda Gardner's and David Maxwell's companion study guide.

Oh, How I Love Jesus...
The Bible is cut and dry on this issue, right? There is no wiggle room. Jesus condemned homosexuals and said they were going to dwell in the lake of fire prepared for Satan and his angels. It's all there in the Book, isn't it?
Good Background, Faulty Exegesis and Logic
As a fellow member of PC-USA (Rogers is an ordainedPC-USA minister, and moderator of our 2001 General Assembly), I picked up a copy of this book with considerable interest given the on going debate over ordination standards in our denomination.

A Fitting Tribute
In reading Bonhoeffer's book, The Cost of Discipleship, I was impressed at the sincerity and depth of feeling Bonhoeffer had toward the subject matter. Knowing of his deep sacrifice and his own belief in being a true disciple of Christ, this made the book even more telling. His explanation of the cost and of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount was an inspiration to me and my own ministry. By his own experiences, he has laid out a model for a Christian to follow in becoming more fulfilled and living for Christ as He wanted us to live. This isn't the first book by Dietrich Bonhoeffer I have read. I found his "Spiritual Care" to be the best I have read for aspiring ministers of the word. The Cost of Discipleship takes off from that and emphasizes what a Christian is and how you should live your life to fully emulate Christ and all that He stands for. While the first chapter is a little long, the rest of the book comes across with definite concepts and hard-hitting thought. Again, this is a must-read for pastors and other ministers of the Word.

Always a good read
Bonhoeffer has always been an appropriate challenge and reminder to the Western church about the incredible value of the grace of God, and how that ought to radically transform our mindset.

A GOD OF LOVE?
After reading this book you will either rejoice because you are "saved" and get to miss Hell, or in denial of this awful place, or frightened into seeing what you can do to avoid it. However, some questions need addressing. Would it be better for the human race to stop having children and become extinct rather than risk a loved one winding up in Hell? Are all the people who have had the bad luck to be born Jewish, or Hindu, or Muslim, and aren't smart enough to embrace Jesus as Lord and Messiah, damned to this terrible place? If all non-Christians are going to Hell, does this mean that the victims of the Holocaust are all in Hell? Why was Hitler stopped if most of these people would wind up in a lake of fire anyway? When you go to a funeral, and the person wasn't a Christian, why doesn't the minister or pastor remind the family that their loved, deceased, relative is rotting in the lake of fire and that's the way it goes for all unbelievers and tough luck? Are any of Baxter's loved ones in Hell? does she give a hoot? PEACE IN CHRIST

Great Book
This is a great book that has many inspirational and wonderful insights of heaven and hell. My advise read very careful and alone. If you could experience reading the book of Revelation then this is not bad for you to read!

Excellent History of 'God'
Karen Armstrong is certainly one of the finest writers on religious issues.While not herself a believer in 'God', she speaks from experience (she was a nun for several years in the Roman Catholic Church) and also great understanding and sympathy.
Actually...a history of western religion
While Karen Armstrong admittedly attempted a difficult objective, her errors small and not so small still deserve mention.
Ode to the Mighty One
"A History of God" is Karen Armstrong's opus (in my humble opinion), and is an admirable achievement, for it is both secular and theological, without being sanctimonious. I have taken the time to read several of her books and each is superlative in its own way, but most focus on historical time periods that are only part of the 4000 year saga that is revealed with such power in "A History of God."
