Different Approach to Relationships
I used to think that if I just found the "perfect" way to do relationships, I would never get hurt or have my heart broken.
True Love
C. S. Lewis is a great thinker and whatever he writes, he writes well. This book compares and contrasts the four kinds of love that one can personally experience and personally manifest towards others. It can definitely improve your love life!
Amazing analysis of loves
I was not especially expecting to be engrossed by a book about four greek words, but I was wrong.This was one of the better books that I have ever read.Lewis overviews each of the four types of love:storge (affection), phileo (friendship), eros (romantic love), and agape (charity or God-love).Each discussion was extremely insightful, especially the friendship one.

Such a wonderful book
I have found myself in some difficult situations in the past year. This book is wonderful and I use it as a tool to focus my life more toward God. I feel so much better after reading it. I completely reccomend it for those who need that spirituality in their lives.

I found what I was seeking
I am a newly practicing Christian, having found myself at a low point in my life.I was looking for guidance on delving deeper into a relationship with God and this book has given me new life.It is a remarkable book on how to deepen, strenghten, and improve your connection to God.I would highly recommend it.I take my time reading the chapters and slowly read the prayers.After praying along with the book, I am closer to God and I include my own "conversations" (prayers) :)
A Must Read for Any Woman!

Not a Sound Read
This book tells of a story of a struggling pastor. This pastor, instead of seeking God's face and will in His Word and through prayer and fasting or even consulting his wife, seeks out a man to help him land a job in teaching. In fact, examples of things that oppose the clear teachings of Scripture (ie. the truth of our faith as a foundation, Jesus as the only redemption to a lost world, the Bible as God's authoritative revealation of himself to us, and etc.) are present throughout. And out of the two times he does directly quote the Bible, one of those times (Heb. 11:13) is blatently out of context. I would encourage no one to read this book or ref. it as a reliable resource. The worst bit of theology comes out on Page 92, where Mclaren leads the reader in a prayer to follow Jesus. However, major points of heresy are evident-yet subtle.
thought provoking and convicting
I think Brian McLaren is a great writer that helps us seperate our cultural influences from our relationship to Jesus in a humorous and convicting way. At the same time he upholds the essentials of Christianity and what we should believe.He causes us to truly want love and relate to all people, breaking down the "us versus them" mentality of so many conservative Christians' view of non-Christians.

Interesting enough, but forgettable
A friend lent this book to me a few weeks ago. I read it, and found myself nodding in agreeing with much in it!

Practical Advice for Managing One's Thought Processes
Joyce Meyer believes that faulty behavior stems from faulty thinking. She warns against mistaking inconveniences for trials (p. 231), and reminds us that problems defeat us when we think that they are bigger than God (p. 240). We must remember that we will always have problems in this world because the Lord Himself told us that "In the world you have tribulation..." If we wait to have the right attitude once there is nothing around us to worry about, that moment will never come (p. 127).
Renewing your mind
This book is one of the most enlightening and life changing books I've ever read. The spirit of the Lord was really working thru Joyce Meyer as she penned this book. She gives her testimony as she teaches biblicial prinicples, in order to live a Victorious Christian Life. I encourage you to purchase this book right now and read it. I will richly bless you life.

the way to go
This book takes all the sting out of forgiviness. The tools presented support positive and quick changes in life and events. Instead of feeling victimized by forgiving someone, these tools show how forgiveness is the highest form of love, strength and power. If patterns are repeating in your life, or you can't let go of an event or experience, this book could hold the key.

I can see this book (piece of work) has saved many lives, saved many from life threatening illnesses, healed broken relationships.
Best self-help book ever!
I read _Radical Forgiveness_ after one particularly painful argument with a boyfriend that I couldn't separate from.We'd tried to break up dozens of times before, but we still could neither change our patterns of behavior with each other nor break it off entirely.

This is a great book and you can learn so much from it. Mr. Osteen talks about being focused on the future and not staying and dwelling in the past. You can't look ahead if you continue to look behind you.

Solid, attainable advice for those who want to live their purpose
In his book The Power of Intention, Dr. Wayne Dyer's main point seems to be that your life is co-created by you and "Intention" (which is his word for God or the Source of all power).
More outstanding work from Dyer
Been a Wayne Dyer fan for some years so of course I would like his latest work. What has most impressed me about it is the impact it has had on my thrity two year old son. He recently went through a divorce and had been struggling with some other problems and some how this hit him dead center. He quit drinking, quit smoking and meditates as well as running again. Seek your own truth from the experience of others
I bought this book because I began a spiritual awakening of my own about a year ago. I firmly believe in the power of story as a way for us to relate our own experience to that of others--from that we learn, we cope, we identify, we grow. Regardless of where our journey takes us, there are vital milestones we can share with each other. That is what Kidd's book is to me.

A bit cheesey... I felt like I was reading a fluffed up self-help book! If you are a fan of The Da Vinci Code looking for more information on the lost sacred feminine, this book will be of little help.I bought it because I thought it would be an interesting way to absorb some facts, but I found it to be a simplistic, repetetive, overly-idealized account of a woman's "rebirth".I couldn't even finish it!

Words of a liberated man!
This book is pure gold! It is an translated transcript of Q&A sessions between spiritual aspirants and a liberated sage Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. Each Q&A session has been grouped as a chapter with a suitable titles like 'the sense of I AM', 'What is born must die', 'Meditation', 'Greatest Guru is Your Inner Self' etc. Nisargadatta answers most of the common questions and doubts that arise in the mind of a spiritual aspirant. It also contains very practical and clear spiritual instructions. A must buy for every spiritual aspirant.

I'm not sure this guy deserves the title of "Sri".I think of him more as a successful swami or guru.He didn't get very far in the biz, and maybe he'd have gotten nowhere if somebody hadn't started tape recorded these question and answer sessions at his so called tenement in Bombay.I've seen pictures of the tenement, and though the digs are not as high a quality as Rev Ike's, it's not quite a tenement either.
professor of comparative religion
I teach comparative religion at the university level and I have personally studied Advaita, Zen and Taoism since I was a teen-ager (I'm now 54). A woman introduced me to this book 30 years ago, but I wasn't quite ready for its exquisitely simple and profound message. Then, at age 41, after a couple decades of sadhana, I had a huge awakening. At the time, I subsequently looked for books that would help me to convey my understanding in clear English, and I returned to "I AM THAT" by Niz. Wow! Every line in the book resonated at the deepest level of enlightenment. I consider this the single best book on Advaita ever published. It cuts through illusion like a buzz saw. Good Common-Sense Approach To Adversity
Rabbi Kushner's new book, "Overcoming Life's Disappointments" is a good friend to have if you've got some adversity in your life.He takes Moses, who spent 40 years wandering in the desert with his people and then was forbidden to enter the promised land with them, as his model on how a good person copes with trials.His advice is that life continues to have good things in store for us even after our dreams are shattered, if we don't let ourselves become hardened and embittered but keep our minds and hearts open.This sounds obvious enough, but it's easier said than done.Rabbi Kushner provides many stories from his long career to explain how we can cope.As a self-confessed admirer of Sigmund Freud, he's not big on the mystical or intuitive aspects of religion.He's more of a "duty is its own reward" kind of guy.But he is a preacher of what C.S. Lewis called "the Tao": the basic "way" that most religions have in common.If you are looking for essential answers, Rabbi Kushner is a good place to start.

Showing Our True Colors
Mary Miscisin's book was outstanding! It was a fun and easy read, yet full of informative and interesting ideas about people and how and why they act the way they do.Having been an educator for many years, this is THE book I could have used long ago to better interact with my students and their parents. The book's content makes easy what Myers-Briggs tries to do.I would recommend it to anyone who has a desire to deal more effectively with children or adults.

Life-long Learning!

A Great Bible That Actually Makes Sense.
Even before I bought The Satanic Bible I've always favored the Satanic religion the most because it makes the most sense, instead of denying you of your natural needs, it embraces them. It doesn't discriminate again anyone whether you're white, black, asian, European, gay, straight, bisexual or whatever, it'll except you no matter what. The Bible was a big help to answer a few questions I had about the religion and I'm not even half way through it yet and it's gotten me to respect the religion a lot more then I already did. If you only think Satanism is whatever the christians cowardly discribe it to be or if you're just plain courious then you should buy it and read it. If you don't like it after you try it then you don't have to keep it so it won't hurt anyone. There's a million things in the first few chapters that makes it a great bible that actually makes sense.

AWESOME & POWERFUL "watching your soul-USInG THE SWORD of the SPIRIT"
The Scriptures tell us to keep watch over our souls, but most of us women are so used to caretaking for others, even in our prayers that we forget to even pray over ourselves! (to pray HIS WORD daily for others check out "ALPHABET PRAYERS the Power of Praying Scripture into the Hearts You Love").

This is an excellent source for a prayer group. Our church has been using it and we are learning alot from the way it was written. It is a wonderful book and I would recomment it to a group or a single reader. CB

The Art of Listening
After reading several of Joyce Meyers books.This one was very interesting.I love to work with the hardback, the study guide and my Life Application KJV Bible.I love the way the three connect.Two phrases that caught my interest were, "Ask God to open your ears and sanctify them so you can be sensitive to His voice," and "We must learn to listen, for it is impossible to hear without listening."
A must have!
My favorite chapter is the one on peace. This book is so inspirational that I recommended it in a book I wrote called Where's my mate? One day when I was feeling a little blue, I found this book and when I started reading the fog lifted. Thank you Joyce!
