2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Book and Raves from Oprah
I got this book bc it's on Oprah Favorite List. I ordered this mini book off Ebay with attached 24 kt gp charm leaf. For me, it told me nothing new and was confusing at times. It talked about things weren't all about "Me" but then said I(Me) was the "Master". It talked about not taking things personally, do everything the best that I could(very elementary). It talked about a story of a man talking to Budda for guidance? but then turned around and said do things that please God;I can't relate to both in the same chapter. It said Sin is how you judge or blame yourself. No, Sin is what displeases God. Being Impeccable with your Word, IS doing your Best. Gave definition of Impeccable as being without Sin. But then Sin is not defined accurately according to the Bible I own. Not taking taking anything Personally, is something too hard to constantly think and dwell on for the average person unless they have pysch issues. Oh, let me stop for a second,... did I take that too personal. Let me back up. Most people don't have time to play that song in their head. I just couldn't get anything out of this mixture of vague and detailed ways to be a better person. I had an unclear direction of how these seemly similar ideas (4 agreements)all fit together in the book. I felt I wasted $9(book, ins and shipping. I came away totally confused and untouched. Try, Don't Try. Stay, Go. Let's try one direction please. Biblical, Budda, and Mental Issues Scattered into compact book. I may keep the charm and sell the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practicing the Power of Now: Essential Teachings, Meditations, and Exercises from the Power of Now
Having already read the 'Power of Now', I found that "Practicing the Power of Now:..." was much more to-the-point and condensed from the original 'Power of Now'. I thought it wasconcise and much easier to follow. The truths set forth in Echart Tolle's work are not to be glossed over. They transcend every person's religion because you can read his words with 'spiritual discernment' to apply the truths to your life and understand it - no matter what your belief system is. I think every man, woman and child should get aquainted with what the author is showing us. It will change your life for the better if you allow it to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful publication
Although i have known people reading "Practicing the Power of Now" without having read "The Power of Now," i would suggest to either read the latter first, or both books together: start with pages from "Power of Now," then the pages from "Practicing..." to go deeper into the understanding of the original book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Tripe in a nice wrapper
This book demonstrates what happens when "C" students pretend to know material that only "A" students understand. By juxtapositioning snippets of observations from intellectuals, and adding some self-congatulatory personal insight, the "authors" have compiled a useless, meandering mishmash of jabberwocky. The answer to the book's title question (judging by its contents) is "Not Much!" Do not waste your time or money, or contribute to the death of innocent trees, by buying this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Bleepers
If you liked the video, you'll love the book. It expands on each topic discussed in th video. I just got the new "What the Bleep; Down the Rabbit Hole extended version" video and noticed that some of the new video material are the same interviews printed in the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quantum Physics for Dummies
This is a case of the movie being a LOT better than the book. The reason is that the tone and the conversational style of the book are so "cutsey," so patronizing, so ... tiresome; it reminds me of one of the Dummies books. The writers ask so many questions:"So what exactly are emotions?Heard of endorphins? Sound familiar? When was the last time you had an orgasm from a higher level?"I'm really into the subject matter and I'm 3/4 of the way through the book, but I don't think I can finish it, just because the bad writing (not the quantum physics) makes it so hard to read.I wish the authors had just said what they had to say without studying the Dummies format beforehand. If someone picks up a book about the relationship between spirituality and quantum physics, they have to have had some intelligence and some prior reading in both subjects. These authors don't recognize that.Fritjof Capra it's not. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Geographic ignorance
Even in Geography this author is confused. About Fatima - that is NOT in Spain, but in Portugal ! - the author it is no better, as almost foreigner authors that attempt to wirte on something that is far away of them, for instance the original and official records about the complexe serial of events in 1917. But since Fatima Apparitions are a icon to millions of people, so the authors each of them try to put a little gasoline in the fire or pepper in the meat ! Of course anyone can invent what they want, since he not claims to be any astounding secret delivered by "uncovered source" that is reael but unfortunally for the Histry is not able to be identified.
2-0 out of 5 stars The obvious stated as revelation.

Editorial Review

I found a 1955 printing of this book in an old waterfront cabin and was struck by the care with which the previous owner had read it. Eve (the name inscribed inside the front cover and then again above the heading for chapter 3) made pencil marks on nearly every paragraph of the book, underlining a phrase, highlighting many passages with strong vertical marks, scratching out some words that she seems to have found superfluous and even x-ing out whole sections that apparently missed their mark with her altogether. Two rusting paper clips isolate several pages, absent any marking at all. Anne Morrow Lindbergh's lyrical words are still relevant and presage so many of the themes of today's most popular books: simplicity, peaceful solitude, caring for the soul, a woman finding her place in society and life. I heard that the woman who had lived in the cabin had actually passed away some time before. Thank you, Eve, for your gift... from the sea. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A gift from Anne Morrow Lindbergh
This is a terrific book for awoman of any age. It provides much food for thought and is a source of inspiration through her personal musings and easy flowing prose. I like the 20 year "report" from the author where she shares her surprise that her own refections and thoughts have influenced others. Obviously others have the same life experiences to consider and learn from.

Editorial Review

As little children we know how to live in the moment and be completely authentic. But then something damaging happens to us, according to author Don Miguel Ruiz: we are given "knowledge" about how to live in the world. Parents tell us how to behave in order to be a "good" boy or girl. Teachers tell us what it takes to be a "winner" or a "successful" adult. This collective "voice of knowledge" is not only false--it is often poisonous, explains Ruiz, bestselling author of

4-0 out of 5 stars Learn to conquer your inner critic and find your authentic self
Don Miguel Ruiz has a knack for taking complex concepts and simplifying them into basic principles that are easy to digest. In "The Voice of Knowledge", he describes how, as we move from childhood through adolescence and into adulthood, we gradually accumulate unconscious filters through which we interpret everything and everyone we encounter in life. Those filters -- or lies, as he calls them -- color our perceptions, not only about others but about ourselves. We bury our authentic self in layers of interference and succumb to our "inner voice", the critic who convinces us we are not enough. As a result, we feel inadequate, but more importantly, we lose our sense of connection with the Infinite.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and concise
Much of the teachings of Miguel Ruiz is put into a clear, understandable and absorbable form. There is a sense of empowerment that radiates from these simple concepts and this book has become an often read addition to my readings of the spirit and guidance of these principles that can add so much to living a life well lived.

5-0 out of 5 stars You can be happy no matter what
I feel so grateful to have studied with Miguel and his mother many years ago. My life was totally transformed. His love and wisdom comes through so clearly in this book. If you apply these words to your life you truly can be happy no matter what is going on around you and magic and miracles can become a way of life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent - practise discernment
I'm reading this and Vol II for I think about the 4th or 5th time in about 5 or 6 years. Every read feels like a new gift; I get more out of it each time I look at it. Just over 6 months ago (end of March 2006) I finally was able to take the Flower of Life workshop with a facilitator sanctioned by Drunvalo. My merkaba has been up and running ever since, and I am no longer the same person I was before the FOL workshop. I have changed profoundly in ways that I am unable to articulate. But I have to say, if this work doesn't resonate with you, doesn't feel right, let it go. It's not for everyone. Look for something else that gets your juices flowing, or don't. It doesn't matter. If this work peaks your interest, read both volumes, and if you are still stoked about it, set the intention to attend a workshop and watch your life change dramatically. If you are ready for the work, the work will change you in ways that are indescribable. Once you begin to wake up, to see the light, there is no going back. It's not always easy, but it is a great ride and worth the ticket price. Have fun. Peace.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not for left brain thinkers
Clearly, Drunvalo could care less if any particular person believes what he writes or not. In fact, he says as much early on in the book. Which, I assume, is why he did not bother with footnotes or references. Personally, I doubt that references could be provided for much of what he says, even if it is true. Such things are only talked about via word of mouth and with agreement of anonymity.
3-0 out of 5 stars Promises,promises
This book is tightly written in its first chapters, and holds the reader's attention because it promises to share new information ,but instead it falls into a long expose of geometry without any reason or explanation.Still Drunvalo is fun to read as he presents other people's ideas as his own,yet with a hint of trying to make sense out of it.Alot of the book might be considered as a huge sales presentation, where the author is trying to sell the reader on the author's special ability or wisdom. In this he only succeeds in presenting himself as a modern Elmer Gantry dressed up as a disgruntled physics student.Perhaps no one knows the answers to the"real questions",perhaps no one ever has. There seems to be no shortage of entrepreneurs writing these type of books, however. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Jessica's review of the above book:
This devotional for couples has been a delightful read thus far. Please note, however, that my husband and I have only read the Sun., Mon. and Tue. devotional.Every day you and your spouse read a 1-2 page story or article and one bible verse relating to the same. The reading is followed by questions that you both answer to help you get to know each other's thoughts on certain topics that come up in marriage.I think the questions are an important part of this devotional, as they really create the opportunity to discuss topics you may not have brought up otherwise. After you read the story and answer the questions there is a short prayer that you and your spouse pray together. This is an easy way to introduce praying together into your relationship. This devotional has the potential to really solidify the bond you already have or create one, if needed. Please note that if you are looking more for a devotional that will allow you to complete a bible study together you may want to look for something else. This book definitely prods you to include God in your relationship, but it doesn't specifically focus on "bible study".Also, you may note that each daily devotional will only take about 15 min., which is good if you are tried for time. Please remember this review is only based on three days of reading; I have no idea if the book is going to do a complete turn around.Enjoy and may God bless your marriage!

1-0 out of 5 stars More Fun Than A NPR Membership Drive
As someone who has relied heavily on NPR almost since its inception in 1970, I've logged many an hour on the banks of Lake Wobegon, smiling as Dusty and Lefty chewed on cowboy philosophy and thrilling at the adventures of Guy Noir, Private Eye.What I found most alluring about Prairie Home Companion was the format itself, homage to the great days of radio when audiences imagined pictures for themselves. This was a marvelously collaborative process whereby, as Stan Freiberg once observed, it really was possible to fill the Grand Canyon with Jell-O.
3-0 out of 5 stars Narrow Slice of the Pie
I purchased this 25th anniversary collection with great anticipation and, have to say, I was surprised and disappointed to find that this compendium consists ONLY of Garrison's monologues with a few musical selections thrown in.This collection has none of the short skits, Guy Noir bits, or cast-inclusive pieces of brilliance that punctuate and vary the pacing of the live radio show.Don't get me wrong, Garrison's stories are wonderful in themselves and quite enjoyable, but I feel that a 25th anniversary collection should consist of more than just this one aspect of the show. If, like me, you want a more rounded Prarie Home experience, you'll need to buy some of the other Prarie Home CD releases to suppliment this purchase which, I think, is a shame. This collection should be clearly labelled as monologues & music, not as an overall collection of the show.

3-0 out of 5 stars DEPRESSING EVEN TO A CHRISTIAN
If true, this book is totally depressing, even for a Christian. If children don't go to Hell, wouldn't it be better to die as a child? Better still, why bother having children at all? If there was the slightest chance any of my kids would wind up in Hell I would rather have none. In fact it would be better if the entire planet would stop having children and let the human race become extinct. It also sounds like the demons are having a relatively good deal in Hell. If being burnt alive is just punishment, does that mean because of having the bad luck to be born into the wrong faith, and you just don't "get it" about Jesus, He will sentence you to cook alive? Did all the people who were tortured, used for medical experiments, put into ovens during the Holocaust, wind up up in Hell? Was Hitler's ghastly genocide just a precursor to what God is going to do to people? If so, then why was Hitler stopped? After all, these non-Christians were getting their just reward ( in advance of course ). How come the apostles didn't make the awfulness of Hell one of their primary reasons for becoming Christian? I don't see the apostle Paul screaming at people to avoid this awful place.( Of course he didn't seem to give Christmas presents either ). God is Love, and not willing that any should perish ( or so it is written ). what do YOU think aboutGod, Jesus, Holy Spirit looking down on people being tortured? God have mercy on us all, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

I spent about six minutes within the pages of this book at Walmart while waiting for my family to finish shopping. There are people who actually believe this stuff? Here's a few things to think about:

Editorial Review

If you have always assumed that Christianity and Buddhism are as far apart philosophically as their respective founders were geographically, you may be in for a bit of a surprise. In this national bestseller, Zen monk and social activist Thich Nhat Hanh draws parallels between these two traditions that have them walking, hand in hand, down the same path to salvation. In Christianity, he finds mindfulness in the Holy Spirit as an agent of healing. In Buddhism, he finds unqualified love in the form of compassion for all living things. And in both he finds an emphasis on living practice and community spirit. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the read
Let me start this by saying that when I first read this book, I had just started delving into the subject of "other religions".So, if you are in that position, wanting to see what other belief systems have to say, READ THIS BOOK.He discusses how Christianity and Buddhism are related in their beliefs.Truth is truth no matter who says it.Being able to see how Christian truth is similar to, or the same as, Buddhist truth was very enlightening. Before reading this, Buddhism was a foreign object to me.After reading this, Buddhism was still foreign but it made me want to read more about Buddhism to become more familiar with it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Unfounded assumptions challenge the validity of the author's points
While I do not have a problem with the basic idea of comparing the two religions of Buddhism and Christianity, I find this book invalid because the author forms his points on unfounded assumptions of the Christian faith. For instance, he denies the divine nature of Jesus without the use of backup sources--including the Bible. He then proceeds to use this fallicy (according to the Christian faith) to "prove" a connection between the two religions.Instead of an unbiased comparison of two beautiful religions, the book reads like a thinly veiled attempt at Buddhist evangelism by someone who thinks highly of the Christian religion but does not know much about it.I appreciate the author's openmindedness and fondness for Jesus, but I cannot accept his extreme misconceptions about the Christian faith.
5-0 out of 5 stars Question of Faith
Thich Nhat Hanh brings together the Buddha and Christ showing the difference and simularity of both ways of living.Christians should not fear the eastern philosophy and the reverse is also true. You can incorporate both into your daily existance as there are no real clashes between the two.Buddha is just an enlightened person, not a son of god.Jesus will always be the teacher of the christian faith and the son of god.Thich Nhat Hanh points out the fact that the Buddah is not a god.People follow a way of attaing peace with Buddha and also follow a way to attain salvation throught Christ. There is room in the world for both teachings to coexsist together not one trampling over the other.I find his books relaxing, and easy to read and understand. In practice of Mindfulness you receive instruction on quieting your mind making full awareness possible to receive teachings from Christ in the present moment and a new understanding.I enjoyed this book and its meaning to me about the misconceptions most Christions have about other ways to explore life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great way to pass the time while driving
Very inspirational and easy to follow. Full of great wisdom that makes sense!

5-0 out of 5 stars It "clicked" for me!
I've been listening to these CD recordings for three weeks now, going over and over this magnificently empowering message from Abraham and delivered through Esther & Jerry Hicks. I was so impressed with their first book -Ask and It is Given- that I just had to listen/read this one as well. For me, I've found that the message is better felt and understood when it reaches inside through hearing and sight simultaneously, let's say in a sort of "stereo" kind of way, so I read the book and listen the CDs at the same time. For anyone who has been looking for a sensible, charismatic, loving and understanable perspective of self, purpose and access to Joy, try this (read, listen or both), there will be no regrets. My own ability to "listen" (as opposed to hear) is limited by -point of view-, that is, it's filtered through belief; only something more powerful than that belief can shake and crumble it allowing acceptance of another that will further growth, understanding and joy. That is the power of this book and that IS what I want and NOW and more than ever before BELIEVE I can have.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for me
This audio book would be much better read than listened to. There are certain areas that you will not be interested in, and some areas you'll want to read over and over again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Life Changing
Being a member of a "discipleship movement", I have deep convictions about world evangelism.Without a doubt, Jesus Christ has been the most influential/impacting man to ever live. How did one man change the whole world? Answer: Discipleship.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is the Master's plan!!!
This is the best work on evangelism and discipleship that I have ever read and I have read a lot.Virtually every sentence in the book is alive with truth that will impact the reader and leave a lasting impression on how Jesus intended to evangelize the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple yet Lifechanging
This book changed my outlook on life in just a few hours. It is about Jesus' life and method of reaching out to people. In our day and age many think that conversion is enough, but Jesus made it clear thatdiscipleship is vital.Coleman continually points back to the Bible, referencing the way Jesus lived his life as a model for believers today. This book is amazing.you should read it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Archetype Cards are a Fabulous Writer's Tool
These cards are great as a writer's tool. I bought The Archetype Cards by Caroline Myss to help in my writing.
3-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful but not brilliant
We carry all of our archetypes in our psyche. The problem with this deck is that there are too many and the instructions are not clear enough on how to work with the selections you choose. It's a bit of information overload and complicated to someone whose not too familiar with astrology, etc. For the serious Jungians this is great but for the rest .... be prepared to study.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Essential Archetype Card Collection
"..archetypes are not passive entities floating around in the psyche like old family portraits hanging in a dusty ancestral castle. They take an active role as guardians and inner allies, awakening you when you're in danger of falling into destructive behavior." ~Caroline Myss
